Red slept soundly in his bed

Mercury flew in, the little wings either side of his fluffy Santa hat coming to a halt. He loved his Santa hat; seriously, he'd sleep with it.
George and Martha weren't that happy about their reindeer antlers and red noses though. Oh, well.
Mercury looked at the sleeping Romans in the barrack, recognizing Red wasn't difficult. Six inches four, his feet sticking out from the bed, he looked like a bodybuilder.
Ah, now that's a Roman.
Mercury stuck his caduceus between his teeth, opened his postman satchel and drew a small package, all wrapped in glossy red present paper and yellow ribbons by the Mercury Mail gift-wrapping service, please and thank you. He put the gift into one of Red's combat boots -- no Christmas stockings? Where did all the traditions go? -- left the receipt note and explanatory guide next to it before flying back out to the next barrack.

Red woke up to find an present in his boots. He in wrpapped it to find a manual, an amulet, and a receipt? He read the manual and put the amulet on. Then he could sense all of the heat in this room. He smiled aandleft.
