    The armory Empty The armory

Post by Holly 3/5/2014, 6:47 pm

    Spoiler:

Lindia walked along the stone streets of the military camp, her black leather combat boots stomping along the ground with a satisfying thud with each step. The hard, dark boots encased her feet up to her ankles, where it met with the trekking trousers that covered her shapely thighs up to her thin waist, the dark camouflage patterns all over the pants. As she approached the other end of the camp she raised her pale hand over to her head and brushed a dozen strands or so of her dirty blonde hair past her ear and over her shoulder. Streaks of red and charred tips of black made her hairstyle distinct from the others in her cohort, the length of her hair running to the middle of her back; let loose and wild.

She approached the building that was the armory for the legion: she needed to acquire a new shield since her last one had been bashed apart by the mighty elephant in the last war games. Absentmindedly the child of trivia pulled on her black shirt, the sleeves sliding down to her elbows where the fabric changed to a black netting, which continued to her wrists. A leather cuff latched onto her right wrist, held firm on her delicate skin by a metal clasp. A pair of dog tags hung from her neck, bouncing on her chest as she walked. Her Alcatraz key-chain hung off of her black leather and studded belt, though as she passed her hand over the top of it it shimmered and transformed into her golden sword inside of it's sheath, expanding down her thigh.

On the other side of her waist hung her empty quiver. She had arrows, plenty back in her bunk; but she was always looking for special arrows whenever she visited the armory. She pursed her lips together as she opened the heavy door to the armory and walked inside, looking along the shelves of weapons and armor until her electric-blue eyes rested upon the stacks of standard shields. After shutting the door behind her she walked over to them, and picked up one, feeling it's weight upon her arm. She set it down again, and then paused as the door creaked open behind her.

The armory Empty Re: The armory

Post by Alpha Wolf 3/7/2014, 6:58 am

Astrid stalked the military encampment as she went around in search of things to swipe. This was the thing that she often did being who she was and where she came from, moving through the camp taking things as she pleased. It's just how she was. Then someone caught her eye, a girl walking towards the armory, her key-chain looking quite steal-able.

Astrid moved to the roof of a nearby building and kept her view on the girl, following her along. Astrid was in her zone, though wasn't fully equip for the god at hand. At the moment Astrid wore a black leather jacket with a light brown t-shirt. Her jeans were faded blue and if she hid in the shadows her jeans would give her away before too long. This didn't deter her though, it would hurt her confidence to think that she couldn't still preform well in anything she wore.

The girl also had only her knife with her and an empty quiver. The bow and the arrows that called the quiver home were back at her barracks as she needed the space in the quiver to hold whatever miscellaneous things that she might pick up. Regardless of descriptions, she kept on the hunt for the key-chain and then noticed something peculiar as the item of her fancy had transformed into a sword sitting peacefully in it's sheath.

Astrid literally licked her lip in anticipation of this self imposed pick pocketing that she was about to attempt. Being a demigod, of course Astrid has seen her fair shair of magic weapons, but she felt that if she could take this, she could probably put it to good use in her trade. Normally as a custom, she didn't keep swords because of how hard it is to move around with them banging against her leg, hence why she used a knife, granted the knife is also cause her dad trained her to use prior to coming here but whatever. If she could get this sword, it'd probably prove more useful to her than other swords in her eyes.

Astrid's determination was on full blast now, tracking the girl through the crowd of people, she found her go into the armory. "Great...the one place with literally only one entrance..." Astrid said. Of course she knew this wasn't true. The armory had entrance through the smoke escapes as well, but that means having to avoid the fire at the bottom, not such a great plan. She then noticed something else. A group of other demigods going into the armory as well. "Excellent." She muttered as she moved down and into the crowds, going with them into the armory and catching an eye on her target once more.

Once the door open Lindia's hand flew instantly to her side, grasping the handle of her imperial gold weapon, although after examining each and every one in the crowd, she tentatively let go and picked up a shield, keeping it between herself and the crowd of campers. Lindia didn't want to talk, didn't want to even be seen. All she wanted was a shield and to leave the armory. Then a certain camper caught her eye.

