    Sofia's Bunk Empty Sofia's Bunk

Post by Sammy 6/24/2014, 11:22 pm

This bunk is covered with dirty clothes, filled with paint stains. The bed sheets are strewn with markers and colored pencils, and a small easel lay under the bunk.

Sofia's Bunk Empty Re: Sofia's Bunk

Sofia leaned against her bed post, staring up at the ceiling. In her hands, she held many pieces of white fabric, feathers, and sewing materials. Now, there was only one thing she needed. To decide to actually make the dress.

It was a harder decision than anyone would think, for if she made the dress, she would have to wear it, and if she wore it, she'd have to wear it to prom. In public. With thousands of people staring at her. She'd have to wear pounds of makeup. She'd look as beautiful as all of her sisters, of course. But that was the thing. Sofia wasn't used to beautiful.

She didn't want everyone staring at her the way they looked at her sisters. She wanted to be alone, in her bunk, with an easel and paper. She didn't want attention. She wasn't meant to be beautiful. She wasn't meant to be a good fighter. She wasn't meant to be a leader. She wasn't even meant to be a loner.

She wasn't meant to be anything.

Sofia threw the feathers down so they formed a circle around her, floating unlike the ungraceful beast that she was. She knelt down in her bed, clutching the pillow in her fists until her knuckles turned white.

"Dammit!" She screamed to no one. "Gods dammit!" the last of the phrase was swallowed up by her sobs. How pathetic.

She sat there for what felt like a good half hour, cursing and subbing into her pillow, until the thought of the boy she had met in the courtyard came up.

    Prince? What an interesting name...

Her sobs died down into hiccups which died down into heavy breathing. He would be there. She could feel it. She knew it inside her heart.

    Woah, woah, woah. What?

It was just a thought followed by a completely unrelated feeling. Besides, Sofia had no interest in guys, because they had no interest in her.

But it would be nice to catch up with him...

Sofia rolled out of the bed and picked up the feathers. She sat down on the floor and began sewing.

    * * *

Three hours later, the sun was setting, and Sofia stood in front of the mirror. She had applied eye makeup in a silver smokey eye fashion, as well as metallic pink lipstick. Her swan-inspired dress wrapped around her legs and ended in a short trail. The sleeves and bodice of the dress were attached by a thin layer of feathers that, when fanned out, resembled wings. The top of the dress was a white and black corset, with flowing, translucent full length sleeves. Her hair was tied back in a tight bun, accented with a white feather flower. She had tucked a pencil into her bun, simply because it made her feel a bit more comfortable.

She was beautiful. She was graceful. She was everything she'd ever wanted to be.

Sofia took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and Stepped outside of the cabin into the warm summer night air.
