Deniel (Remade from Harou) Empty Deniel (Remade from Harou)

Post by Harou 10/20/2013, 4:16 pm

Name: Deniel (That's pronounced like "Denial" by the way) No last name. (Doesn't remember)

    Gender: Male

    Mortal Parent: Taylor

God Parent: Thanatos, God of Death and the Reaper of Souls

Date of Birth: October 31, 1997

Place of Birth: Los Angeles, California. He didn't stay for very long though, as he traveled across the United States after his mother's death.

Hometown/Last Residence: Los Angeles was his hometown for the first few years of his life, until he began to wander. From then on, he slept where he could. In a tree, on a park bench, in the woods, in the mountains, where he was he simply found a place to sleep and let himself doze off.

Race/ethnicity: Caucasian ethnicity. Most of it can come from European countries, like Germany, France, and Italy. It's barely noticeable in him though, as he was born in Los Angeles and traveled around the United States, he acts like none of his original races.

    Accent: New York English

Skin Tone: Pale. (Not white like a ghost though.)

    Eye Color: Icy light blue

    Hair Color: Jet black

Hair Length: The back of his hair covers his neck and almost goes to his shoulders. His bangs in the front of his face are covering his whole forehead, and a few strands sometimes go down enough to cover part of his eyes.

Height: Six feet, three inches tall. (190.5 centimeters.)

Weight: 168 pounds or 76.2035 kilograms if you want to be exact.

Body Type: Mesomorph; a very muscular body, mostly at his upper body. Some would classify it as "Rhomboid". It doesn't look like he's a body builder though, only very muscular for his age. Meaning they're very noticeable with just once glance, but not enough to the point where his blood vessels would be bulging. Gross.

Appearance: As said before, he is a tall and muscular person. Fairly long jet black hair, icy blue eyes, and pale skin. His canine teeth can be seen to be a tad bit sharper than normal, but not so much as you would see a vampire. Just three milometers if you want to be exact. His face though has toned skinny toned cheekbones, much unlike his muscular appearance. His eyebrows are the same color as his hair, black, and they're almost never seen down. Meaning he's a person who never really frowns at all, much unlike who he used to be. He has very little to no hair on his body or his face. The only thing that he keeps is a very small amount of facial hair under his chin just so he could stroke while he's thinking.

Weapon: A katana made of Stygian Iron that's three feet long, excluding the hilt, with a black scabbard to match. The hilt is one foot long, long enough to where he could use both of his hands if he wanted to, and wrapped in a black gauze-like material for comfort. Under the gauze though the hilt is a white color, and the gauze is in a pattern to where it makes several diamond shapes along the hilt, exposing the white part. The scabbard is made out of one of the strongest types of wood out there: Hickory, and is coated in a thick layer of black colored leather. Because of this thick and hard wood material, he sometimes won't even have to use the blade to do some real damage. The blade itself, as I said, is made from Stygian Iron, and has a small curve-like structure to it just like other katanas have.

A Stygian Iron combat knife. The blade has one razor sharp edge on it and is eleven inches long, while the back of the blade has a more jagged design to it to create much less clean wounds. The handle is made of pure leather and is four inches long, long enough to where he can grip it with one hand only and still have some adjustment room. He keeps it inside a black leather scabbard that's usually kept at the back of his waist so foes won't be able to see he has one. The whole point of this is to surprise opponents by one sneak attack, or use it as a last resort in case he loses his katana in any way possible. Lightweight, sharp, and small; it's a perfect close quarters weapon.

Armor: Most of his armor protects his upper body. He has a curved shoulder plate on his right shoulder with three spikes on it made out of Stygian Iron like this katana. The shoulder has a plate design to it instead of mail or chain, and it covers his entire shoulder, shoulder blade and even three inches of his arm to make sure nothing would get through.

He also wears a pair of black leather gloves. The gloves lack fingertips so he could grab objects easier and add a bit of comfort as well. They cover his palm, the back of his hand, and three inches beyond his wrist. On the back of his hands is where the Stygian Iron is, covering the back of his fingers, his hands, his wrist, and a bit of his arm. The bottom part has absolutely no armor on it though, which can be considered its weak point. This isn't intentional, its only necessary for some comfort and giving him the ability to actually grasp objects.

