"Fine," Aria said uncertainly. "Fine... just hate metal..." She looked around as well. Dang. Her first instinct was to knock out the workers and free the animals, but she knew well enough that they probably couldn't survive on their own. Instead, she moved closer to Demetrius, staring around with wide eyes.

Suddenly, I felt bad. Why had I brought her here?! This was a horrible place to bring her! With all of the cages and stuff... Goll, I'm an idiot! My body tensed but forced a smile. "What do you want to look at?"

"I dunno," Aria said with a shrug, and with that shrug, also trying to push aside her qualms. This was the twenty-first century. She'd lived without civilization for too long, she knew that. That's why she had left to begin with, because she'd known that it couldn't last. She felt his muscles tensing and knew that her distress had been sensed. "Hey," she said, prodding him gently in the ribs with her elbow. "It's cool, man. Don't feel bad, please?"

Inside I was totally berating myself. Really Demetrius? A pet store? You brought her to a pet store? You know she doesn't like man made places! And to make it worse, look at all the cages animals! It's probably torturing her inside... How could you be so oblivious, and care so little?!

"You're a really bad liar," Aria told Demetrius gently. "Come on, Kitty. Let's look at the mammals." The fish were fascinating though, flashing their myriad colors of the rainbow as they drifted around in their... their glass bowls or tanks.

Aria smiled. "It's so adorable," she told him. Then something else caught her eyes. "Oh my gods," she cried, taking a few steps away to look into a wire cage which held four German Shepard puppies.