She couldn't place the campers name, but she knew the look in her eyes; having been a pickpocket herself as a child, and even now once and a while. A sly grin crossed Lindia's face as she looked upon herself, checking to make sure if she had everything, and to see if she had time to fool the girl. Tricks: smoke and mirrors were a natural thing for any magical act, and with all the metal being reflective like mirrors...The child of trivia couldn't wait to haw fun.

Concentrating on the magical veil known as the mist, Lindia began an illusion on herself, making it appear to both the pickpocket girl, and the other campers in the armory that she was still looking at the shields, when secretly on the inside of the false images, she had changed her sword back into a keychain and slid it on the inside of her leather cuff, the key-shaped charm secure in such an impossible position to steal. She then grabbed an identical golden sword, attaching that to her belt as if nothing happened, before causing the image to dissipate.

She panted, feeling exhaustion creep into her body, though she shook it off as she stood tall and grabbed a shield she liked. It was the standard rectangular shield of the soldiers of Rome, with the eagle emblazoned on the front.

Astrid was no fool, walking into the armory. She knew she was exposed and she knew that the girl would have her made in no time. For the moment she tried to play innocent, though she could sense something was wrong with her target. She couldn't see through the trick of the mist, but she could see through the trick afterwards that the target tried to play.

'It's convincing..but not perfect..the sword doesn't hang the same as when her key-chain changes form to the sword..' she thought as she tried to picture just where the girl would've hidden the original. Then she took notice of the bracelets. 'That's clever..very hard to reach..' she thought as she tried to assess the situation and figure out how to take it from her. Astrid knew she had her knife, but trying to attack in an occupied area, not the best idea for her to do, too many eyes would be drawn and then she'd have more than she wants to deal with on her.

"This will be difficult.." she muttered as she moved to the girl. Astrid walked very convincingly like a girl that didn't have a purpose except to just be taking a stroll around camp. Though with each step she moved closer to the girl, ever so slightly inching in until she was within reaching distance and went very calmly to take the key-chain from the hiding place.

He daughter of trivia was no fool, she could see that the girl had been walking in an angle closer to her. She shifted her shield to cover the cuff that hid the keychain, just a little added protection. She made it look naturally, then turned to look her dead in the eyes as she made her move. "What do you think your doing?" The Detroit native asked, her accent a little Canadian, but mostly of the Detroit area. Lindia moved quickly and unsheathed the random sword she had put on her belt and pressed the side of it close to the girl.

"I'm not a fool, I know what your trying to do and you can't have it" She smirked "though maybe in a fight I could place a few hundred on it" Lindia drawled out before turning on her heel sharply, swinging around the other girl and shoving the shield towards her, hopefully to knock her over.

Astrid was made the moment the shield was shifted to further block the key-chain's hiding place. She moved her free hand close to the dagger she had in case she needed it and then when the girl turned and gave her a dead-eyed stare, Astrid took a step back. "Clearly you know what I'm trying to do, the disguise wasn't convincing enough to fool me." She said to the girl.

Astrid took a jump away from the girl as she stated how she wasn't a fool and all that what-not before trying to shove Astrid to the ground with her shield. "Open brawl isn't fun you know.." She stated as she unsheathed her knife in response to the girl's statement about a fight. Even as she said this, Astrid knew that that was where this was heading fast and she wasn't sure whether she should buy into it or bail out. One thing she did know was that she was going to need to decide fast or have the choice made for her.

"It wasn't meant to fool, only to distract" Lindia retorted now that the shove bad forced her a few feet away. Lindia knew a fight inside of the armory would t be good, so she began to back towards the door. She left the shield between them, still firm on her arm. She slid the sword back into the sheath and left the extra sword on her hip before stepping out of the armory and onto the street.

Now she was ready to fight, and she would if the girl followed.