He keeps a piece of Stygian Iron armor hidden under whatever shirt he's wearing, so it could be a bit of a surprise to anyone. The piece covers his chest, his back, and his stomach. It's made out of the strong black Stygian Iron material, but it's been made so thin that it can't be noticed unless touched or hit. The only place he won't keep armor on his his head, his left shoulder, and his lower body. However, the armor that he keeps on his chest, back, hands, and shoulder is something he'll be wearing at all times, so he can always be prepared at least.

    Pet(s): None

Skills/Talents: 1. A major part of him is his sword fighting skills that he learned over the years called "Iaido". Iaido is a style of swordplay that's mostly used with katanas, hence why he has one, and it involves using both the scabbard and the blade. The user will either hit the opponent with the scabbard and blade, or just the blade itself. Once the user has hit their opponent, they wipe the blood off the blade by swinging it in the air a bit and then sheathing it back inside the scabbard. The main advantage to this is speed, as a katana is not only lightweight, but practice with Iaido can also develop someone's speed with drawing and cutting with the actual blade. Match his practiced speed and his physical strength, and you've got a dangerous swordplay.
    2. I'll mention it over and over again, his philosophy. To put this one simple, he has what people call "A silver tongue".

Flaws: 1.Because of his lack of seriousness, sometimes that can result in people getting annoyed, or even him getting himself in trouble for not taking something seriously at first.
    2. Sometimes though, his philosophy can be a little too direct and perhaps easily hurt someone's feelings. So his choice of words can definitely be a flaw.
    3. Although most people might not consider it terrible, his childish attitude towards things can perhaps very easily get on people's nerves.
    4. Not only is he not serious, but he's also sometimes an uncaring person. If someone's having an emotional breakdown, don't expect him to start acting sad as well.
    5. His fingernails are quite unusual. Some of them are longer than others, some of them look like they're badly bitten off. It's a mix with all of his fingers, and someone could easily notice something like that.
    6. Short term memory loss. Sometimes he does it on purpose, sometimes it's unintentional, but he will simply forget what he was doing in a place and why. When it's on purpose, it's only to fool someone else or just give himself a little joke. When it's unintentional, then that's when he has a problem.
    7. His pale skin and sharper canine teeth can be considered physical flaws, usually dependent on the person though.
    8. He has a dark shade under his eyes, but they aren't sagging bags. His pale skin makes it a lot more noticeable though. A dark spot surrounded by pale skin can stand out. No matter how much he seems to sleep though, these shades under his eyes seem to be permanent.

Strengths: 1. As he spent most of his life practicing his swordplay, he also practiced using his own battle strategy. He's almost an expert in combat and quick thinking. Not only this, but his own time alone, growing up without much of an education, made him a bit of a deep thinker. He often has his won morals or philosophical quotes to himself or others.
    2. His "Killer instinct" can be considered a strength. It's almost like a voice inside his head, or even a hunch. It tells him what to do, what to say, and even something to do while he's in a fight. This is what guided him to the Camp, and he still uses it today.
    3. He is also a very strong, as his body is muscular, and agile. He's fast and strong, making him lethal in combat or an expert in being an athlete.

Weaknesses: 1. Although he's a good thinker, that doesn't apply where it should could. He's very easily one of the worst academic people, barely knowing bath and history of the world. He can speak proper English, but don't expect him to use big words. This doesn't mean that he's the kind of "You weak, I strong! Strong win!" Kind of guy, definitely not my friend. His philosophy speaks for him most of the time, and when he's fighting, there's not much to talk about anyways. More of the "Dunno' what that is...." kind of saying.

Likes: 1. He hates academics and thinking, so he prefers when something has a simple solution that even he can solve.
    2. "Kicking a**" is one of his favorite things to do. Although he doesn't kill or want to be killed, he always considers it fun to just have a nice spar once in a while. Not built out of anger or revenge, just for practice or even fun.
    3. Although he doesn't like people, he knows he has to be around them so he sometimes likes to be around friends and make a few jokes.
    4. STRAWBERRY SUNDAES! His absolute favorite food of all time. He only ate five of them on his entire journey across the United States, but he REALLY fell in love with them. Ever since having his first one, he always hungered for more of it. Each time he got one, he savored it as best as he could. Although with how insane he was getting, it was hard to savor it like a normal person.

