    (Flashback)

Ethan was led into his room by the Valkyrie. He still couldn't believe he had died.... legitimately died. It had all happened so quickly. The fight, the window, losing balance, clinging on just before plummeting to the ground. How was his mother doing? Was she alright? Was she safe? The poor woman was probably still in shock. Ethan wished he could say something to her, anything, to tell her it was okay. That for some reason, he was still alive in another world. In another place. That would sound crazy but after all, she had known who his father was. She'd know about einherjar and Valhalla, right? ...Right?

    "Ethan? Do you like it?"

"Huh? Wha'?" He shook his head. "Oh, yeah. The room. It's top, thanks."

But now that he was looking at it more closely, he realized the room was far more than 'top'. It looked like a luxury skiing lodge and was shaped like a giant plus sign, with a high tech kitchenette on one side and a fancy bathroom on the other. Wait was that a walk-in shower? And a hot tub?
The foyer itself was lower than the other sections, so you had little steps leading down into the sitting area. It was furnished with comfy sofas, a plasma TV and a stone chimney, everything opulent and plush. Ethan did a 360, gawking. Vaulted ceilings, wood panneling, antler decorations, it really was just like a skiing lodge, which gave Ethan a pang of emotions. Skiing had been one of his mother's favourite activities ... it was their thing. If only she could see this room....

    "Ethan are you okay?"

He quickly blinked away the tears. "Am fine." He smiled. "This room is the bomb."

The Valkyrie nodded understandingly. "Listen, I'll give you some time to get used to it. Dinner is in two hours. If you feel ready, you can go and meet your floor mates or hang out in the lounge."
