Okay, the startled expression on Rephaim's face made Emma a tad bit nervous. Her request was more like a demand, especially since Belle looked like she was about to ask him. But in the end, he had chosen to dance with her, pulling Emma's hand to the dance floor. Thank the gods!

"So what made you want to dance with me?" Emma could hear the playful tone in Rephaim's voice, causing her to laugh slightly and playfully nudge him as she started to sway her hips slightly to the music. She wasn't a dancer but she wasn't a bad dancer either.

"It's my favorite song and I wasn't going to dance alone." It wasn't a total white lie, right?

Rephaim mirrored her motion, but with his shoulders/upper body instead. He laughed along with her, then rolled his eyes at her words. I mean, but kind of made sense, but at the same time she did cut in on his conversation with the girl. Strange thing is - he didn't mind. Not just because he was bored with Belle, but because he was dancing with Emma again.
"Okay, I see what your saying." He summed up his thoughts and agreed with her reasoning this way. The boy watched her dance, a smile remaining on his face, while he copied nearly every step in a masculine way.
"You're not that bad at dancing."

Woah, Emma had never seen a guy dance this good. Rephaim was doing a move that was similar to hers, except with his shoulders. He had rolled his eyes at her words, though he had laughed earlier. Okay, she may have interrupted his conversation with the princess (who was staring, more like glaring, at the two at the moment) but her words were true.

"You're not that bad at dancing." She chuckled at his words. Was he just trying to flatter her? Doing a little spin move, Emma became closer to the boy, a smirk dancing on her lips. She was so close, she had to put her hands on his chest to push them apart.

"If I'm so good, then you better catch up." she whispered into his ear before leaning back and continued to dance, her hips moving to the beat more as she continued to spin.

Rephaim felt bad, truth be told, that Belle was glaring at the two. At the same time, he was having a way better time over here. Maybe he'd talk to her a little more after he and Emma finished dancing. For now, he would concentrate on his dance partner and how she was dancing so that he could incorporate it into his. When she spun, they ended up very close and Rephaim's eyes fell from hers to the smirk on her lips. She had whispered to him, telling him to catch up.
"I'm following, don't worry." He reassured, laughing. After one of her spins, he placed his hands on her hips as a way to keep them close, but still able to maneuver. He wasn't as good at this more relaxed form of dancing as he was at formal styles, but that didn't mean he sucked. He was still a good dancer nonetheless, and now he had a good partner.

"I'm following, don't worry." And with that, Rephaim placed his hands on her waist, bringing them closer again. This was the 2nd time he did that tonight but Emma didn't mind, she actually liked it. If it was someone else, she would've kicked them or landed a lunch right on their nose but she enjoyed this. Her arms wrapped around his neck again, her hips still swaying to the music.

"That's good. Couldn't have ya falling behind, now could I?" She teased again, the smirk on her face never faltering. This night is actually going good.

"Your a good dancer." She murmured.

Rephaim continued to dance with her even as the song changed to one of the same pace and style. Rephaim recognized it as some type of quicker remix of Bravado by Lorde. He didn't care much about the specific song; as long as he could do this same dance to it, he had an excuse to dance with Emma even longer. Her arms found their way back to his neck as they had before and his grin remained steady. She'd muttered that he was a good dancer, and he leaned in close to her ear so that he could mimic her previous action.
"It's because I have a good partner." He whispered, then leaned back to his original place.

OOC: I get this is private so ignore my post if you want to, this is just a RP post to say the prom is almost over (topics will be closed soon). If you want me to delete this post, please say so :)

BIC: Prom slowly reaching its end, Sawyer had gone 'backstage' to get the paper lanterns; now she was carrying them around in a huge basket and giving them out to the Campers. The prom committee (aka cabin leaders) had planned to do it like in Tangled: light them, and let them float up into the sky. Probably with the 'And at last I see the light' song playing in the background, for the good ole Disney feel.
She saw two dancing demigods, Rephaim and Emma, and shuffled over, handing them one lantern each.

"Here ya go. You just light 'em and let them float up into the sky, like in Tangled," she explained. Okay, it might be a bit rude to just bump in while they were apparently very .... close in that dance, but prom was almost over. Then they'd do the fireworks and that'd be the end for tonight. Though the Aphrodite's and Dionysus's would probably throw an after, like they usually did.

    OOC: nah, it's okay
BIC:"It's because I have a good partner." Rephaim's breath tickled her ear as he whispered into her ear, like she had done before, before leaning back. Emma smirked back at him. Just when she was going to open her mouth, a paper lateen that was identical to the one from Tangled was shoved into her face by a Hephaestus girl, causing her to remove her hands to catch it.

"Here ya go. You just light 'em and let them float up into the sky, like in Tangled." The girl, she thinks her name is Sawyer, explained. All Emma did was grunt a small "thanks" before her gaze shifted to the lateen in her hand. It was actually pretty cool.