Dislikes: 1. People in general. Whether it's a mortal, a demigod, a god, or even a titan, he doesn't like people too much. As he grew up and looked around himself while traveling from state to state, he always noticed how people treated each other in terrible ways and grew to dislike them. Although he can be considered a bit of a hypocrite, as he's also a person and has things wrong with him, he always strives to better himself and hopefully get rid of the terrible attributes that apply to him as a person.
These kinds of people can include:
    Perverts
Jerks (That's saying a lot coming from him.)
    Show offs
    Mary Sues
Cruel people (Even though he used to be one)
    2. From his weaknesses stated above, he hates academics or even thinking too hard.

Fears: He fears his own past more than anything else, as he regrets doing everything he did before. He says he was a child, a fool, and a terrible person. Because he fears his own past, he knows that he has to pay for what he did back then, and that's what he fears the most. The day where he will have to be judged and brought to justice for the crimes. Although he doesn't want it to happen, he makes himself say he has to. "Justice is brought on criminals, so it must be brought on me as well."

Personality: Deniel's personality has come a long way since the day he first ran away, to where he first arrived at camp, to now. What was once an innocent child grew into a psychopath with anger issues and a heart blacker than space. Although he's matured and grown up, he still has a childish part of him. It's mostly a part on which he acts like an idiot on purpose, makes a few childish jokes, or simply acts like a child. The way he does it though is almost impossible to be considered a flaw, as he does it purely out of fun and won't be the "Temper-tantrum" kind. His childish attributes can be considered a major part of his personality, especially with his childish jokes. He's a person who's always trying to have fun or a good time, and never seems to loose his attitude. He tries to make the best out of bad situation, and he can sometimes consider a bad situation "Good" all because it brings him a challenge and something to do. That can also be linked to him being an optimistic person, he almost never looks on the negative side of situations. Because he's such an optimistic and positive person, he never seems to ever not only be angry, but sad or down. He loves to laugh at things, whether its mocking it or saying its even "Stupider" than him. The most significant part about him is how he is never serious. Someone could die right in front of him, someone could try and kill him, or he could be surrounded by a bunch of monsters. What will he do? He'll just say "Oh....okay. Looks like I got a lot of work to do." Not all the time, but you get the picture. He'll never be serious, and is always his casual, positive person.

Powers: 1. Shadow Travel: Twenty-five miles total. When he reaches up to ten miles, that's when the fatigue starts to kick in, more of a worn out fatigue than a drowsy type of one. Next five miles will make him drowsy, the next ten will pretty much make it so he has to find somewhere to sleep fast, or he won't be up for long. He has almost no way of fighting this type of drowsiness though, as if a sleeping venom would be cast on him. He has at least five minutes or so before he will simply collapse on the ground or wherever he is and fall asleep. So he's got to pay attention to his weariness and his numbers.

    2. Necromancy: Ghosts and skeleton warriors.

Ghosts: He may have up to only two ghosts at once, but they require little to no energy to summon. Although they require no energy, he does need time to summon another one or two after he reaches his limit. If he's used his limit, he must wait twelve hours until he can summon another two. So speaking exact: He can summon up to four per day. The ghosts aren't actual spirits of the dead, but merely spirits he molded himself. The ghosts are of much less use of combat than the skeleton warriors, and they're more used for utility purposes. The ghosts can't attack in any way possible, but they can be attacked. Since they're just spirits though, physical attacks won't do what you want them to. Various types of powers that do damage are the only things that will damage them, and they'll usually just fade away in one or two hits. No matter how you look at them, they're not good for combat at all. That's the thing though, they're used for utility and information. They can phase through walls, almost completely camouflage themselves by bending light, and can communicate with Deniel or perhaps other sons of Thanatos or even Hades. This is because they don't actually speak English or any other language known to people, not even Greek. It's just a series of moaning our loud sounds  that someone like him or a related God parent to him can understand clearly. They obey Deniel's every command and will never disobey him once. With fading through walls and hiding themselves, they can perhaps listen in on something or just eavesdrop. Each ghost lasts for fifteen minutes until they fade away, or Deniel can simply banish them when he wants to. How do they look? Well, just a typical ghost that looks like a white bed sheet with eyes over it. Because Deniel is so childish, that's how he made them.

