by Lysander was on the beach, sitting in his chair, drinking some juice he brought with him. He had been surfing, so he was still shirtless in his trunks, with blue sandals on. He watched as the waves crashed to the beach, each one, the water's soothing sound. It was around 4:00- he planned on leaving to go to the Mess Hall by now, but he couldn't leave. One, he wasn't really hungry, and two, he had the urge to stay and surf some more. He got up, grabbing his board, and headed to the water again.

Arian arrived at the beach with a couple of friends, her surf board under her arm. She was dressed in a designer bikini with a square top, her hair falling in glossy chocolate-colored streaks over her shoulder. Her skin was tan, gleaming in the sunlight, and she had comfortable sandals on.
She was listening to one of her friends when she caught sight of a young guy with longish brown hair heading to the water with his board. Since she was the only one of her friends out surfing, she left her bag and towel with them and walked barefeeted towards the guy.
"Hey, what's up?" she beamed then realized it was Lysander. Her smile grew a bit. Lysander was one of those guys she found really hot at Camp Half-Blood, one of those she wouldn't mind kissing.

"Hey-" he turned around, seeing the person talking to him. It was Arian Firenze. Well, to be honest, out of the couple years Lysander had known Arian, he had developed a crush on her. Although, Lys never asked her out, or even remotely acted romantic in any way towards her. He got out of the water for a minute, shaking some water off. "Hey, Arian. How're you?" he simply asked.

"Great, thank ya," she said then nodded at his board. "Out for some surfing, too?"
She stepped into the refreshing water, salt and light foam tingling her skin. Once she was in to her thighs, she put her board on the surface of the water and laid down on it with her stomach, paddling forward to catch a wave.

"Yeah. I have been for a while." He got back on his board, paddling into the water, looking around for a wave. He also kept an eye on Arian, too, however. When one finally came around, he paddled towards it, and eventually, rid it, across that part of the sea. He got dumped underwater when he was back near the surface, which wasn't a problem- he could breathe underwater. He swam back to the surface, flipping his long hair back. He grinned and laughed, looking around once again for Arian.

Arian had ridden a wave too, the water progressively curling around her, but had jumped into the water at the end of it, white bubbles of air surrounding her body and climbing upwards. She broke the surface and grabbed her board, her brown hair soaked wet but her blue eyes sparkling with laughter.
"Wow, nice one," she chuckled, climbing back on her white and blue surf board. She caught another one, bending her knees and brushing the top of the wave with the very tip of her fingers, laughing as droplets sprinkled her skin. Her board left behind a streak of white foam, the wave once again curving down over her, its sound filling her ears.
And then it crashed on her, sending her head first into the water. Arian swam around and came back up, pulling her hair from her forehead. Nothing like the sun and fresh ocean water to make her feel alive.

Lysander, a bit tired out, watched Arian in joy. He got worried for a second there when she was underwater, but then she came back up. He laughed, enjoying these moments of fun, especially when his friends or water was involved. Better yet, both.
"You're a really good surfer, actually," he admitted to her, a smile on his face. "You are really pretty, Arian, you know that?" he said gently, trying to put on that romantic...pizazz. He looked up at the sky getting a bit darker, around that sunset time. "What do you say to a ice cream? It's on me," he said, pointing to the ice cream stand, over further on the beach. He had money over on his chair- he really hoped it hadn't blown away or been stolen- he tried to make it firm in his seat.

"Thanks! I learned in Italy."
Between Civitavecchia and Sardinia, she had had quite the surf times in her home country. Summer was quite simply her very own season which was why Camp Half-Blood with its eternal estival climate and Greek buildings was paradise for her.
Then she told her she was pretty and invited her for an ice cream. Well then, sounded like she would start dating a hot guy quite soon....
"Ice cream? Oh, definitely." A couple of Demeter kids had put up the ice cream stands and let me tell you, they're as good as pure Italian ice creams, which is definitely saying something.

"Italy? Nicely done," he grinned. He then heard her accept his invite to an ice cream to top off the evening. Hiis smiled widened. He took his board over and got his money, luckily still there. He went over to the stands, the Demeter kids attention now on him. He briefly waved before pulling out a five dollar bill and ten drachmas. "Which do you guys accept?" When they said either was fine, he handed them the ten drachmas, keeping the money for a later date.
"A chocolate for me, and uhm, Arian, what would you like?" Lys asked her, glaring at her.

Arian glanced at the different flavors and aromas. "I'll take mango please," she smiled at the Demeter kids. "Lysander, you sure you don't want me to pay?"
She loved sharing and though she really appreciated such offers, she generally liked to pay for herself. Not that it bothered her right now though.

"No, no, it's fine." He smiled at her.
The kids came back with two icecreams, giving them both their specific icecream. Lys took a lick, looking at Arian and the sunset. He took his towel and set it down for them. He sat on it.

"Oh yes, the dance. Anything you wish to know or any suggestion you wanna give?" she smiled, licking her ice cream. "I'm on the committee by the way.
There was always a dance committee for every dance, with guys responsible for the deco, others for the music, or the food, or the lights or anything really that was in relation to the organization. Arian was in the group responsible for decoration, though dropped a couple ideas off at the music people from time to time.

"Suggestions, not really. More like a question- will you go with me to it?"
Lysander figured it'd be pretty fun and romantic, and he wanted to take her. He just really liked Arian- the Apollo girl made him feel extremely nervous, in a good way. He thought she was absolutely stunning, and he kind of hoped she liked him back. He ate some of his icecream.

"Great," Lysander smiled. As he finished off his icecream, he looked at her directly in the eyes, getting a bit closer to her. "So, Arian, on a related note, how does a late night movie sound- around midnight-ish, tonight. I feel like a scary movie- what do you think?" He said, attempting to take both of her hands.

"Oh, I'd love to but... I kinda have something planned already," she replied, biting her lip.

"Oh," he said. He was kind of upset about it, but he figured it was okay, she just had other plans. "That's cool," he nodded at her, smiling. He realized he was still shirtless, and they were close, and he started blushing and took a few steps back, and taking his hands away from hers. "Err, sorry," Lys said, putting his shirt back on.
"Anyway, it was cool hanging out with you, Arian. I'd like to see you again before the dance." He went over to her and leaned in to kiss her, but he panicked again and instead kissed her cheek. "Bye, I guess."

Awww wasn't he an awkward patootie. Awkward hot boys really had a thing; most hot boys she knew acted in this really popular confident way and Lysander was actually really refreshing in that way.