Emma was about ready to say something when another voice cut her off. Rephaim, startled by the intrusion of their moment, jumped and turned like a deer in headlights. Oh, it was just that Sawyer girl from the Hephaestus cabin. He was pretty sure he had her in his Arts & Crafts class. Anyway, she was talking about prom being almost over and all and something about Tangled when she handed him a paper lantern, causing him to remove his hands from Emma's hips to examine the lantern curiously. Well, it looked nice enough.
"Thank you." He said automatically, like it was programmed in his brain. Rephaim shot an amused glance at Emma as Sawyer went off to probably pass out more lanterns or set something on fire. Hephaestus kids sometimes do that, right?
"So..." Rephaim began, shrugging a shoulder at his lantern. "...Got a lighter?"

Sawyer had left, disappearing into the crowd of kids after she had passed a paper lantern to Rephaim. The boy had shot an amused expression towards the brunette, causing her to roll her eyes with a noticeable smile. They were just caught out've their moment but did Emma mind? Well, maybe a little bit.

"...Got a lighter?" Emma managed to hear the end of Rehpaim's question. As a matter of fact, she did (don't ask). Extending a finger, signaling to wait, she dashed to the snack table. Where had she- Aha! Right behind the punch bowl, where she had left it. Dashing back to Rephaim with her lighter in hand, the Australian chucked the lighter the lighter at him.

    "Catch!"

Rephaim was quite surprised when Emma rushed off to retrieve her lighter: not because of the fact that she had one but because it was located behind the punch bowl. He'd turned away for a moment to look at the configuration of the lantern; how did this thing work? What kind of witchery was -?
"Catch!" Rephaim's head snapped up in time to see the lighter and lantern sailing towards him. He caught it with ease, the gestured to Emma that they move to a more open area.
"I have no idea how to do this." He told her as he searched the lantern once again for the wick.

Emma took her lantern back as she walked over to the more open side of the dance floor. If she lighted it in the middle of things, who knows what will happen. Someone's hair will probably catch on fire or something.

"Here, lemme do yours." She offered, taking the lighter and Rephaim's lantern before he could say anything. She started to examine the inside of the lantern, it was kind've hard. There should be a wick somewhere in he- oh, there it is. Right in the middle. It took a couple of try's but she managed to light up the lantern, doing the same with hers.

"Here ya go." Emma handed one of the lanterns back to Rephaim before staring down at her own. She had to admit, they did a really good job making these.

"But I wanted to - okay." Rephaim chuckled, unable to finish his sentence before Emma had his lantern in her hands. He watched her examine the lantern with a look that was somewhere between dreamlike and admiration...which was really nothing at all like him. His face on a normal basis would've been blank if he were just watching some girl he just met struggle to find the stupid wick on a lantern made of wax paper and sweat, but he found it adorable when Emma did it. This was really weird and discomforting. It caused Rephaim's skin to crawl a little bit at the sudden realization. He had feelings. Like, feelings in general. He didn't have much time to ponder over this, though, because Emma had already handed him back his lantern and had began to work on hers.
"Thanks." Geesh, how many times had he said that tonight? He held on to his lantern tightly so that it didn't float away and waited for Emma to finish hers. When she was done, he spoke up again.
    "Are you ready?"

Before Emma looked back to make sure her lantern didn't fly away (that would stink), she had snuck a glance at Rephaim. The light glowing from the lantern illuminated his face and Emma couldn't seem to look away. But she did, once she realized what she was doing. Gods, what is she doing? What is this feeling that she's feeling?

"Are you ready?" Rephaim's olive snapped her from her thoughts. Hmm...where should they do it? It wouldn't be as cool if they do it in here so perhaps outside?

"Outside, C'mon!" She pulled on his hand as she dragged him outside, the cool air sipping her hair back. There wasn't many people here, so that was a bonus.

"Are ya ready?" She asked with a gleeful expression, turning back to Rephaim.

Emma had glanced at him, and Rephaim was forced to looked away so that she didn't catch him staring. She probably checking on the status of his lantern or something. Gods, what would Rephaim look like if she had caught him already looking. At least before he had an excuse. He looked down at his black-and-white shoes until she adverted her gaze. Then he felt as if he could breathe again. "Outside. C'mon!" was all she said before pulling him outside. A breeze blew in, making his (temporarily) dyed white hair fall from the left to the right instead. Dang it.
He examined their surroundings and immediately saw why she wanted to release the lanterns out here. There was less congestion, so the lanterns would be more free as they sailed away. That, and the other people in the mess hall weren't as cool. When Emma had asked if he was ready in turn, she looked back at him and his breath caught. Her silvery eyes combined with the light exuding from the lantern caused Rephaim to feel nothing less than enchanted. It took him a moment to reply.
"Um, yeah. Ready when you are." He half-smiled at her. He held out his lantern to the sky, not yet letting go, and prompted for her to begin the countdown.