Skeleton Warriors: Here's the fun part. These ones are for combat only. Each Skeleton warrior is the height of an average US male, about five foot ten. Shorter than Deniel, but still pretty tall. Each Skeleton is equipped with random weapons. Swords, shields, axes, and maces. It's completely random to what will be on a Skeleton, even Deniel doesn't know. He might get a skeleton with two shields, hahah, two swords, a sword and an axe, or even a two handed axe one. Each weapon is made of Stygian Iron like Deniel's weapons. Each Skeleton will also be dressed in a full set of plate Stygian Armor. Almost covered from completely head to toe, they've got the horned helmets, the shoulder pads, the chest plate, the gloves, and even the boots for it all. Although Stygian Iron is pretty much invincible, these skeletons are not. There are places in the joints where the skeletons bones are visible. This includes the shoulders, the elbows, the knees, and the neck. Should someone cut through these, the limbs will fall right off. And that's where the limit comes in. Each skeleton will last about seven and a half minutes before they just fall to the ground  and vanish. However, if three limbs are cut off, then the skeleton will disappear the same way. The one exception is the neck. If the neck is cut off, then it'll just disappear right away. Deniel can only have up to five skeletons at once to keep himself nice and refreshed. Should he summon even one more he'll leave himself completely vulnerable, just like his shadow travel, he'll fall sleep. So if he wants to summon ten, go ahead and let him, those skeletons are going to have their work cut out for them to protect their master. He may summon to his limit or beyond his limit every ten hours. If he doesn't go to his limit though, then each skeleton will take two hours to recharge. For example: He summons three skeletons, he has only two left. If two hours pass, then he has three left. Basically saying: Every one skeleton takes two hours to recharge. So if he summoned ten skeletons and fell asleep, it'll take twenty hours for him to be able to do that again, and let's not forget the sleep. Like the ghosts, the skeletons will obey his, and only his, every command. If he wants them gone, they'll be gone. If he wants them to attack, they'll attack. Defend? No problem. Halt, sure, why not?

    Social Status: Loner for now

Summer or Year Rounder: Year Rounder

Years at Camp: Two years. First year was when he was still a psychotic tempered kid, who couldn't do anything but act depressed and argue with people. Second year he began to mature a bit, but only kept himself isolated and doing nothing as he finally began to practice his skills.

Life Before CHB: Before Camp Half Blood, Deniel was born in Los Angeles California with the blood of Thanatos flowing through his veins. He lived with his mother, Taylor, for about seven years of his life. He loved his mother, she had never wronged or done anything terrible to him. Although he was a son of Thanatos, she wasn't afraid of him and only wanted to raise him like a normal child, hoping that he would never take anything after his father. Deniel was clueless about his father as well. As a kid he felt normal, and everything around him was normal. He went to school, he educated himself, he played with his friends, and he had a smile on the face that carried the black hair and the light blue eyes. That all changed one day though. It was his birthday, Halloween ironically, he was ten years old. A day where kids have fun dressing up as ghouls, goblins, scary things. Making fun of death even, playing tricks on people. Someone though, took it too far. As he was trick-or-treating with his mother on a Halloween night, something had caught them both by surprise. Someone had taken Halloween too far, a killer to be exact. As they were heading down one of the streets, connected to an alleyway, his mother heard something inside it. She motioned for him to go along with her, as she was afraid of leaving him alone at night. He followed her without question, but little did he know that would be the last time he would see her. Suddenly, as if everything had happened in a flash, his mother had let go of his hand as a knife was dug into her chest from a man that had been hiding. Deniel at first gazed upon the scene in horror, as his mother was trying to scream in pain, but the shadowy figure held her mouth shut. A normal kid would scream and run, but Deniel was not normal.

