Emily or Emma as she preferred to be called found it weird to be without the company of her fellow Hunters or the various animals that accompanied her new family. Being one of their more recent recruits, much of her time had been taken up by learning the ropes, all of the skills necessary to be a Hunter. Much of which, Emma lacked.
She got on well with the other Hunters, they where all friendly, kind and like a family to her. A tightly knit sisterhood of immortal warriors some of who possessed experience gained through centuries of life. Emma did not possess any such experience, however she was keen to learn, especially as she no longer required her crutches, she could run, climb and fight just like the others. No more forcing anyone to keep pace with her nor sitting on the side lines and watching.
Regardless it felt good for a change to be without their constant companionship, a quiet meal without the other Hunters inquiring as to what she knew, questioning her or generally finding out what her life had been like before she became a Hunter would suit Emma grandly. Yet, eating without them felt a little wrong and also left her open to talking to the denizens of Camp Half-blood, some who may want to know what drove her to become a Hunter, others wishing to join themselves and as usual a few boys who seemed to think that they could try and steal a Hunter away from Artemis.
Okay the latter part was one of the reasons why she was glad that usually the other Hunters where around, the older Hunters in particular were greatly skilled in driving off the foolhardy boys.
Emma found herself an empty table, she sat down and the food she desired appeared before her. Nothing to fancy really, boiled rice with peas and diced carrots. Despite becoming a Hunter, Emma found herself of late becoming much more vegetarian in her diet, few meats. She ate quietly, lost in the calm solitude of private thought, wandering the hallways of her own mind and replaying the events of the past few days over in her mind.
So much had changed for her, Emma still could not believe that finally she actually had a future before her. One worth living.
