The azure of the sky extended from horizon to horizon, and wasn't troubled by even the most little of clouds. There was a fresh yet soft breeze of wind that calmed the mid-afternoon heat down, but to Laure, it wasn't an excuse not to dress in short clothes. She was wearing a skimpy short and a mauve top that made the light caramel color of her hair shine out. She was wearing high heel shoes set with one flower each, according to the new H&M trend.
Her casual yet elegant footsteps led her to the Lake. After a day of practicing fighting, Latin, and eagle-riding, a nice swam was most welcome.
Her thick hair was open, but there were one or two braids at the side of her temples, holding it's silky mass back. She soon reached the sandy beach, and the watery smell filled her little nostrils.
She looked around, her violet-blue eyes drawing attention because of the line of lilac and golden eye-liner she had traced above them, and saw a rock of which the water had smothened the angles. She sat down on it to take off her shoes.

Samantha still hadn't gotten used to the camp yet. She had been here for months, and she still got lost. It was a delightful day, and she had decided she would try find her bearing around the camp. She had no destination, but somehow found herself staring at a lake. She wasn't dressed for a day at the lake. Sammy wore a long black skinny jean and a checkered coral colored shirt. A little bit formal for the lake. Still, she didn't want to leave, she found the lake relaxing. She scanned the horizon for a place to sit, then saw a older girl. The girl look familiar. Wasn't she that girl I saw in the bathroom on my first day? Samantha asked herself. She strolled in the direction of the girl to make sure.

Zane strolled towards the lake. It was a little late for him, because he enjoyed the morning sun. It was only after noon, but it didn't satisfy the sun of Lucifer. He looked around hoping he would find some company near the lake. The lake seemed like a place for relaxed people, just Zane's type. He wore a plain white t-shirt and shorts, maybe he would go for a swim? Though he doubted that. He walked around with his iPod in his hand and his earphones in his ears, thinking of the first time he was here. Man, was that an adventure. He was so lost in thought, that he bumped into a girl [Laure]. The girl was very pretty, she looked about his age, with long caramel hair. "Um, sorry." Zane managed. He was sorta at a loss of words.

Someone bumped into her and she looked up, shocked by the impact. But her shock disappeared as soon she realized that it was a boy.
    A handsome boy.
He had short brown hair, like it was in use at the Roman Camp. The color was pretty: somewhere between chocolate and sienna. It caught the reflections of the sun and had blonde highlights. He had a straight nose and nice eyes, even though she couldn't see what color it was. He had a lanky, yet muscled built.
She gave him a flirtatious smile.

"It's no problem at all," she said in her nice voice, her French accent poking through.

Out of the corner of her eyes, she noticed another girl calmly strolling their way, but she didn't recognize her.

Zane wasn't really expecting the reaction he had received from the girl. Every girl he had accidentally bumped into had either shouted at him, or slapped him, but this girl was different. She acted somehow calmer, maybe had been too stereotypical about other girls. He grinned when he heard the girls voice, he could hear it wasn't exactly American. European, maybe. He blushed as he realized he only about an inch away from her. He took a step back and smiled awkwardly, "And what is the name of the girl that I had the pleasure of bumping into?" he asked after a short pause.

Sammy stopped in her tracks as she saw the girl talking to an older boy. She wasn't sure what to do now, she hadn't planned on this. She stared at the two of them for a while, then noticed that the girl had seen her. Sammy looked down at her feet, her ballet flats looked very interesting all of a sudden. The daughter of Morta knew she couldn't stand in the middle of nowhere staring at the ground. She slowly approached the two older demigods, careful not to trespass on their conversation... If they even had one.

Laure shot him a candid look. The sun rays shone in her eyes, making her irises look like velvet. She studied his neat, regular features a bit before answering.

"My name is Laure," she replied, "And I'm from the Second Cohort."

She smiled a little more, showing her even white teeth, then looked down and back up again. Crossing her shapely legs in order to raise his attention on them, she leaned back on the rock.

"And who are you?" Laure asked.

Now she could see the other girl neatly. She had long black hair and had that goth look to her. Overall, she wasn't the type of girl Laure appreciated. First of all, she hated black. Second, she hated depressed persons, since she was a bubbly girl who wanted nothing but fun.

