The Second Cohort

Laure jogged into her barrack, just coming back from a run around the lake with two of her friends. Sliding her hairtie down her ponytail, she tossed her hair back, grabbed clean clothes, her shower bag, and disappeared into the bathroom.

About five minutes later she came back out, dressed in a white top and a fresh blue skirt. After putting on some K-pop music from her laptop, she turned to the mirror and started brushing her shiny blonde curls back into their usual wavy texture.

OOC: Now that I see it, would you mind adding "Nathan Scott (Angerona)" to the list up there please?

BIC: On the other side of the barracks, Nathan - a probato or probatio or potato or whatever they call the skrubs here - was lying down on his bunk, reading up on the history of Camp Jupiter. Or at least he was before the Asian pop music began playing. And that annoyed him - a lot.

For Nathan, this was only a footnote compared to the larger story of his "fish-out-of-water" existance. While his father was one to impose strict rules and instil a code of ethics - something you get from being a L.E.O. in a place like Texas - onto Nate, the whole Neo-Romanic Legion thing was just too...unsettling? He couldn't put a finger on how he felt about it, but he wasn't exactly liking it.

And then there was the whole California thing, or at least the stereotypical Californian mentality of "OMG I am the axis of the Earth and I don't care what you think LOL ROFL ;D"  that he (very wrongly) assumed everyone had here. And he hated it. Which is why he was in the barracks in the first place - isolation from the assumed vanity.

And then the K-pop kicked in, bringing him back to all of the things he was sick of. "Miss? Would you please turn that down so I can read in peace here? We're not all fans of Kim-Ill Tone-Deaf in here."

Laure turned around to look at the boy, the hand holding her hairbrush propped up on her hip. Brown hair, freckles, he was cute in this nerdy kind of way. A probatio tablet hung around his neck.

"Well, you could always go read somewhere else," she told him, biting her lip. "I hear the lake's quite nice."

"Uh-hu..." Of course she wanted him to go. Classic Californian mentality - but it wouldn't hurt to go outside. If he's gonna be stuck here for awhile, might as well get familiar with the surroundings. "So where's the lake at?" He pointed to the probatio tablet. "I'm not really familiar with the grounds here."

"Aww sweetheart. You're really new here aren't you?"

Giggling, she spread a thin film of glittering gloss across her lips, smiling at herself in the mirror.

"Yes, I am." replied Nate, his serious tone mixing with the subtle draw of his accent to enhance the "I'm already tired of your s#%+" look on his face.
