Girlfriend? Yes please! Empty Girlfriend? Yes please!

Astrid walked through the forest smoking a cigarette and carrying her sketchbook under her arm as Kriete and Anster slithered on the forest floor after her watching over Sky and Seamus who were climbing the trees and old logs. She fixed her sunglasses that sat on the bridge of her nose and smirked to herself. There were those days that she felt weak and shy while there were others that she felt like a b@dass and this was one of those days. Her bangles and bracelets clanged together as she climbed a tree to draw away from the world. Even though she wore wedged sneakers she still moved with grace and speed that she would always have from her time as a gymnast.

As she sat in the tree,Astrid heard footsteps below her and told her two snake friends to head Sky and Seamus up to where she sat, which they gladly did and she had the snakes twist around her forearms like she loved, knowing that only she could communicate with them. With a quick swing of her legs she sat with them dangling off the tree branch so she could kick her legs and not hit them against the tree trunk. She took a few more puffs of her cigarette before snuffing it out on her heel and looking to see who or what was walking her way.

Leash in hand, Ken was whistling merrily as she strolled through the forest with Mars the boar, who was snuffling at everything they came across along the path. His legs moved a mile a minute trying to keep up with the tall girl; his short stumpy legs seemed a bit unsuited to running along with a long-legged human holding a leash. Long ago, she had somehow gotten a collar for him from some Hephaestus kids with a little jingly bell that had long since last its jingle; it was black and looked rather dashing on the boar, if she could say so for herself.

Walks in the forest had become common routine for the Ares duo. Kendall could avoid her siblings and any other trouble-makers that lurked abundantly around camp, and Mars could run around in a more controlled fashion without running into things or messing with other people's pets. (The wolf incident from two years ago hadn't seemed to leave a great impression on the boar.) Mars grunted and stopped suddenly, sniffing the ground with a little too much force and forcing the daughter of Ares to pause, the blue leash bunched up in her hand: "What's wrong, boy?"

Clearly, no answer -- until he tugged her in another direction towards a tree.

Astrid laughed slightly from her perch in the tree.I believe that would be me your Boar smells, my darling. The daughter of Loki called from the lowest branch. Sky and Seamus peeked from their hiding spot in their masters lap and, seeing no threat, climbed down the tree and began trying to get the boar to play. Sky, the white ferret, climbed on his back and bounced around gently while Seamus, the brown ferret, made a playful swipe at his snout then chatted in his ferret voice.

Astrid, enjoying the two ferrets being out of her hair, climbed down quickly and landed without a sound in front of the girl. A smile was plastered on her face but disappeared when Kriete and Anster hissed at her to stop being so girly. She quickly scolded them both in parsletongue then turned her attention towards the girl again.Terribly sorry about that, my two cold blooded friends seem to be giving me a hard time again. I am Astrid, daughter of Loki. And who my you be dearest? She asked formally.

Kendall blinked slowly at the girl -- whether it be because of the sudden appearance of this (rather pretty) girl or because of the way she spoke, she didn't know. Mars didn't seem to take kindly to the two ferrets, opting to grunt and paw at the ground like he was about to charge. Sticking her foot between the boar and the ferrets seemed to do the trick in keeping him from mauling the little... fur tubes.

"I... Er." She scratched the back of her neck awkwardly. This certainly wasn't the alone time she'd prayed to the gods for, but she could roll with it. "Kendall. Ares. Yeah." She glanced awkwardly at the two snakes wrapped around Astrid's arm, wondering again what was going on: magic? Perhaps. The daughter of Loki seemed right at home with her little petting zoo of pets, which was perfectly fine if a bit of a hassle to maintain; Ken had enough trouble with a boar, and she couldn't imagine four pets in her care. "And what might you be doing here... friend?"

Astrid noticed the boar not liking her ferrets so she scolded the two in Nprdic and they bounded away. A quick word in Parsletongue had Kriete and Anster slithering after them to make sure they stayed out of trouble. Im doing nothing more than biding my time before I have to go back to my boring cabin alone. I take it there aren't many Norse children here at camp? Mostly Greek and roman, no?She continued speaking formally. She couldn't help it though. After going to some of a finishing school there was little she could do that was considered normal or slang for that matter.

"Not many Norse or Roman. Ninety-five percent Greek, at least." Ken was no good at any type of math, so her estimates should be taken with a grain of salt. She rarely looked at camp surveys or whatever those Athena brainiacs were doing when they went around asking kids all those weird psychology questions.

Still wondering why Astrid was so... oddly formal. Kendall was used to hearing profanity, shortened words, words usually not more than four syllables long only existing once or twice per sentence. Astrid didn't talk like any camper she'd ever heard. "Where are you from, exactly?"

Astrid gave a small, yet friendly, smile. Im originally from Norway but i went to a finishing school in Switzerland for a year or so, thus my formal speech. I do apologize if its a bother, I can't really help it now unless i try to focus on it. She said blushing slightly. Unbeknownst to any of her family, Astrid was lesbian and she really found this girl to be quite attractive and friendly. If being formal meant losing her chance at a girlfriend then she would gladly change to have even a slight chance at making this daughter of Ares hers.

"Oh, no, it's fine. I just thought it was kinda weird 'cause nobody really talks like that at camp -- we all like to swear like sailors, y'know?" The daughter of Ares was scratching the back of her neck as she felt a tug from Mars' leash. The boar was grunting at the girl, looking at her wearily as if she were about to leap out and fly-kick him (as has almost happened before thanks to her bratty siblings) at any moment of their conversation. Kendall glanced down at him and loosened the tautness of the leash to keep him from strangling himself in case he bolted, as he was prone to doing when confronted with some new stranger. "Heh. I don't even remember where I went to school."

It's alright to forget some things that aren't important. I really can change my speech if you wish me to, I don't want to feel more out of place than I already am. Why don't you tell me about yourself Kendall, daughter of Ares? Astrid said sitting on a log and watching Sky pounce and play with Anster.

"Aah, well. That's sort of hard." More awkward neck-scratching here. Kendall wasn't really one to talk about herself; it was almost borderline bragging to her sometimes. "I can't remember a thing past the age of 12 or 13. Got Mars a few years later. I'm decent at a lot of types of fighting 'cause of my dad, I like fishing and running for fun. Yeah."

She inwardly cringed at herself. How unimpressive was her life compared to other demigods', that she could only name two hobbies she liked and one talent? She wished she could remember what her life had been pre-camp, maybe that would have given her more ammo for the conversation. "And, uh. How about you?"

the daughter of Loki thought for a moment then spoke. For the most part I write music on my electric or draw. I'm not nearly as exciting as I used to be, but I'm still just as cunning. I'm also a 'punk' I guess you could say because of my bad habit of making illusions to freak people out and get my way sometimes.Astrid smirked to herself, recalling a few close calls that she used her magic to get out of. I guess for the most part I like being like my father as much as i can without being as dimwitted as he can be and end up tied to a rock like he is now.

Sky, Seamus, Kriete, and Anster all began to wander off and Anster quickly told me they were going back to the cabin to rest and I gave a slight nod of approval.
