Aria had taken Em into downtown Manhattan for the afternoon. They had been sent to New York by Artemis to hunt down a group of roughly twenty dracaenae who were all back in Tartarus now, thanks to the two's arrows and knives. (Fighting on a tourist bus ain't practical.) Their wounds and scratches healed by ambrosia and other medicine, they had changed into fresh clothes in a public bathroom before taking the train towards Manhattan. Aria knew a really good burger place near Central Park -- which was actually a tip of her sister Thalia -- and her stomach craved for food. They had been running after the she-monsters for three days, all the way from Maine.
The daughter of Zeus was dressed in a black tank top with plain white denim shorts and combat boots -- she'd have preferred a pair of trousers, but the summer temperature was really too hot so tight jeans would make her sweat and thus be a liability in combat. Her bag on her shoulder, she chatted with Em as she entered the burger shop. It was quite crowded but the smell of meat and french fries was mouthwatering.

They stood in line for a couple of minutes; some people were looking at them weirdly -- they couldn't see the silver aura those two had thanks to the Mist, but they definitely felt they were... different? Two highschool guys purposefully bumped into them just to start a conversation but Aria stomped on their feet with the spiked heels of her boots, giving them a clear stare that made them go back in line. Boys. Seriously. She put on her usual regal expression again and turned back to the front. A lot of people hit on Hunters and it annoyed the heck out of Aria -- why couldn't people understand the simple word No?

When it was finally their turn, she ordered a burger with salad and french fries as well as a big cup of fresh Coke with crushed ice -- and they tell you Elysium is paradise.

They found an empty table near a window and Aria dropped her bag on the ground, putting down her tray. Her black hair was cut jaw-length in a choppy, graduated bob which got pretty messy --perhaps because of all the monster-fighting, wall-climbing and other parkour-ish stuff. Perhaps. Her white streak stuck up above her ear and her usually determined and fierce cyan eyes radiated good mood now. Nothing like sitting down with a friend to eat a burger after destroying a couple of monsters.

Sebastian had snuck out of camp to attend his and his father's funeral using some basic mist manipulation he had learned. He had to leave before it ran out of course but it was fun nevertheless. There was something about attending your own funeral that was awesome. He wanted to stop by one of his favorite burger places before he left, so he went there for lunch.

When he got there, he saw two girls sitting by the window. They seemed normal enough, except that they had a silver aura around them. He was staring at them the whole time he was there, a million questions going through his mind and he was sorting each one out as he ate, a table away from theirs

Emily was glad that Aria saw off any boys that tried to talk with them or hit on them. The pair of them looked stunning, which didn't help since two incredibly beautiful girls would without a doubt draw the attention of any males but also females. Which though was less awkward, could still be difficult at times. Emily felt exhausted from their fight, the mission had been a success but over three days of running her legs throbbed painfully though she never admitted it to Aria, less their quarry escaped.

Her own food was a cheese burger, fries and a large cup full of orange juice. It smelt divine in her opinion, she seated herself opposite Aria so that the pair faced towards one another. Emily wore dark blue shorts, with black leggings, black boots that went up to her shin and a faded grey t-shirt. Her hair was free from her pony tail which she had worn over the last few days so it fell down to her shoulders in it's curls, her black hair remained stubbornly curly no matter what she attempted, so she left it to it's own devices for most of the time.

She offered Aria a kind smile, with each day that passed Aria became more and more like an older sister, a true friend, a mentor, a hero. Em felt confident around her, hoping one day to be a Hunter as good as Aria. She took a bite of her burger, savouring the taste of the food. Emily swallowed before speaking. "Thanks Aria..." Em thought back to that dracaenae who would have ended her life had Aria's blade not turn it to ash, the creature possessed great skill in battle, moving faster than Emily and breaking her guard. Her Hunter career by all rights should have ended there at that monster's hands however, her sister reacted faster.
Since then Em thanked Aria at least a dozen times for saving her life. She intended to find some way to pay Aria the debt she owed her, not just for saving her life, but for everything she had taught her, for her wisdom and experience. How? At the moment the younger Hunter didn't have a clue.

