Jill Nguyen, Daughter of Iris Empty Jill Nguyen, Daughter of Iris

Post by MJhere 2/11/2013, 10:48 pm

    Name: Jill Nguyen
    Age: 16
    Gender: Female
    Eyes: Black
Hair: Thick, wavy black hair, just beneath the shoulder (lenghth)
    Height: 5 ft, 3 in
Body Type: Broad shoulders, lean body with accentuated curves on the waist.
Skin Color: White, with a very light tan.
    God Parent: Iris
Mortal Parent: Daan Nguyen - An olive skinned, broad-shouldered tall man, with a shiny smile, brown hair that is slightly bleached on the end to a light blonde tone and black eyes. Jill and Daan share the eye colour and shape, just as the small ears. Working as an architect in Sydney, attracted Iris creating rainbows with his hobby, surfing. Always busy with his job, but Jill always regards him as the 'best father one could get in down under!'.
    * Extra relative: Nate White - A young man around her father's age, with shiny green eyes and almost white blonde hair. Has known Jill ever since she was a baby and his friendly manners are always comforting. For her 15th birthday, he gave Jill a decorative crystal pendant that made her be claimed by Iris. (see 'Life Before CHB')
    Country of Origin: Australia
Pets: A very colorful and timid male Eastern Rosella named Warhol. Often seen flying around Jill, resting atop of her head or shoulders or even feeding next to her feet.
Talents: Skilled in drawing and painting, preferring crayons and gouache over any other material.
Weapon: Two light (weight) celestial bronze swords.
Flaws: Insecure, hot headed and usually very slow in thinking and connecting thoughts, which makes people think of her being dumb.
Powers: Is able to change the color of her eyes (Lasts for 2 hours. If forced further, leaves her with a pounding headache. Needs 4 hours to recharge if it's all spent in 2 hours and then she is ready to use again); a few strands of her hair (Lasts 15 minutes, needs 2 hours to recharge for her to use again) and is working on changing the color of other materials, such as ink or water. Since it's a way in progress work, it lasts for seconds, exhausting her as if she had changed the color of her hair. It is very tiring, leaving her in desperate need of sleeping with a sense of heavy limbs and sore muscles.
Life Before CHB: Living with her father, Jill lead a relatively normal life, attending to a school specialized in children with ADHD. She always enjoyed art classes, and being a child of Iris, loves colors. When she was 10, she had to be transferred to another school because she punched another kid that ruined her painting for a competition, displaying her hot headed behaviour. She was heavily bullied for being the 'weird kid who draws and does nothing else', getting few to no friends and a deep sense of insecurity about herself and her artistic works. Was always cheered up by her father and their neighbour, Nate White. Despite him being older, around her father's age, she considers him to be her best friend. When she was fifteen, her father got her a baby bird for her birthday. Due to its colorful feathers, she named it after Andy Warhol, modern artist that used lively colours in his works. In the very same birthday, she got claimed by Iris after playing in the light with a decorative crystal pendant given by Nate, producing a rainbow. On the very same day she was expelled from her second school, she found out about the Camp via a Satyr that she knew for being her classmate. At first she thought he was talking nonsense, but he showed her an Iris message showing that the Camp Half-Blood was real. Tired of being expelled from schools, she decided to live there and be homeschooled from her cabin.
RP Example: It was a beautiful day! A beautiful day to paint, to draw, to nap or to simply do nothing at all at Camp Half-Blood. But since beautiful days like those never go to waste with camper's wishes, Jill knew she had lots of things to do. Sighing heavily, she looked up to the sun, squinting her eyes and silently promising herself that she would finish whatever she had to do in the day quickly so she could paint the sunset. Warhol, the bird, chirped happily greeting the morning. Jill giggled and allowed her pet to settle on top of her messy dark curls as she grabbed her bag and walked out of the 14th cabin, talking to Warhol (and secretly to herself) about how she would eat all of the chocolate croissants available on the breakfast table.
Any notes about your character: A very bright behaviour, loud laughing and need to make people around her laugh hides her insecurity.
Her camper shirt survived a single day being spotless orange. The following days, all of them had gouache stains.
Carries around a baby blue backpack with a sketchbook, a box of crayons, a pencil with an eraser attached, a bag of seeds for her bird, a red scruffy coat (also completely stained) and her plastic palette knife, an object that reminds her of home.
Can be found napping around after constant use of her color-changing abilities.

Please, don't double post. That second post was unneccessary.

But down to business! Hi, I'm Shan and I'm looking at your form.

    • How did she find out about Camp?
    • What materials and liquids can she change the colour of?
    • How long does this last?
    • Does this take any energy or weaken her some way?
    • How often can she use each of her powers?
    • How is a palette knife a weapon? If it is what I'm picturing from my own art equipment, that's a rounded blade that isn't sharp at all used in paintings.
    • If a ring is on the left ring finger, this indicates that someone is engaged or married. Are you sure you want to give that impression?

    Thanks in advanced for cooperating!

Insecure and Low self esteem are basically the same thing. Add another flaw.

Edited. Added slow thinking and since Insecurity and Low Self-Steem are the same, removed one.

I still don't see the palette knife as a weapon, sharpened or not. In fact, I don't think we allow weapons that aren't CB, SI or (in the case of Romans) IG. I'll ask Jordan or Elle about it.

The palette knife is actually something silly I felt the urge to add. It's na artistic instrument not a weapon, but since it's a 'knife', I put it there as an object that made her feel safe, not to fight. Since it's creating a problem for my form, I'll delete it from the weapon section. Will that make it a better application?

Well, she can have it but as a weapon... I don't think it can be a weapon. I have one myself. It isn't metal. It's plastic. If you want to mention she has a plastic one that cannot be used as a weapon in her notes, that would be fine.

How exhausting are her powers? Dizzy? In need of a nap? Close to unconsciousness?
