It was 1 pm and I hurried into the infirmary, wiping my hands dry on my pants. I was wearing a black tank top with denims and sneakers, quickly attaching my hair into a ponytail.
"Hey Will. Anything urgent?" I asked the son of Apollo as soon as I spotted him.
"Not right now, though if you could help Daniel clean up bed nine over there, that'd be great," he said, bandaging the leg of a Hypnos kid.
The bed was a mess, full of blood, and it took Dan and me half an hour to get it properly cleaned up and fresh for the next patient. (I didn't really wanna know what happened there, apparently there had been some serious surgery going on.) Once done, I helped Chris and Hannah stack the shelves with new jars of medicine, each carefully labelled and arranged by wound type. I was called only once to heal the hand of a small girl who had gotten unlucky at the climbing wall -- that lava was bound to do some damage sooner or later -- so I sat down next to her, trying to soothe her by giving her a fresh drink and telling her some jokes while pouring nectar on her scorched fingers. It took me a bit, but several minutes later she was sauntering out the door with a nice little bandage around her hand and I smiled, turning around to look at my next patient.
"Oh, hey." He was Native American, with long flowing hair and an androgynous face, very delicate features and a calm expression. Just looking into his eyes made me feel much more tranquil, it was really weird. "What can I do for you?" I asked him, letting droplets of water run along my hands to clean them -- they evaporated as soon as I snapped my fingers.