Engrossed in her memories, Em failed to notice the boy watching them.

"Em. This wasn't the last time I saved your life and you will save my life too. It's what we do," Aria replied as Emily thanked her yet again.

She hungrily bit into her burger but surprisingly managing to stay regal and poised. Guessed that fifteen years of 17th century etiquette drilled into her system didn't quite go away, even after four hundred years. The salad and onions crunched under her teeth, the bread and meat melting away on her tongue... It was delicious.
A couple of people kept looking at them but she didn't pay them the slightest attention. Em and her were probably among the sportiest-looking people in the shop: both had the built of triathletes and their movements were agile and swift, like panthers.
Yet one guy kept staring at them. Aria could feel his look on them like a bug crawling up her neck. Turning her head, she looked at him over her shoulder. He was about fifteen, with tanned skin and brown eyes. But there was something more... Aria had seen mythological creatures for the past four centuries, she knew how to recognize a demigod when she saw one, particularly when they were claimed. They had this kind of hue around them, showing they lived in both the mortal and divine world.
But he was a boy so she turned away the next second, sipping her Coke. It tickled her lips and tongue as she swallowed a mouthful, the hint of lime and crushed ice adding to make it deliciously refreshing.

"You're really getting the hang of it though. How you impaled that dracaena on the fence? That was awesome."

The main question on his mind was whether these two girls were human or actually monsters. It was hard for him to tell, but they obviously wanted to ignore him. He decided he would follow them and see where they went. He was still learning magic, but knew enough to survive in combat.

"Maybe... I hope so one day." Emily longed to be the best Hunter, she owed her existence and freedom to Artemis. It had been a chance, a gamble really that becoming one might heal her some way and it did or rather had. Mostly. Em glanced at the guy briefly but looked away swiftly continuing to eat her food. Boys always seemed to try and drag a hunter away... The older Hunters such as Aria and a few others were particularly good at warding off roving males looking to drag off a hunter or two.
Em tried her best to avoid looking at the boys, she attempted to copy the older members in their behaviour however, at her heart Emily happened to be too nice to generally be mean to them.
    Especially for no reason.

She drank some of her juice, savouring the delightful orange tang that it left on her tongue. "You taught me a move similar when we sparred." Em smiled at her. "Thanks everything I do was because of your training and skill, you taught me well Aria." She felt honoured by her praise, Emily knew then that she would be crushed if Aria ever left the Hunters same if she herself left them.
It would be hard to find someone to replace a true a friend as Aria. Emily could barely recognise herself some days in the mirror, gone were the crutches, the weary pained looked, the skinny frame instead replaced with life, a slender athletic build, a warm smile. It seemed ironic to Em that the Hunter training made them more desirable to the opposite sex and also their own, though the latter wasn't forbidden from them. One had to be ever wary as a Hunter.

"It's kind of my job to keep you alive, I'm your mentor," she said with a wolfish grin.

They kept chatting and eating until both their plates and cups were empty; Aria's fingers were salt-sprinkled from the french fries so she wiped them with a paper napkin before putting it into her plate.

"I probably said this hundreds of times but it's really funny to eat somewhere public with your fingers and not getting thrown out. I'm not only saying that because of my time, but in general. A couple decades ago, it still would've been unthinkable."

After some more minutes, they stood up and put their trays in the special dish compartment of the shop before heading back out into the sun. She protected her eyes with sunglasses and headed down 3rd Avenue, going left towards Central Park.

He followed them out of the restaurant, making sure to try and be as discreet as possible. The chocolate milkshake he was drinking probably wasn't helping, the thick concoction going through the large straw slowly, making a low slurping sound every time he felt like taking a sip.