The two demigods looked like they had just met, at least that's how Sammy saw it. She was fairly good at reading people's expressions, because, well, she preferred not to have straight forward confrontations. If anyone wanted to talk, then they would approach her, she was never one to go barging into someone's conversation. But she was making an exception this one time. She felt somehow obliged to intrude. She moved a stray strand of long dark hair from her eye, the way she always did when she became nervous. Her brown eyes looked hazel in the sunlight as she stepped forward. She then realized a Lar was floating near her. They were somehow attracted to Sammy, wherever she went, she saw one. "Go away," she scolded the Lar in a hushed tone. She looked up and noticed the boy looking at her.

Zane cocked his head a bit to the right and stared at the girl [Laure] for sometime. He hadn't even realized what he was doing until she had spoken. He quickly straightened up and grinned, "Nice name," he eventually said. He scratched his head thinking about how he would respond, but instead found himself staring into Laure's somewhat velvet eyes. Her eyes were beautiful, no doubt,, just like she was, but she reminded him of someone. "Za-" he began to say when he heard the sound of a little girls voice saying he should go away. He turned away from Laure and looked at the younger girl, confused. "Were you talking to us?" he asked, accusingly.

Laure had heard the girl, too. 'Go away' - she hoped, like the boy, that she hadn't been talking to them. She had, as Laure had noticed, long black hair and dark wide eyes. Her face was round and made Laure think of the Moon: a silvery sphere with shadows for craters: her eyes. Her dark clothes only emphasized the paleness of her skin.
She was young, perhaps thirteen or twelve, or so Laure judged. There was something about her she didn't recognize, something that made her grow cold for some odd reason. Okay, there were loads of 'weird' people at Camp Jupiter, but this girl was different.

Sammy immediately looked horrified at the thought of telling the older demigods to leave. She had not intended for them to hear her, she was only talking o the stupid Lar that had followed her. She blushed then put on a fake smile, "Oh no, I wasn't talking to you," she explained. She looked up at both of them and blushed a bit, she really wasn't good at socializing. "There was Lar here a minute ago, he was following me and I was telling him to leave. You see, I'm a daughter of Morta and these things follow me everywhere-" she stopped for a moment, thinking she had said too much, "Anyways, sorry," she said in a squeaky voice. Not the type of voice you'd expect from a girl dressed in mainly black.

Zane calmed down a bit after hearing what the girl had to say. He even smiled at her, but now he was confused. Should he just ignore her and carry on with his conversation with Laure? Or should he include her in the conversation? He didn't have much time to think so he did what he always did. He didn't think. "It's no problem at all," he said smiling awkwardly. "Well, er, I'm Zane," he said to both girls, "And this is Laure" he told the younger girl. He smiled at Laure, but he was silently asking her a question, What now?

Laure nodded, even if Morta, the goddess of Death, was a bit rejective for her. Now she understood that feeling of cold she had had when seeing the girl.

"Oh yes, Lars can be quite nerving," she said in a light tone, recalling the Lar of the Fifth's Cohort, Vitellius.

Everybody at Camp Jupiter made fun of him. He was so clumsy, with his big clothes that constantly slipped down and his belt that wouldn't stand in place.... Laure's rosy-red lips twisted into an amused smile as she reviewed the memory.

    She caught Zane's look.
    Zane... nice name.
It made her think of the book 'Pretties', where Tally's boyfriend was called Zane.

She answered that look with an amusing one: You chose, she thought. She didn't care if the younger girl joined them, even though it would made matters more difficult as far as flirting was concerned.

Sammy smile grew wider, and beamed at the two. They seemed like really cool people. She thought most older teens were cooler because they were the only ones who seemed to understand. She didn't choose to look Gothic, it just helped keeping unwanted people away. She figured that most people wouldn't want to talk to a creepy little girl dressed in black, and she was right. Only older teens understood why she did this, it's not like she hated people, it's just that she didn't want unnecessary attention. It was just so she could hide herself because every time she tried socializing something weird happened.
Her smile slowly faded as she thought, without meaning to a distant expression appeared on her face. Her face turned paler than usual and her eyes turned from a bright hazel color to a darker tone of brown. She quickly snapped herself back to reality and faked a smile again. "Um, I'm Sammy," she told them, "I mean Samantha," she quickly corrected herself. She looked at the both of them intently and she was sure they were having a silent conversation. About what? She had no idea.

