Madi walked into the archery range her bow in her hand and her quiver full of arrows on her back. There weren't a lot of people practicing now, seeing as everyone is in the Mess Hall eating lunch. There are a couple of people finishing up but for the most part everyone was gone. As for Madi, she ate as quickly as possible so she could come down to the archery range. She loved practicing her archery technique, not that she really needed any more practice. she was the best archer in all of the camp! well, thats what she liked telling everyone. Madi stood in front of a circular target and set up an arrow, pulling the string back, aiming, and letting the arrow fly. Sure enough, it hit right in the center of the target. bullseye.

George walked into the archery range, thinking that this would be a time that it wouldn't be crowded, since many of his fellow campers were still having lunch. He was correct-ish. Still kind of too many people for his liking, which meant he'd have to get close to people to find a target to practice. Meh, it wasn't that big of a deal. People tended to ignore him. Definitely better than getting beat up and harassed. Anyway. Archery. Something George had never tried before. Now, we can't say he had mastered melee combat but certainly training for multiple hours at swordfighting had got bored after five months, so let's change the routine a bit, right? After all, he might find something he's decent at. He went next to -well, not right next to- a girl, couple inches taller, athletic, attractive. Last part was irrelevant, most of camp was good looking. Almost annoying as if tneir genes were flawless. Then again, being 50% Gods this was kind of true. Anyway, what mattered most was that she seemed pretty good with a bow. Maybe an Apollo kid? He tried a shot himself and was surprised to see the arrow fly towards the target. Sadly its heightdeclined fastly and didn't make it to the actual target. Then again, only practice makes perfect when there is no natural talent and he waspretty sure he wasn't that talented.

Madi barely noticed the boy who had just occupied the target next to her. Well, that is until she noticed his arrow fly above the target. Madi couldn't help but laugh a little. Yeah, she knew it was a little mean but this guy looked like he didn't have any idea what he was doing. She sent another arrow towards the target, it finding a new home right beside her first arrow in the small red circle of the bullseye. Madi glanced over at the boy beside her. she has seen him around camp before but never really talked to him. She tucked a strand of her long brown hair behind her ear, not realizing that she was still laughing a little at this boys horrible aim.

George decided to try again. After all that's why he came to the damn place. To keep trying till he found the gods damn target. Sadly for him, archery required, precision, patience and strength. Three qualities he really lacked. Then George noticed that the girl next to him was laughing at his attempts, then firing a perfect shot and laughing again. Yay... a camp of hundreds of demigods and he comes across a showoff. He tried to ignore her while firing another arrow, missing yet again. Son of a mother and father who deeply love and care about you.

Madi couldn't stand it anymore. Her laughing was beginning to get louder and her body was shaking because of it so she couldn't aim right. She looked over at the boy, "i bet that target is getting pretty lonely without any arrows on it" She says, a laugh still in her voice. She sat down on the grass right where she was standing and set her bow beside her and crossing her legs. She just about stopped laughing but she still had a smile on her lips, revealing her white, almost perfect, teeth.

Well then. At least George was apparently being amusing. Something he failed at all the time. He mentally sighed trying not to take offense tp the girl's remark, knowing his reaction would be inappropriate. Crying publicly at his age was frowned upon. As was responding with violence. Or self-harming. Leaving him with not many options really but to ignore her and keep struggling or quit. And it was far too early to quit, George would usually get a lesson taught after the 1000th time. He tried concentrating on his task and finding a target, landing the arrow at the far edge of the circular target. He wanted to respond to the girl but he knew his words would come weak, he'd stutter and it would be rather pathetic.

Madi senses that the boy is uncomfortable and she starts feeling a little bad. When she sees that he actually hit the target this time, Madi claps her hands encouragingly, trying not to make her clapping sound sarcastic. "good job! you hit the target!" She says looking up at the boy from her spot on the grass. "you wanna take a break? you look like your struggling a lot, and stress can make you faint or have a heart attack. trust me, im a doctor." Madi learned from experience about stress. Sure she was kind of a natural with archery and a lot of other things, she seriously sucked at anything musical. Once she tried so hard to learn the piano that she literally passed out. but thats not important right now. Madi patted the spot on the grass next to her, signalling that the boy should sit there, and gave him a bright smile.

Yeah, what an achievement to hit as far from the center as possible, he thought. Though surprisingly the girl had changed her attitude, which was nice enough. She encouraged him to sit beside her after telling him to stop 'struggling' because it would have repercussions, namely causing him to pass aout and/or have a heart attack. George didn't know a lot about the subject though he questioned the apparent Apollo kid. And he questioned it because he struggled at everything he attempted yet nothing of the sort had happened to him. Maybe she was just trying to socialize with him and he was overthinking everything. He nodded and came her way sitting beside her in the grass. "H-hi" he said weakly. "I'm G-george. Cabin s-six." Fortunately he didn't stutter too much, then again he said only a few words.

Madi smiles when the boy sat down beside her. She could tell that he was one of the shyer campers here, but she didn't mind that. not at all. She thought that this boy, George, could be a potential friend. "im Madi, cabin seven. im sorry for laughing at you. i promise i didn't mean the be rude, it just came out." she says casually as she leans back, supporting herself with her hands. She noticed George's stutter but decided to ignore it, everyone has some sort of flaw.

