Aria revamp (wip) Empty Aria revamp (wip)

Post by Morgan Landry 3/3/2021, 9:56 am

    Name: Louise-Françoise de Fontenay
Nickname: Atalante (French version of Atalanta), given to her by her mother.
Aria, given to her by her first love.
    Physical Age: 17
    Gender: Female
    Eyes: Stark blue
Hair: Black, with a white streak.
    Height: 1m70
    Body Type: Athletic
    Skin Color: Caucasian
    God Parent: Zeus
Family (feel free to skip this part):
Mother: Élisabeth Danaé de Fontenay, marquise de Savoie-Villars. Known as Madame de Fontenay.
Formerly a French noblewoman, a précieuse. She always spoiled her daughter, treating her like she was the center of the universe. Probably because it reminded her how Zeus had fallen in love with her, which had made her ego swell to unknown-of dimensions. I mean, Zeus -- the king of the gods himself! That kind of stuff usually makes you feel more important. Ever since he left her though, she became very insecure and started paying a lot of attention to her appearance, trying to force herself into the mold of the current beauty ideal. She spent fortunes on dresses, hair powder and jewels, living only for balls and trips to the French court.
Adoptive father: Guillaume de Fontenay, marquis de Savoie-Villars. French noble at the court of Louis XIV. He didn't pay a lot of attention to his family, as he was too busy with his responsibilities and work (on top of managing his lands, paying the staff, settling property disputes, etc.) He lived in Versailles with them, attended the social events he had to attend but whenever he had a couple of hours, he'd drop everything to go hunting in one of the adjacent forests. Therefore, Atalanta didn't see him a lot apart from meals and social events.
Mortal half-sister: Susanne-Augustine de Fontenay. Two years younger than Atalante, they didn't share a very close sibling bond. Atalante was strong-willed and reckless whereas Susanna was timid but tattletale, she'd always tell their parents about the rules she had broken. But since Atalante was the most spoiled of the two, especially by their mother, she usually got her way out of trouble. When Atalante learned about her true father, she started to act very condescending and smug towards her siblings, treating them like she treated her servants. In short, Atalante found Susanna stupid and Susanna thought Atalante was the worst brat in existence.
Mortal half-brother: Charles de Fontenay. Four years younger than Atalante. She cares for him but didn't really show it; she kept an eye on him the first years after joining the Hunt, just enough to see him get married at twenty.

Abilities (must relate to god parent; optional): Same as in her first form aka
    ∂ Communicating with birds.
∂ Gaining energy by being in contact with electricity : +20% of her current energy, plus the fact that electricity has healing capabilities on her body. When under a storm, she gains +10% of her current energy.
∂ She can sense storms arriving and assembling, especially thunderstorms. She can read airwaves and feel disturbances, including weather/climate disturbances.
∂ She can breathe and resist cold in high places.
∂ She can perceive the world around her in terms of electric energy, eg seeing energy flowing through powerlines, being able to tell if this or that technological gadget is on or not.

Powers(must relate to god parent; optional): Same as in her first form, aka:

    Electricity
∂ She can give electroshocks to objects or persons by touching them. The current she generates can go up to 0.9 ampere. Limits:  If the current is superior to 0.5 ampere, she can hold it for x=two post and needs x posts cool down. If it is 0.9 ampere, her maximum, she needs x+3 posts cool down.

∂ She can generate electricity bolts or summon them when under a clouded sky to strike down her enemies. Limits: can summon maximum three and needs x posts [x=number of bolts she summoned] cool down. So if she summoned one, it's one post cool down. Summoned two, two posts. Summoned three, three posts.

∂ She can summon electricity to accelerate her moves, the electricity can be seen coursing on her body as she does so. Limits: can hold it for max two posts, needs x+2 posts cool down.

∂ She can make lightning strike herself in order to transport her own molecules from one point to another, maximum a kilometer away. Downside of this power: can only do it somewhere where lightning and electricity are active, eg thunderstorms. Limits: needs 3 posts cool down.

    Air
∂ She can manipulate the air. This includes creating gusts of wind of varying intensity. Maximum wind blow would be of nine on the Beaufort scale. Limits: can hold it for four posts and needs x+2 posts cool down.

∂ She can condense air into kinds of jets to propel herself forward. Seven times a day, maximum five meters in any direction, ten minutes cooldown. She can also surf on airwaves and electricity waves; though the airwaves last longer (five minutes) while the electricity waves last a minute. Limits: she can hold it for one post and needs [number of meters she traveled] posts cool down. So if she propelled herself 1 meter forward, she needs 1 post cool down.

∂ She can reject air molecules to create a vacuum, thus an implosion or an air blast. Limits: She needs four posts cool down.

∂ She can assemble storms. A normal thunderstorm from her hand would last twenty minutes, for all the storms, the maximum wind speed is 74 mph and cover an area of twenty meters diameter. She can also manipulate thunder shockwaves. Limits: last five posts, need x+2 posts cool down.

    ∂ Flying through air
She can use the air like Jason Grace to fly maximum 4 km upwards. As alternatives, she can glide or walk on air, but not more than one meter above the ground. It's easier for her to fly when she uses her wingsuit.

    Electromagnetics
∂ She can create electromagnetic fields that repulse her. Limits are the same as flying.

