And stand there like an idiot pretending like she's waiting for someone.
Oh, gods forbid if someone just talked to her right now. She's so out of her element, she'd shriek and awkwardly excuse herself to go hide somewhere.
Her new-found confidence is slipping away from her, and not all that slowly. She's been on and off pacing for at least 10 minutes, trying to convince herself to stay. She has no idea why, but she can't stand the idea of leaving. Then again, staying isn't such a great option, either. Her navy blue and gold chiffon dress circles around her as she pushes her loose hair out of her face, not used to having it down.
She shouldn't be here. This isn't a place meant for her. This is for bubbly, happy kids who enjoy parties and shopping and being with others. Not her.
Ari places her cup back down on the table, taking a seat and tapping her fingers repeatedly against her knee. Fifteen more minutes. Yes, that should work. She will stay for fifteen minutes, then dart out of this place as quickly as she can.
She closes her eyes, letting her hair drift in front of her to cover her face as she begins counting down the seconds.
