Hilda walked into the sparring arena with her spear and shield. She was wearing a simple breastplate and battle kilt along with a pair of gray lanced sandals. The young demigod found herself a bench where she could place her shield and spear down while she stretched. It had been an entire day since she's been in the arena and needed to brush up on her fighting skills. The daughter of Athena had already sharpened her mind in the camp's library now it was time to sharpen her spear on someone's sword.

Sinbad was probably the most prepared-but-unprepared demigod you've ever seen, beginning most likely with the fact that he was in the arena sparring in jeans and a Chicago Cubs jersey (he wasn't even sure where he'd gotten it from to be completely honest). I mean, the kid at least hand on a breastplate so he didn't get speared like a roast. He actually only had that on because his big sister and brother wore one once so he did too.
"I thought the whole point of sparring was to actually feel the challenge!" De todos modos, on to the more important note. The thirteen-year-old danced around the arena with a crazy smile, spinning his makhaira as he did so, wiggling his eyebrows at some of the people he had sparred with and beaten. Hey - it isn't everyday a tiny kid from Arizona kicked some mean podex against people twice his size. Bragging was key right now and he didn't see anything wrong with it. He spotted someone he hadn't beaten yet. Someone...new. And she was a girl.
"'Cuse me?" Sinbad jogged over to the girl, his smug smile still in play. "Lovely death-dress and all, yeah cute. Got the sandals and everything. I'm feeling this, uh...Chosen One vibe you have going on. So yeah. Wanna play?" Sinbad waved his sword for emphasis.

She was in the middle of stretching out her hamstrings when a boy came up to her. Hilda was a bit shocked at how he addressed her. "¿Qué? You are not talking to me, chico." She rolled her eyes and stood up straight, already losened up and ready to go. She reached for her spear, gripped  the shaft and was now holding it straighten up in the air. The sun glimming on the cesetial bronze spearhead. She almost ressumbled a young Amazonian warrior from Themyscira. All she really needed was a helm and she'd be set.

Sinbad kind of froze, but not in a way that said his confidence was wavering. It was more like "Chick with a bad attitude, plus a spear. That one's new". A normal person would have been afraid to see this Amazonian lady angry or upset, especially when those emotions were aimed towards them. This was Sinbad we're talking about here. If anything, he's make her even more angry and upset just to get a fight out of her - which was probably stupid but whatever. This guy can't be tamed.
"¿...Soy claro?" A genuine looked of confusion crossed his face and he scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. "Yo puedo hablar español, también si quieres. O Griega." Sinbad jammed his sword into the dirt in the arena and leaned his hip against it. It really wasn't a problem - Sinbad could switch languages all day. He even knew a little Portuguese since his idiot older brother liked being difficult whenever Sinbad tried to steal his girlfriend. Then a thought crossed his mind when he remembered the Aphrodite campers.
    "No sé Francés, sin embargo."

Hilda was a bit shocked that he knew Spanish. A small smile crept across her face before she quickly wiped it away. The boy shown a arrogance that she didn't appericate. Her grip tightened on the shaft of the spear, nearly digging her nails inside. "No me gusta tu." She quickly twirled her spear and aimed the spearhead at his chest. Although she did admire the fact that he did speak español fluently. "¿De dónde eres?"

OOC: I had to go through my Spanish notes to translate that. Lol

Sinbad's eyebrows only twitched slightly. Otherwise, his smug expression stood in place right down to his arrogant smile. His eyes briefly darted to the spearhead then back to the girl's unwavering eyes. Okay, he guessed he'd been in a somewhat similar position before, except the girl wasn't the one threatening to kabob him. It was like, her sibling or something who had a sword. He got out of that by disarming and humiliating them by "accidentally" stealing their belt buckle. Sinbad couldn't do that for more that one reason. So he tried doing what he did best...or worst.
"Estoy tentado a decir Neverland." Sinbad now had a straight face as if what he was saying were true. Idiot. "Pero no creo que te gusten mis chistes. Soy de la cabina de Hermes. ¿E tu?"

Hilda stoos her spear back up, facing the skies as she listened to the little boy. "Estoy de Chile." She answered in Spanish, putting her shield down by the bench, leaning it up against the legs. "¿Cómo te llamas?" The daughter of Athena shifted her weight from one foot to another.

Sinbad was relieved to have the spear away from his chest, though he didn't show any change of expression. He just rubbed where it had left a little imprint and shifted his weight. So his competitor was from Chile? That was cool. He lifted his sword, not to strike, but instead to rest the flat of the blade on his shoulder. He looked relaxed despite his constantly flickering eyes.
"Mi culpa. Soy de Arizona, pero mi mamá es de El Salvador." He broke his relaxed position to move around, pacing back and forth in front of the girl. "Me llamo Sinbad. Lucha contra mí."

The daughter of Athena watched as Sinbad brought out his sword, resting it on his own shoulder. This boy seemed rather pompous for his own good, but she was soon going to correct that. Hilda listened to him conversate with her in español, relieved that she was finally able to have the chance to talk with someone. He was from Arizona? That's nice. She has never been there before, but it seemed like an interesting state. Anywho, she kept her grip on the spear's staff, ready for anything.

After he finished saying what he had to say, she spoke. "Me llama es Hilda María Vélez. Hija de Athena." She gave him a single nod, staring at him with her piercing, grey eyes.

"Quetzalcoa Vélez, hija de Athena," Sinbad repeated after her, but paused. A shadow seemed to cross his face, a grimace forming in determination. The smirk on his face, once childlike and dusted in playful freckles, only seemed to add to the discomforting effect. He made a show of sliding his sword from his shoulder, the blade nicking his neck and causing a small stream of blood to pour, and pointing the sharp end towards his opponent's own chest. It was funny how sword fighting was one of the only few times Sinbad was serious, and even then he had to smile. "Lucha. Contra. Mí."
I bet you're wondering if he noticed that there was blood dripping onto his Castro jersey. The answer is no. Apparently this guy was used to accidentally hurting himself.