The girl smiled when he sat beside her. George found that oddly encouraging. He replayed what had just happened. Basically the girl went from laughing at him to socializing in a friendly manner. And he wasn't mad at her at all. Was she too good at socializing? George couldn't see himself breaking the ice in a meetup with someone else so easily. Then again, practice makes perfect. And he guessed he had improved a bit so the saying must be true. He tried to smile at Madi, confirmed Apollo daughter. She also apologized which was really nice of her. "N-no problem, l know l-l was pretty bad." he said, surprisingly not bitterly. And with even less stuttering. What's next, making things less awkward?

Madi laughs lightly, "all you need is to keep practicing. well, i didn't need much practice because im a natural. but i guess with all you other people all you can do is practice." She says, starting to get a little cocky, not realizing that she was.

Right. George guessed her point was fair. Though the remark was kind of arrogant. Or maybe she had lconfidence issues and felt the need to state that she was good at archery. He swallowed a complaint of "l'm good at nothing" for two reasons: 1. He didn't want pity and 2. He was fairly sure it wasn't a good start to a conversation. Anyway, let's just find something to say... "Well, th-that's good for y-you. A-any other extraordinary talents y-you posses?" Yes, good. Turning the discussion towards her.

Madi asks curiously.

Right. Well, good for her. Yeah. Though that self-absorption part was an...interesting downside. She in general seemed an interesting person...unlike him. Yay, the negative thought. Always there. Anyway... "W-would it s-surprise you if l replied w-with nothing?" he said.

Madi's lips tug down in a slight frown, "aw c'mon, you have to be good at something!" An encouraging smile replaces the frown. "i know your good at a lot of things." She knew that there were people who lacked confidence but she had never really met one before. She was always surrounded by her siblings who were just as determined to be the best at everything, like herself. Madi knew she wanted to help George with this but... she didn't know how. wow thats a first. she always knew what do do to make people smile and laugh but she didn't have the slightest clue what to do to bring this boys self confidence up. all that there is to do is try

'Aw c'mon, you have to be good at something!' George wanted to start laughing. By the laws of probability, given that he was good at nothing (or at least nothing he had attempted) there were thousands, maybe millions of other talentless people. Then she stated she "knew" that he's good at a lot of things. False. After a few-minute conversation there was no way she'd find a talent of his. Wait, does being awkward count as a talent? George guessed it didn't . Though he appreciated the effort. "K-know? H-how w-would you p-possibly 'know'?"

Madi laughed lightly "its a figure of speech. i dont literally know it but i just.. have a feeling." She smiles as she says this. She really wanted to make him feel better but she doing a very good job about it. George seems almost helpless. almost. Madi is now determined to help him, and nothing is going to make her give up. yeah, it might be a worthless effort but she is still going to try.

Of course he was wrong. George sometimes didn't understand figures of speech, due to them not being logical. Though he found himself using them from time to time, due to basically hearing them everywhere, hence thry had become a part of his vocabulary. She also mentioned she... had a feeling that her claim was true. So, she believed in his ability to do... something, based on instict. Well, to be fair there wasn't much more she could do to make him feel better. Knowing him for few moments she wouldn't be able to have arguments to support any claim. So basically, interact more. "W-well, l-l haven't found anything, a-at least" he clarified, hoping it didn't sound really pathetic.

Madi doesn't say anything for a little bit, thinking. Finally she has an idea and her eyes light up with excitement. "how about i teach you archery!" She says enthusiastically. "maybe if i teach you, you can become good at it!" Madi thought that not only would it be a good way to lift his spirits, it would also be a good way for them to hang out together more. She thought that George and her could become really good friends.

Wow, the girl was really hyper. She was really enthusiastic with her offer to teach him archery, so despite his hesitations and disbelief that they'd make it, he nodded in agreement. "Uh... sure, l-l guess it eouldn't hurt t-trying..." On second thought the girl being enthusiastic maybe was what George needed, with everyone else it would just be awkward and almost painful. Note taken for future interactions, he thought as he went to pick up his bow. "W-where do we start from?" he asked, trying to sound hyped and thankful that his stuttering had started repeatedly deteriorating.

Madi grabs her bow and stands up, happy that George didn't reject her offer. "well first there is the position you stand in and how to hold your bow" Madi stands in front of the target, showing you how to position yourself. "now you stand here and stand how i showed you. i'll correct you if your wrong"

    OOC: Well, that's late.

BIC: George obliged to the girl's instructions. At least he tried to, didn't know how correct his stance was, but he appreciated how eager the Mady girl was. Though he really hoped there was no physical contact to be involved. "H-how's that?" he asked. Deep inside he prayed not to stutter next time. It was getting annoying.

Madi noticed the boys stutter each and every time it happened, and she felt bad for him. It must be super frustrating. She examined George's body looking for something to fix. Madi quickly saw the things that were wrong. "well first of all, you almost got it right! so thats a good thing. Only a couple things though..." she said as she gently took George's shoulders and turned them so they are positioned correctly. She looked into his eyes as she took his wrists and moved his arms with surprising gentleness

George decided to ignore the girl touching him. Or at least try to. I mean, sure, he disliked it, but that wasn't the point. At least she wasn't being violent, right? Right. No reason to be uncomfortable, she's just helping godammit! And pretty gently, as if she understood he didn't like the contact. And she was looking at him in the eyes, as if to support him and prevent him from freaking out- was she a psychic? Like, wow. "S-so, is it o-okay now? W-what's next?" Yes, continue. Maybe the situation would become less awkward. Maybe George had finally found a potential friend. Who knows?
