Rick hated summer solstices. It was that time of the year when he was supposed to show 'love and appreciation' to your godly parents by visiting them on Mount Olympus, basically what he perceived as 'a bunch of totalitarian gods sitting on thrones, killing all who oppose them like a dictator and doesn't give a sh*t about the bureaucrats who work for them.' He valued his life, however, and only ever said it to his only true family. Reyna.
Reyna, he couldn't care less. Out of the thousand memories he had for her, about 6 of them were pleasant: she was still a clingy and whiny kid who loved her mother, the person who brought them to this painful existence.
"Come on, Rick!" she said. "It will be fun."
He sat up in his bed, opening a canteen of alcohol and gulped it down. "F*ck you, Reyna. You want me to come with you to Olympus, where we will meet a bunch of gods who disregard those they are superior to, like, I don't know, Hitler?"
"You should go for once, Rick. Athena's your mother. Don't you should at least get to know her once in your life?"
"Reyna, the only thing I've acquired from Mom is my intelligence, and that's it. I'm not the nicest man in the universe because I'm the smartest, and being nice is something stupid people do to hedge their bets. Like you, Reyna."
She rolled her eyes. "Why do you hate her so much?"
"My point is proven. Go ask your siblings why. Go ask your friends why. They'll tell you the same thing. My only difference is that Mom is a totalitarian ruler who will squash her children, such as myself, like a Gazorpazorp."
Yet, here he was, on the steps of Olympus, wearing a lab coat and jeans, sipping more alcohol and burped. Reyna followed, whose hair was tied into a ponytail, and she was dressed in a yellow top and shorts.
"If you ever blackmail me again, Reyna, the morgue will see you on their list."
"I know." she winked. "Mom would've loved what you had to say."
The demigod grunted, stepping into the throne room, where the gods reigned, each of them attending to their children. Reyna looked around, until she saw her mother Athena upon a throne, and tugged at Rick's coat.
"Don't touch me, you sh*t. This lab coat is brand new."
"There's Mom!" she dragged Rick, who was once again pouring the alcohol down his throat.