    Life Before Hunt*:
→ Atalanta was born in Savoie to Élisabeth de Fontenay, presumed child of the Marquis de Fontenay.
→ Her parents being nobles, they were ordered to come live in Versailles at the court of the Sun King. She grew up between balls, brocade dresses and glittering jewels, attending social events in the Galerie des Glaces or strolling through the gardens of the palace. Even as a child, she made sure to always be the leader of her group of friends and did her best to undermine anybody else's authority.
→ When she was ten, her music teacher in their summer mansion turned out to be an ephialtes sent by Hera to kill her. She was saved by one of the servant boys in her mansion who was in fact a satyr.
→ Her mother got a carriage ready for them to get to Camp Half-Blood, which at the time was in western France. (I'm assuming France because Versailles, Louis XIV and stuff, radiance of civilization and luxury).
→ She started training in Camp Half-Blood with Chiron and the other demigods, quickly becoming one of the best in swordsmanship and archery. Camp Half-Blood was a new experience as here, there was no room for her spoiled attitude. She wouldn't have it her way. At first she hated it, but then gradually accepted it as she made more and more friends, first carefully choosing them in the upper society circles (because those of high blood are better than the other classes, right? It's divinely ordained, everyone knows that), then slowly broadening her spectrum as she learned to accept her fellow demigods, even those who didn't come from a background as shiny as hers.
→ She went on combat missions and even a Quest to capture the Cretan bull with two other demigods.
→ When she was fourteen, her parents informed her they were planning a marriage for her with a Duke. Whilst she had always been enthusiastic at the prospect of marriage to a nobleman, since it secured her a future of wealth and luxury (basically the life she had led so far), three complications had come along: first: when married she wouldn't be able to have the freedom and security she enjoyed at Camp Half-Blood (which the Marquise de Fontenay didn't know of), second: she was having a romance with a son of Hephaestus in Camp Half-Blood, which was her first real love (he was the one to have come up with the nickname Aria, because of her voice), and third: several maids in their mansion had recently died giving birth to their children, which had seriously cooled her off the whole pregnancy thing.
→ She tried to convince her parents otherwise, thinking she could get her way this time again because they usually spoiled her. They didn't listen to her. What Atalante didn't know was that her father had money problems and that this wedding could well save him from bankruptcy.
→ After two weeks, when she saw the prospect was getting concrete, she grew afraid, cut her hair, stole boy's clothes from the servant's laundry room and saddled a horse in the middle of the night. She took only her sword with her and a purse of louis d'or (aka French currency at the time).
→ She rode towards Camp Half-Blood. She had to smear dirt on her face and clothes to hide her female features, covering her recognizable white streak with mud so she could pretend to be a servant boy going back to his lord master, which would explain why she was riding a costly horse.
→ She stopped in several inns along the road, usually sleeping in the uncomfortable hay next to her horse's stable in case she needed to get away quickly.
→ The road was long and unpleasant. She didn't wash herself so she quickly got smelly and dirty; in the inns she could only get onions, sour ale (as water was too filthy to drink) and coarse barley bread which tasted revolting to someone like Aria who had been eating fine white flour bread all her life. To her, it was awful and she thought several times about turning back, but in the end she gritted her teeth and pulled through it, thinking about the dead maids, thinking about her love back at Camp Half-Blood, thinking about her freedom.
→ She got attacked several times by monsters along the road: two mormolyces, a drakon, a swarm of harpies, most of them sent by Hera. But halfway to Camp Half-Blood, a group of Laistrygonian giants started hunting her down. They were too many for her to overcome, she quickly realized her only option was to flee. She rode her horse until his mouth and neck were white with foam but she was still far from Camp Half-Blood when her steed collapsed under her. She hadn't dared to stop ever since she had realized she was being chased down, so she hadn't eaten or drunk anything that day. Her stomach hurt, her throat was as dry as sand, and she was too weak to use her powers. During the chase, she had asked every bird she had met to help her; they had picked at the Laistrygonians' eyes, but had managed to blind only a few.
→ They cornered her in a clearing, readying their blazing bronze spheres. She had taken out her sword even though she knew they were too many, yet determined to fight for her life.
→ That was when silver arrows flew up from the forest in a swarm, striking down five Laistrygonians at once. The next second, a group of warriors erupted from the trees, overwhelming the giants in flashes of silver and white. Hawks flew down on them, wolves tore at them. It lasted several minutes, Aria having joined into the fight, before all the Laistrygonians were reduced to piles of smoking ashes on the ground.
→ The group of warriors were the Hunters, as you might guess. They set up camp and welcomed Aria to stay with them.
→ They offered her a place in the Hunt; Aria declined at first, thinking about her boyfriend, but thought better of it overnight. Even if she made it to Camp Half-Blood, she wouldn't be able to escape her responsibilities. She couldn't just hide away. One day or the other, she'd have to get out again and face the consequences of her actions. The Hunt would provide her what she wanted: freedom, security, adventure, plus immortality, enhanced physical condition and eternal youth. That was better than any future she could foresee at Camp Half-Blood, with or without her boyfriend.
→ The next day, which happened to be her fifteenth birthday, she joined the Hunt.

    RP Example*:

    Any notes about your characters:
→ After she joined the Hunt, she was presumed dead by everyone. Her parents had launched searching parties which of course weren't successful. When she was sixteen, the Hunters briefly stayed at Camp Half-Blood, allowing her to see her old friends again, which made for shocked reactions. When she was twenty, she had a brief encounter with her mother, in which she quickly told her what had happened. She didn't see her mother much after that, Hera plagued her with sickness after sickness until Zeus took pity and changed her into a bush of blue gardenias. She attended the funerals of her stepfather, her sister Susanna and her brother Charles.