Emily followed Aria, her sunglasses on as well to protect her eyes from the sunlight. "I think this is the first time I've been to New York." Em said quietly, looking around the city. She doubted that she would have enjoyed it before she became a Hunter and she wasn't enjoying it too much now. Emily never liked the places where she fought, she didn't like to revisit battle sites. Em kept a careful eye out for more monsters, she also kept close to Aria not wanting to lose her. She wondered if the mortals would mistake them for sisters, who could tell?

She didn't know the boy was following them at a distance.

"A year ago, we fought a battle here, to protect Olympus. Many Hunters died," she said in an even voice. Some of them she had known for years, for centuries, others for barely months but each loss took its toll on them all. Fortunately they were in Elysium now -- if anyone deserved it, it was them. "Back in my days, Mount Olympus was above the palace of Versailles, hidden. That's why the castle still rings out so powerfully of feasts and luxury until today, a shadow of the gods's presence is still there."

Emily didn't seem to hear, but Aria's well-trained ears picked up the sound of slurping over the crowd's noise, a couple of meters behind them. She had heard that sound in the shop too. The guy had been drinking a milkshake. Aria turned around and there he was, ten meters behind them.

"Great, a dork is following us. Keep walking, we'll shake him off soon enough."

Emily was too busy watching rather than listening so Aria's command caught her off guard. She nodded twice. "Sure. Whatever you think best." She resisted a glance over her shoulder, a casual one rather than deliberately looking around. Em spotted him and turned back round, it lasted less than a second. "Yep your right." As always.
"Sorry to hear about our lost hunters." She remained quiet about Olympus being in France, she highly doubted that it had ever been the centre of power in the west. However she wasn't sure if that had been a natural assumption or one born from the centuries of rivalry between Britain and France.

Aria kept walking at a steady pace, soon reaching the road in front of Central Park.

"Have you ever been to Mount Olympus?" she asked.

She herself had been several times over the past centuries and it had always amazed her. The beauty, the architecture, the purity of the marbles, the richness and luxury... The guy had stopped following them and was walking around the block, probably coming around to intercept them. How did Aria know that? Airwaves. Electric currents. She gritted her teeth, on the one hand she wanted to teach him a lesson, on the other one she didn't want to bother with a boy. She started walking quicker to shake the guy off.

Emily shook her head. "I'm afraid not." She left out the fact that she had been too terrified to leave the safety of Camp Half-blood. A crippled demigod would have been an easy kill for any monster. In effect the camp became a glided cage, the only place she happened to be safe, however she could never leave it without risk to her person.
Em left for the first time in years with the Hunters, to say the Hunters gave her a life would not be an understatement.

Something cold and sharp lodged itself at Aria's neck just as they were on a path in Central Park. She froze. A sword. Here eyes darted from left to right; no one was around. Perfect. Aria made a string of electricity jump up his blade towards his hand, a flash of bright blue, before turning around and aiming a precise and powerful uppercut at his chin.

"We're the ones who're going to drag you to Hades if you don't get out of our sight," she coolly said.

Emily nodded, part of her mind, the part that all the Hunters tried to crushed, ignore, cage and lock away forever whispered insidious, unhelpful thoughts into her head. She forced them aside, no she was a Hunter, she owed it to Artemis to remain and her friends to remain a Hunter.

"Okay but its his funeral." She replied wondering why Aria wanted to beat him up so badly. It seemed to her that he was already beaten so they could just move on. Not that Em would argue with the more experienced Hunter's decisions.

OOC: If the powers are approved, sure.

BIC: Aria immediately realized the boy barely had any training. It would be wrong to beat him, as both had much more experience than him, from hunts and battles. She side-stepped, dodged and leaned away from his attacks with the swiftness of a she-wolf, reading into his movements.

"That's enough," she said after a minute. "You obviously don't have much experience and I'd feel bad beating someone like that up, even if they're a boy."

"How did we ask for it? You attacked us." She pointed out, it was a rather foolish thing for a boy to do, draw their weapon and threaten not one but two Hunters.
It wouldn't end well for him even if there had been just one Hunter present. "We could run? Leave him here." Em knew that Hunters were faster and all were adept in evading, losing one boy shouldn't present too much of a challenge.
