I blinked, not really understanding what he'd said at first, so I just nodded, wrapping my arms around my knees. "Oh... uh, okay. Sure." Stealth devices, targets, extract information. What were people at camp getting themselves into nowadays? It wasn't as bad as murdering people for fun like Stella, but still, this stuff was pretty crazy. Crazy? Maybe stupid. Probably both.

"Eh... I can make fires pretty well. Without my powers...." I didn't think that was a very good hobby. Maybe reading -- no, my dyslexia got in the way of that, and I couldn't sit still long enough to read three pages. I didn't know how Benji could read all those books and not go insane.

"Free-run, huh? Pretty common hobby around here nowadays." And a stupid one too, I thought to myself, staring into the fire. The flames flickered when there was a small breeze, but I was still warm from the heat. I added another tree branch to it to fuel it some more.

I wondered what would happen if black water touched fire, maybe it would dissolve or put out the fire, I didn't feel like testing it now though.i slipped phantom into my pocket and held my hands over the fire to warm them up.

I watched the fire, absently rubbing my forearm out of habit. I didn't know why I did it, but it was strangely comforting. I wondered when I should go home to Mom with Tempest -- for a month during the summer? That might work. I wanted to see some of my friends from school, who'd probably wondered where I'd went when I didn't come back to school for the past two years. Mom might have told them something about a private school.

I frowned at him slightly, then nodded, snapping my fingers at the fire. It extinguished immediately. I got up, kicking sand over the remaining embers, and left the beach.