The second thing he saw was the crimson color in the night. Blood. The sight of blood suddenly awakened something within Deniel, an instinct. A killer instinct. Seeing the blood suddenly caused the child to spring into action to help his mother. As if he had instantly grown ten times stronger than he was before, he pulled the knife from his mother, swiped it right away from the man's hand, and impaled him with it. His mother, having only a few last breaths until she finally laid on the floor dead, said only a few last words. "Run, son of Thanatos.......to New....York......" She barely muttered before she too was lifeless on the ground, just like the man Deniel had stabbed.

From that day fourth, Deniel followed that killer instinct that awakened inside of him. Although saddened and grieved by the death of his mother, the feeling inside of him guided him across the United States. It seemed as though the Killer Instinct was guiding him in a different way. It was like a magnet to another magnet. It seemed as if something were pulling him to the west part of the United States. That, and the words his mother said before he died. Not only the "Son of Thanatos part, but also the 'to New York' part. At first he following the instinct, going West, but he didn't know what New York was. Several times while he was traveling, he asked a few people about it and how to get to it. Some questions came up, and Deniel always lied his way. Saying "It's for school" or "My dad wants to know" or "I've heard of it". People told him what it was and just said "It's on the Northeast part of the United States". Because of this, Deniel always found himself going east, and finally heading North when he arrived at the right state, which is when he arrived around Ohio and the states west to that. From. Wherever he went, he killed many people, using the very same knife that his mother was killed by.

His first victim was only three months after his mother's death, and he was still at the age of ten. No one would ever suspect a ten year old would be accused of murder, and even if someone did get the bit least suspicious, he still made sure that he did it very carefully. The thought of killing triggered a memory inside of him for when he could remember his mother watching the news. Every time a killer was caught, he remembered the way the police caught him. Witnesses, being a suspect, history, fingerprints, etc. From those memories, he knew that he had to be careful. He was a son of Thanatos, although he never knew, it was easy for him. First off was the person he asked, he always made sure no one else saw him, and that they were literally the only person who saw him, so they wouldn't get suspicious. He also had to hide from sight while traveling, so he took alleyways, or even traveled at night mostly. Then he would pick the victim. If he found any person doing something that angered him inside; then he would chose them for a killing. He would make sure to eye them away from sight and in the shadows, finding a spot that he knew they would be alone, and they went there everyday at night. Once the perfect time came, he made sure to do it swiftly and silently. The victim would never guess that a little kid could do any harm, so he made his move as soon as they were looking away from him and no one was around. None of them got a single chance to even scream before they fell to the ground lifeless. And that's when Deniel would quickly run away from the scene and straight out of the city the same night. Since no one but one person saw him, no one would suspect him. There wasn't much to go by, as there were no witnesses or fingerprints. And since he was gone the same night, no one would ever see him again. Simple, yet pretty much impossible to find. He always made sure to stab the victims in different spots though, to make sure there wasn't a pattern to go by either. Each kill would take about one week to do, so he didn't do it for every place he visited. From then on, he didn't stop. His dislike for people and mass killing spree were both sparked by this. He observed, planned, and then swiftly killed any person the instinct guided him to.

Hunger caught up with him easily though after only weeks of traveling, and he knew he had to find a way to get food. So he decided that he should take a small risk. After he killed the victims, he quickly felt their pockets to find their wallets, where he took only the cash out of it so he could at least buy food. When he entered the next town, he hate, but he didn't give himself a feast. He only ate what he needed, and was gone out of the town shortly after that. He only needed to keep himself from dying of hunger, and that's how he made the money last a long time until he had to steal more from another victim. He went through about five victims before he had to steal money again.

From California, to Nevada, Utah, going down to Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, up to Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and finally New York from where people told him. He traveled around so easily because he followed the roads outside of town. But he never did go along them, as people would easily notice that. He always either made sure to travel at night, or go inside nearby orange tree farms or anything to where he wouldn't be seen by people on the road. He followed alongside the roads, not on them and found himself going west from place to place with ease. He didn't need to have a sense of direction, only a road to follow. And roads leading east were not uncommon. New York is where he stayed the longest, and that's how he picked up the accent and slang terms from listening to people he was around. New York was also the place where he ceased his killing, as he stayed there for so long and didn't have any other place to run to. By the time he reached New York, he had killed over one hundred people across the United States. Almost every state he visited, he killed seven people; more or less. His caution, lack of patterns, no witnesses, little detection, hit and runs, always on the move, and thief of money from the dead corpses assured that he was never caught, suspected, found, and making it safely to New York.

