Annabeth's bunk

"Sure...You okay?"I asked gently and placed a hand on his shoulder.I could see something was bothering him but I didn't want to force him to tell me

"I'm fine," James managed a small smile, "But it's Devlin who isn't going to be. His luck powers come with a great cost." James looked at the ground. "He gave me his luck so the curse as I call it will make his life hell for the next few day. It happens every month, I don't know how he stands it.'

I soothingly rubbed his shoulder and smiled."What about you staying with him these days?You can protect him with your luck.We can take him food from the mess hall too"I suggested and nodded."Doesn't that sound good,huh?"

"He actually prefers to be alone. Bad stuff happens to him when people are around." James pointed out. It was true though. The first time he ran into Devlin during this, Devlin got hurt pretty bad. "He gave me some luck earlier, to heal a wound on my shoulder. Just that little thing made him run into a bed post. The curse might make him choke on the food for all I know. It would be best just to leave him alone."

I grimached."Ouch...Yeah,well,you know better."I shrugged and started walking again

James hopped along behind her. What? Is there another way to walk on one foot? He caught up to Annabel an put one hand on her shoulder, "You remember when we first met? I thought we were going to kill each other. But here we are." He grinned. "Guess all it takes is a near death situation."

"And me beating you to a battle"I added and grinned back."I'll have to check that wound later"

James laughed, "You could never beat me." He ran his hand over his shirt, over where his wound was. Obviously he didn't think it though, causing him to soak the front of his shirt with the blood that came out. "I think the bleeding stopped. It should be fine now."

"The bleeding stopped,huh?"I said sarcastically and ran my hand too over his now bloody shirt

James raised an eyebrow, "Don't you think I would know when the bleeding stopped? The shirt just got soaked because of the blood that came out when you stole the wrist band. It was still there. It wouldn't just disappear would it?" He tried taking another step and ended up on his face. He got up grumbling, "Still don't have use of my leg."

I sighed and helped him up.I moved him to the wall and pressed his shoulder's against it."You.Stay here"I said and walked back to the barracks

James let out a loud, completely unnecessary sigh but stayed against the wall as Annabel instructed. It is a hard life being one legged and leaning on the wall didn't do good for it. Slowly he worked his way down and watched as Annabel headed back towards the barracks.

I returned after a minute with a wheelchair."Here is your ride,Mr. Hunter.Which would you like to be your next station?"I asked as I helped him up

James let out another sigh, "I get degraded from crutches to a wheelchair. I can walk somewhat." Yet he still sat in the chair. "Weren't we originally headed towards the mess hall."

"I just wanted to make sure,sir"I grinned and pushed the wheelchair forward

"Do you have short term memory loss or something?" James joked, "We were talking about this for a while." He shook his head dramatically. Maybe a bit to much, causing it to pop. James grimaced and rubbed his neck. He needed a distraction or else he would be made fun of, "Onward! We must reach the mess hall before we die of starvation!" He slumped forward onto his legs and laid still.

"Yes,Sir!"I laughed and helped him back on the chair."Put your seatbelt on first"I reminded him and crossed my arms

James opened his eyes, "No way! These things have seat belts?" He quickly looked around but didn't find any. He looked up at Annabel, putting on his best hurt face, "You lied to me!"

I laughed and messed his hair a little."Awwww!No,I didn't lie.This one has a seatbelt,it was made by a kid of Vulcan who used to live here,for his sister.Let me show you"I offered and kneeled in front of him.From under the chair,I grabbed one seatbelt,passed it up,over his shoulder,down to his leg and under the seat.I repeated this on his right side with the other seatbelt and got up,smiling."There you go!"I told him amd dusted myself off

James scowled and ran a hand over his hair, flattening it back down. He sat there silently while Annabel messed with the seatbelt, then asked, "Why do I even need a seat belt? It's not like we are going to crash."

"No,but it's easy to fall"I explained and started pushing the wheelchair to the mess hall

James scowled, "How can some one fall out of a wheelchair?"

I laughed and started running with the wheelchair."In case I did this!"
