Life Before Camp:
Shiloh's father, Tyler was an successful author. He also, occasionally, spoke publicly about how important education was. At first, he mostly wrote about what he knew, like how to thrive in a small town, how much stress a person goes through, and people liked it. But, one day, before Shiloh was born, Tyler decided to write a poem entitled The Sailor's Heart, which would turn out to be the most famous thing he had ever written. The Sailor's Heart was what attracted Aphrodite's attention. It was beautiful and sad and played with people's emotions. So, disguised as chocolate store owner named Natalia, Aphrodite stole Tyler's heart.
As Tyler would describe it to his son many years after, everything was clearer. He suddenly wrote all kinds of things, books, pamphlets, and scripts, and all types of Genres. His stories weren't self-help books anymore, they were daring, exciting, and made people think. And, Tyler would say, it was all because of his beautiful muse, Natalia.
Tyler had thought they'd be together forever. But, one day, He opened his door to find little baby Shiloh in a bundle and a note from Natalia. Though it could barely be called a note, it only talked about how he would need to go to New York (they didn't move).Tyler was heartbroken. He didn't get an "I love you." He got a baby, and Natalia was nowhere to be found. At first, Tyler didn't want Shiloh. Why would he? Shiloh was the product of Natalia, and anything, Tyler had decided, from Natalia. But, with the gentle, yet firm persuading of Tyler's mother, Shiloh's Grandma Elise, Tyler decided to keep Shiloh. After all, Natalia had deserted both of them. As he rocked young Shiloh to sleep, he would whisper, "She left us. But we'll show her we're going to do just fine without her."
At first, it didn’t seem like it. Tyler kept calling his mother, ("He won't stop crying! "How do you use this bottle thing?" "He's so tiny, can I wash him in the toilet?") until she finally moved into their house.
They settled into an uneasy routine. Tyler had started working again, and he had a lot to do, The Sailor's Heart was being turned into a book and a move, and he was working on other books, The Song of the Siren and A Sailor's Tears. Grandma did most of the childcare and cooking, she wanted to make sure Shiloh turned into a "fine southern gentleman."
One day, when Shiloh was about 3, he got frustrated because his Grandmother was trying to teach him to write, and he kept writing his Ds backwards. He toddled outside to get some fresh air. Outside, he found a nice bunny, which he petted happily. That was when he got his love of animals.
Thanks to Grandma's tutoring, Shiloh was good in school and ahead of everyone else there. He liked school, he made lots of friends there. The next few years of Shiloh's life went by in a mindless, happy blur, until when he was twelve. His father had brought a book store in Brooklyn and wanted to live by it, so they moved, and Shiloh had to go to private school.
Shiloh liked change, but he hated to leave his friends. However, soon after, he had learned that some friendships are born and maintained for purely geographical reasons. He did not fit in with the kids in Brooklyn, but it turned out to be a good things. The girls complimented his tan skin and giggled at his accent. The guys liked him because he was cool and was their best basketball player. Also, that was where he met his best friend, Cedar. Cedar was a nerdy upperclassman who seemed happy to have anyone talk to him. But, alas, Shiloh liked listening to Cedar blab about nature and other stuff.
On Shiloh's thirteenth birthday he got his first camera. He became fascinated with it and took pictures of everything. He steadily became better and better at it.
Cedar finally told Shiloh about Camp Half-Blood a few weeks ago. Shiloh laughed at first, but took him seriously when he showed him his goat hooves. Shiloh told his dad that he had gotten accepted into an art school. His father wouldn't let them leave until he gave his son a going-away present, Shay. Then, Shiloh and Cedar went to Camp Half-Blood
RP Example*:
Shiloh yawned, stretching. He grinned, looking up at the rising sun. "Today is going to be an amazing day, Shay." The dove, who landes in the grass beside him, replied telepathically. yes it is
Indeed, it was. Shiloh had gotten up much warmer than normal just to see the sunrise. He waited for the precise moment, and snapped a picture. "Perfection, as always." He smirked down at his bird. "Race ya!" He said suddenly, dashing towards Half-Blood Beach. He ran as fast as he could, when he finished, he was breathing heavily and his heart was pounding in his ears.
But Shay had still managed to beat him "NO FAIR!"
Notes: He loves to play baseball. He also is in track. He is a shot and disc thrower.
