Chomp (Private: Kendall + Milocross)

Dana couldn't tell what was worse -- her loud, painful-sounding coughs, or her decision to wander into the strawberry fields.

She didn't even like strawberries. Or people. Or going outside. It was only by the insistence of one of her 'friends' that she had gone out of the cabin to wander in this cloudy, slightly humid weather, to wallow in her own self-pity over her cold as she traipsed through the rows of strawberry plants. Dana was sure that she'd be found dead in a pile of strawberries by tomorrow -- "Dead from drowning in strawberries," she sarcastically thought to herself. Dana would definitely get into Elysium that way.

She sniffled dejectedly.

Mid-cough, Dana looked around and saw a girl... stuffing her face with strawberries. Well, okay. Good for her.

"Strawberries," she sighed, shaking her head. With a quick kick, she sent one flying several yards away, near the strawberry lover girl; her shoe was splattered with a bit of strawberry juice, but that would be easily fixed walking through a puddle. Dana coughed into the crook of her arm, wondering when she should go back to the cabin -- if she went back now, her 'friend' would push her out again and make her stay out even longer.

Friends. Bah, who needs them.

Dana raised her eyebrows at the shriek -- were strawberries really that scary? She supposed that a Demeter kid controlling the strawberry plant to attack would be fairly bad, but this child of Odyne was no child of that tree-hugger.

"You okay?" she called to the girl. She was in no mood to apologize for the flying strawberry, but it would be nice to have somebody to talk to, rather than mope and cough to death alone.

Dana scratched at her collarbone, nodding like she'd understood -- in fact, she had barely been listening, as was her habit with strangers. She really could care less about most of them, anyway. "Uh, yeah, that's fine, I guess. Maybe the whole ADHD thing, too...? Unless your medication was for that."

She was twisting the heel of her shoe into the ground, making a small hole in the dirt mixed with a bit of strawberry juice. Delicious combination -- probably tasted like her dad's cooking.

"Oh, well." Well, to Dana, the girl didn't really look physically ill in any way -- maybe it was something else then. Like... Chemical imbalances in the brain, or something. Seratonin. GABA. Whatever -- she had never paid any attention to any of the health books she'd been forced to read at home, or any of the health lectures she'd been forced to attend at camp by the Athena brats.

There was a brief, awkward pause as Dana glanced around, hoping for some disturbance to pay attention to -- yet the gods were being cruel today, and nothing noteworthy happened. She cleared her throat: "Awfully hungry today?"

Dana raised an eyebrow, mentally counting the seconds as she watched the girl eat. How long would it take for her to throw up at the rate she was going? Would she stop when she hit her limit, or keep going and risk a stomach ache or worse? Stay tuned to find out -- next time on "CHB Chronicles."

The demigod cleared her throat and sat down, taking care to maintain a distance of at least three feet from the other girl in case the vomit turned into an ugly projectile -- Dana had just done her laundry (for once) two days ago, and she didn't want to do that again. "You still going there, amiga? Shouldn't you slow down?"