Luckily for him, when he arrived in New York from Pennsylvania three years after he began his journey, he arrived by traveling East instead of Northeast, which put him in Manhattan. From there on, he decided that its best he should just keep heading East more and more, which is where he cross from Manhattan to Long Island. And that's where the camp is, and his own likings for strawberry sundaes is what drew him there. Because he loves them so much, he was attracted to what looked like a strawberry farm, but little did he know, it was Camp Half-Blood. He soon found out shortly after his arrival though.

Role-playing Example: Deniel was walking in the training grounds of the camp, staring right at a dummy. He held his sheathed katana in his left hand. He wore his armor over and under his black T-shirt, his blue jeans, and small cloth scarf he wore over his neck. It wasn't cold though, he simply wore it for style. "Booooy do I loooook good." He said as he looked down at himself and gave a small grin. He shook his head though, noticing he was getting off topic with himself. He stared back at the target, and gave a small shrug. His body suddenly stiffened himself, his shoulders grew still, his legs bent and slightly spread apart, and his back arched forward. The only thing that could be heard was the wind, as a small breeze blew past him and made his hair fly a bit in its place That's when he made his move after his breath had seemingly been erased and he was standing still. He then ran right in front of the target as he drew his black katana from the scabbard. The very second he arrived within range, he already slashed his katana at the dummy horizontally, hacking it right in half. As the pieces fell away from each other, he still wasn't done. Timing his cuts carefully, he cut both the top and the bottom three more times before they fell on the ground in pieces. Once they fell, he turned away from the dummy, spun his katana around so he was holding it at a 180 degree different angle, and sheathed it back in the scabbard. "Hah....still got it!" He lowered his katana and loosened himself up again, walking away from it. He scratched behind his head and looked around. "What was I doing here again?"

You're gonna need to reduce the shadow-travel distance maximum by a lot -- I'd say to somewhere around 100 miles or lower. (The limit might be as low as 10 miles, but I'll need to make sure of that.) How many ghosts can he summon per day? Can they disappear through means other than their time limit expiring or Deniel dismissing them? How many skeletons total can he summon per day?

You'll need a more definite reason as to how Deniel found his way to camp; wandering isn't exactly adequate. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I assume he's 17 now? If so, does that mean he was around 8 or 9 when he started wandering around the country killing people?

How would a seven year old manage to travel around alone so much? It seems a bit too far fetched for my liking, as well as him managing to kill somebody at that age. How did he not get caught?

Hmmm, got a point there. I guess I didn't go into that much detail. Edited once again.

For the last paragraph of your character's life before CHB... do you mean he traveled east instead of west? How many people would you say he killed total? Where would he get food from?

Mhm. Try raising the age he started travelling around the country; I don't feel like a 7 year old would be able to do such things.

Your fourth LBCHB paragraph still says he was 7 when he made his first kill.

Also, does the number of skeletons affect how long they can stay -- like, one skeleton can stay the full twenty minutes but if he summons 3 the time gets reduced by, say, five minutes?

    Edited that again.
As for the skeletons, no. They all last twenty minutes and will all disappear at the same time. It doesn't matter if he has one, two, or ten; each skeleton will last twenty minutes.
However, if he summons one and summons another about five minutes later, that one will still NOT drop at the same time that the first one did. They each go on their own individual summon timers and cool downs.

Mhm. I suggest you reduce the time the skeletons last then.

    Mhm. Sounds fair enough.

Add another physical flaw, and reduce the time the ghosts last.

(And then it'll be time for approval. Yaaay.)

    Alright.

Ghost time cut by one fourth. I just don't think they should last as short as the skeletons, they can't physically harm anyone in any way. Ironically though, they last twice as long as skeletons.

Physical flaw added, also mentioning two parts of his appearance as one.

    Done and done.