Zane's hand quickly moved the back of his head, the way it always did when he was confused, or in an awkward position. He could read Laure's expression pretty well, Whatever you want. But what did he want? He didn't mind having the daughter of Morta among them, but he wouldn't say he preferred it over being alone with Laure. He scratched his head thinking of something to say, but all that came out was, "Umm, well, nice to meet you Sammy." He extended his hand to shake hers. His hand seemed quite large compared to that of Samantha's. How old was she? he thought to himself. Did it matter? It's not like she'll be sticking around for too long. Zane wondered how those thoughts got into his head. He usually enjoyed the company of little kids. Maybe Laure was making him nervous. He had never seen such a beautiful girl acting all flirtatious to him. He had to admit, it felt weird.

"Sammy?" Laure politely said. "That's cute!"

She gave her a nice smile.

"And yes, as Zane just said, I'm called Laure," she added, putting the French accent on her name. "So you're daughter of Morta? How cool. I know loads of people who'd like to have a parent like yours."

She was right: many demigods at Camp complained, especially about the teenagers. Lots of them wanted a 'dark' parent: Letus, Morta, Trivia, and sometimes, if they were daring, even Pluto. Laure just saw it as teenage immaturity in order to raise attention, and she didn't pay attention to it much. She was very happy with Aurora being her mother: at least she could see her every day even though it wasn't in human form. And Laure instinctively knew Aurora watched over her and cared about her; and that was all she needed. Along with Lindia, of course.

Post by Lady Reyna 5/20/2013, 10:00 am

Sammy politely shook Zane's hand, then smiled at Laure. Samantha didn't find anything cool about having Morta as her godly parent, in fact she found it sorta annoying. She could speak to the dead, okay, that was cool. But the dead following her around, that was not cool. She even had this cold, sorta dark presence that scared of people. That's what she hated most, she loved meeting new people even if she wasn't that great at socializing, but her mother being Morta made that extremely hard. "Well, those demigods have no idea how having a parent like her is. I honestly find it sad that a person like me has a parent like her. I mean she's the goddess of death, that's not cool, that's sorta creepy," Sammy said bluntly. She didn't care if Morta sent a army of dead against her, she was just saying how she felt. Suddenly, the air around them grew a bit colder, Sammy knew her mother had heard her.

Zane grinned at Sammy, he had never seen someone so young have such a strong opinion. She sorta reminded him of himself, when he was younger, of course. Zane had always spoken his mind, maybe that's what got him in so much trouble. That was after the incident, he thought to himself. It seemed like such a long time ago, but it hadn't even been two years. Zane had changed so much the past year. No one in his old life would even recognize him, and that's how he liked it. He changed...for the better, he hoped. Zane realized his face had turned into a serious expression, unlike his normal relaxed one. He shook his head, snapping himself back to reality. "At least she's not as bad as Lucifer," Zane said casually. He knew he shouldn't be throwing around godly names like that, but he didn't really like his father. Sure, he was there every morning, but was he ever really there? Zane hated his father for abandoning his mother. Even after knowing that gods couldn't stick around, he resented Lucifer. "Morning star," he muttered. Zane could also feel the air grow colder, but he didn't say anything. He knew the gods were watching them now.

Laure opened her mouth in surprise.

    Lucifer?

Zane was Lucifer's son? Which made him.... Kind of her half-nephew.
Her surprise wore off and she smiled greatly.

"I know who Lucifer is," she said, "because my mother is Aurora.... your grandmother."

She laughed, the blonde waves of her hair dancing around her pale face. Her laugh was like a light waterfall, with a little tinkle to it. Some found her laugh nerving, some found it nice.

"I'm sorry I'm laughing," she chuckled, "but it's always so odd to come here at Camp and meet so many people who are related to you in various ways!"