Astrid smirked at her retort. "In this line of work fools are the ones that get distracted." She stated. She watched as the girl started to back out of the armory and Astrid knew what she wanted out of this action. Astrid relaxed and walked out of the armory with her as if she were just calmly walking down the road on a summer day. There was complete purpose in this. It was meant to make this girl look like a paranoid person, like she was attacking a person that had done nothing wrong. She had a feeling this ploy wouldn't work for long, but it would serve it's purpose in order for Astrid to make a get away. She had no plans of open conflict, fighting was something that thieves need know how to do, but if it's avoidable then better avoid it. "It's interesting that you react like this. What's so special bout that key-chain anyway? I mean besides the obvious." She questioned her.

Lindia smirked and stood her ground once she was outside. "Wouldn't you like to know?" She asked sarcastically as she faced the girl, attempting to foresee what her course of action was. The child of trivia had a good idea though of what it would be, seeing she had often been in the same position as the opposite girl: several years ago. She reached her empty hand inside of her pocket and pulled out a blue-cig, putting it into her mouth and watching the girl. Lindia was a reformed smoker, but she still had those cravings once and a while and she had found that these worked well for her. The Detroit native didn't say anything, just watched as her blue eyes stuck to any movement the other child of Rome made.

Astrid knew that she wasn't in the mood for combat, especially when she was ill equip for a fight. "I would actually, though I don't you're gonna offer the information out." She stated. She contemplated her actions as the girl pulled out one of those new fake cigarettes that people like to carry around. "Clearly you've done this type of dance before given how quickly you had me made and how..annoying you were in the armory." She told the girl attempting to get away from a fight.

Lindia sheathed her sword and looked her over, trying to decide if perhaps this girl would be someone that could be allied with her. She rotated the key charm until it rested into her palm and looked down at it as she walked towards the girl. Golden strands of her hair fell over her blue eyes as she looked at her. She had issues on this, on giving names or even gradually letting her trust on someone. Silently she weighs a possible alliance with a vengeful backlash. After a moment though, the child of trivia decided to stand down and maybe break the ice.

"Maybe I'll let you" She spoke, her Detroit accent ringing clear. Slowly she showed her the charm, an Alcatraz key for the cell blocks. "On a condition or two of course. Maybe I was a little annoying in there, though that doesn't mean we can't restart"

Astrid heard the sudden change of pace in the girls tone and mannerism and this left her a little bit on edge. 'What game is she playing now?' she thought questioningly as she only barely lowered her guard. "What conditions did you have in mind?" She asked the girl calmly, trying to relax even though her body said to get out of their now. She fought her feelings of flight before fight, wanting to here this girl's offer.

"First thing: I need insurance that you would return the weapon afterwards, and somewhere not exactly like here would be better." Lindia spoke and looked at her "I'll listen to any rules you might have over this....greenest" she smirked and pulled out her iPod touch, unlocking it and sliding through her playlist full of rock music

Astrid raised her eyebrow at this first condition. "You don't seem to understand thievery when it's on personal things. And considering the display that you just made before me that seems contradictory to my statement. I don't take with the intention of giving back.." She stated to the girl as she pulled out her iPod, Astrid thought about playing a sleight of hand to make a final attempt at making away with the key-chain.

Lindia yawned "whatever" she told the girl Ashe selected a song and let is cascade through her headphones into her mind. The child of trivia was clever though and when she slipped her hands around her back to place her iPod into her pocket; she switched her magical keychain with an identical, non magical one. She made sure that Astrid couldn't see this exchange as she turned to face her again, curious as to what this girl would do now. Lindia didn't care though, she had an ace or two left as she showed her the keychain in her palm for a moment before curling her fingers up around it,

Astrid rolled her eyes at the girl, growing rather tired of this. The key-chain wasn't worth this trouble and she was ready to head back and get some food. "Sigh...I've grown bored..keep the thing, it's not worth the trouble you've posed." She said and then left the girl, not making an attempt to take the weapon. Quickly Astrid ran off to the mess hall.