"Alright, in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!" Emma counted off, releasing her lantern on the last number with Rephaim. There was absolutely no stars in the sky, making it pitch black. The lanterns were the only thing illuminating the dark, glowing like two fireflies. They soared up until Emma's pale eyes couldn't see it anymore.

"Wow, that was pretty cool." She breathed, turning her head back to Rephaim.
Huh? Her hand was warm. Looking down, Emma noticed how her hand had made its way to Rephaim's, their hands interlocking. Oh god, did he notice as well? She adverted her eyes, trying to force down a faint blush but she kept her hand where it was.

Rephaim began to grow more and more excited as Emma counted down, holding his lantern looser and looser. He let go once she hit one and watched as their two lanterns rise and float away to as high as they dared. They danced higher, entwining back and forth, before disappearing into the black sky full of man-made stars.
He remained silent through it all, completely overwhelmed in the beauty of the lanterns combined with the DJ's humor of playing "At Last I See the Light" from Tangled. (Look, the only reason he knew that song was because of his 12-year-old little sister, okay? Let's clear that up.) Sometime during watching the magic his hand found Emma's and his finger interlocked with hers. Emma had commented that lanterns were pretty cool, so Rephaim nodded his head in agreement.
"They were beautiful." He said softly as he watched as Emma discovered that their hands were together. He ha noticed before she did, and was ready to let go if she wanted. But she didn't let go. Her hand stayed locked with his. The son of Thanatos smiled and stepped closer to her, letting go of her hand to pull her gently into his side as he watched the last of the lanterns disappear into the night sky.
"I want to see you again." Rephaim stated, his voice only a whisper because the majority of it was somewhere up with his lantern.

Uh-oh, looks like she was caught. But Rephaim didn't pull away, he only pulled her closer to him with his arm over her shoulders. If it was someone else, Emma would probably smack them but she just let it slide, forcing a goofy smile down.

"I want to see you again." His breath tickled her ear, causing her to squirm. Well, she wanted the same thing but should she agree? Maybe she should play hard to get.

"Your going to have to find me cause I'm always zooming around." She teased, whispering back.

Rephaim smiled in response to her words, knowing that she was playing hard to get. Of course she was. But the boy sighed and watched as a few people began to head back to their early cabins, others lingering to talk or kiss their date, some trying to get the DJ to play at least one more song. Rephaim and Emma were here, still watching the lanterns that have long since vanished into the sky. The silence was comfortable, yet uncomfortable at the same time. He wanted to say something, but he didn't know what to say. So he remained quiet.

Rephaim did smile but he stayed quiet, making Emma a little nervous. The silence between them eurked her a little. Could he maybe talk? Or maybe he mistook her "playing-hard-to-get"? But she couldn't take the silence, instead she turned her attention back to him, a small smile gracing her face. She grabbed both of his hands kind've roughly as she faced him completely.

"If you really wanna see me after this, your gonna have to prove it. Tell me where and when and I'll be there." She teased even more, her smile growing into a smirk.

Rephaim's attention was drawn back to Emma when she took both of his hands roughly in hers. The next thing he knew, they were face-to-face. He listened to each word as it left her lips, and slowly his smile began to grow wider.
"You're going to have to promise." Rephaim said slyly with a small shrug of his left shoulder. He let go of one of her hands, the other still gripping hers firmly, and cupped it to the side of her face. He couldn't help it, to be honest. His brown eyes met hers as he continued on.
"Meet me in the courtyard tomorrow at noon." He had a lesson then, but he could easily drop that. Whoa. That was unlike him. Rephaim only laughed shortly. "Be there and you'll get to see me without the face paint."

"You're going to have to promise." Rephaim said with a smile that Jeff the Killer couldn't beat. Emma smirked even wider, if it's a promise he wants, a promise he'll get. She wasn't even going to cross her fingers behind her back, even though one of her hands were released so Rephaim could cup her cheek with his. Emma was forcing down a blush when he spoke.

"Meet me in the courtyard tomorrow at noon." He stopped a little before continuing. "Be there and you'll get to see me without the face paint."
Emma laughed at this. Oh, she was so there!

With her next three words of promise, Rephaim was tempted to kiss her. He wanted to kiss her. He really wanted to kiss her. Instead he let his hand drop from her cheek and hand as he took a half-step away. His eyes never lingered from hers, much as how he did earlier this evening. He made sure he captured the angles and contours of her face, imprinting them into his mind so that the image wouldn't be forgotten as the night drew out to dawn. And even then, Rephaim wasn't sure if he'd be able to forget.
"Until tomorrow, Emma. Rest well, and I wish you sweet dreams." What? He was French and he loved acting. He had to end this night with some dramatic humor, after all.
There was no sense in leaving this night as if it were written by some dead author with a cruel sense of humor. So the boy first bowed his head slightly towards her acquired date, then walked away from the prom through the dew-slicked grass whistling the Nightmare Before Christmas theme. He headed towards the only place that felt a little like home: the funeral pyre. Only there would his dreams be peaceful.