She continued laughing and pushed her hair back before calming down. She had never met Lucifer, yet she could see him every morning, in the sky. The morning star was not easily overseen by somebody like her, who had watched the morning sky ever since she was old enough to walk to the window.
Yet Laure had always been fascinated by the notion of having the Morning Star, the Dew, and the four Winds as half-brothers and half-sister. She was very pleased to have met Zane. She was sure that, under his good looks, he hid a wonderful nature.

"What?" Zane said, laughing, but in terrible shock. He started coughing because of this, but soon got it under control. He straightened himself up and looked at Laure in shock, "That means you're like my aunt?" he asked. Zane had enough trouble believing that his father was Lucifer, now he had to believe that this girl was his aunt. Zane shook his head in dismay, "What?" he repeated. He tried not to think of Laure as his aunt because that was just too weird. All of the godly stuff was weird. He just couldn't bring himself to believe it. His eyes widened as he pictured Laure doing aunt stuff, like scolding him or saying something like, Oh dear, look how much you've grow. He shook his head to get that image out of his head, and just began laughing. "Woah," was all he could say.

Sammy was in as much shock as Zane, but she seemed to be taking it easier since it had nothing to do with herself. Still, it was weird that Laure, who seemed to be younger than Zane, was his aunt. Samantha pushed the thought out of her head, she hated mixing up gods and their children. It was just awkward for her, like now. She felt awkward listening to that. She moved a little bit back as Zane began to cough, she could imagine what Zane was thinking. After seeing Zane's reaction, she couldn't help but laugh along with them.

    Laure nodded.

"More like your half-aunt, in fact," she chuckled.

It was truly funny to think that this handsome young man was her half-nephew. She considered treating him as so, but restrained herself. He was far too good-looking. Laure playfully curled a wavy streak of hair around her finger and laughed with Zane.

"Yes, families are complicated," she said in a matter-of-fact tone, whereas her violet-blue eyes betrayed her cheerfulness. "And if I may say, I think that our whole family is the most complicated ever."

She laughed again and looked at Sammy.

"Let me think... how are we linked in the family?"

Sammy thought about her mothers history for a moment. She looked at the sky trying to remember her mothers parents, when she finally said, "Well, my mom is one of the Parcae," Samantha said thoughtfully, "the Fates as we now call it," she translated. "And the god of night is their father, so if Aurora is related to him..." she said still thinking, "That's how we are related!" she concluded. Sammy wasn't sure what she said, she tried not to think of her godly side of the family, it was just too complicated. Just trying to figure out how Laure was related to her gave her a small headache. "Can we just forget about our godly side of the family?" Samantha asked after a short pause.

Zane stopped laughing and tried to process what Sammy just said. "Interesting," he murmured. He wasn't exactly sure if Laure and Sammy where related, and he wasn't sure he wanted to know. It was creepy enough that Laure was his aunt. Zane looked at Sammy then grinned, "Agreed, no more godly talk," he said. It wasn't that he didn't understand their family relations, it's just that he could feel his dad's presence for some reason. Zane didn't want to be using his name while he was here. It just felt weird. The son of Lucifer looked at both the girls, "So, where are you girls from?" he asked, trying to get away from the previous topic.

BIC: Laure chuckled, her blonde hair swaying over her shoulders and around her face.

"Yeah, let's just forget about our godly family side," she laughed. "It's already so complicated!"

Then she turned to Zane, who had just asked a question. She couldn't help but study him in the sunlight: his short chocolate-brown hair, his dark eyes and his sun tanned skin.

"I'm from France," Laure said, "but I believe my accent already betrayed me."

Sammy looked down, she didn't want to say where she was from, it made er feel inferior. She always thought that people would look down on her, because she was from South Africa. Many people where so stereotypical, she almost didn't want to tell the two other demigods, but she couldn't stay silent. She quickly said, "South Africa" before she could change her mind. "But I guess you couldn't tell that from my accent," she said after hearing Laure's comment. She looked at Zane and asked, "And you? Where are you from?"

Zane had no idea that these two great girls weren't even from this country. He had heard Laure's accent, but Sammy didn't have much of an accent. Zane had never heard a South African speak before, so it could have been that. He could, however, hear that Sammy didn't have much of an American accent either. "Uh, well, I'm from San Francisco," he said slowly, "Other end of the country." He laughed a bit, his eyes twinkling with amusement. He hadn't met anyone out of this country before.
