-I walked across an empty land.
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand.
I felt the earth beneath my feet.
Sat by the river and it made me complete!

Maya Logaine [daughter of Khione; goddess of ice and snow.]

Full Name (Including Middle): Maya Jace Logaine
Nickname/s: Some girls call her May, and most of her guys friends call her Jace, but Maya still refers to herself as Maya.
Name Meaning: Mother, Great One, Illusion
Namesake: Maya happens to share her name with her 1st grade teacher, but that was pure coincidence.

    Age: 17
    Date of Birth: January 25th

    Gender: Female

    God Parent: Khione
    Mortal Family:
Liam Rudolph Logaine; Liam, a unpublished author, lives in Port Angeles, Washington. This city, having been mentioned in the Twilight saga, attracts some tourists, but remains cold and rainy. It hardly snows, mostly because of Maya, but Liam enjoys living there. He owns the family books store, Logaine Readings, and he earns a sustainable income from working there. Liam, being only 35 years old, is a tall man, with slightly exhausted and small muscles, and a shining personality. The gods believe that it's Liam's positive outlook, and the warmth of his always eternal love and protection of Maya that gave his daughter her unique power. Also, Liam's favorite game to play is Twister, because of how easily he can beat his opponents. (Before Liam had Maya, he was into gymnastics, but he gave that up for his daughter.)
Hannah Maya Logaine; Nothing's better than being named after your sister. Hannah is the daughter of Liam Logaine only, because she was adopted after her first adopted family, Kylie and Christopher Barfield, was killed in a freak factory accident. Maya and Liam don't know much about Hannah's past, because she went mute after the tragic event that killed the two people she held so dear. For the 3 full years that Hannah has been living above Logaine Readings, she's never once spoken a word. The only sign of acknowledgement that the little orphan ever gave her two new family members was a thankful smile when she first moved in. Every now and then, Hannah and Maya sit in the small living room and dance to music, but it's rare that Hannah allows herself to be outgoing enough to dance with another person around. When she's in her room, though, the young girl of 14 dances to a CD her deceased adopted father recorded for her when she came to live at the Barfield's. Her dance skill is heightened by her dream of being a figure skater.
Khione's Human Form; When Liam first met his future lover, she was attempting to bring winter to Port Angeles. Nothing had ever troubled her so greatly. It confused the goddess, who was, and always will be, short tempered and used to getting her own way. Upset and wearily tired, Khione changed from her true, bright goddess form into a frail, pale skinned, human being. Sucking up her pride and resistance towards asking mortals for help, Khione entered Liam's book store, where a young and warm man only described as pleasantly perfect met her with a heart-wrenching smile. For the first time in years, Khione felt herself falling weak for an average mortal. The almost-mortal goddess was welcomed into Liam's condominium upstairs. The rest is history, as is Khione's mortal being, which she names herself Khi. (k-I)

    Claimed: Yes

Years in Camp: Maya has been at camp since the middle of the summer, but she is a loner.
Claiming History: Khione hasn't claimed Maya yet.
Year-Round or Summer: Maya isn't sure whether she ever wants to return to her old life, but she misses her father immensely.

    Brief History:
Maya was born on January 25th to the goddess Khione, and a young bookseller Liam Logaine. At the time, Liam was training to be an Olympic gymnast, but it wasn't hard for him to give up this dream for his daughter, because his sites were never really set on making it to the games. Khione, or Khi as she introduced herself, stuck around for only a few months, until Maya could survive without her, then left without saying her goodbyes. The story Maya always heard growing up was that her mother had gone out to the park one day and never returned. Liam knew it wouldn't work forever, because once his daughter grew older she would see all the holes in the tale, but it soothed his aching heart for the time being, and kept the young demigod from asking questions.

As Maya aged, so did her unwillingness to read. Though the Logaines owned and lived above a popular bookstore, Logaine Readings, it didn't prevent the kindergartener from developing a severe case of dyslexia. Liam was sure it was a sign of him doing wrong. In a flustered attempt to keep Maya intellectually average, the young father created a reading schedule. Maya had to read 3 hours out of the day, while sitting fumbling with a simple sentence in an even simpler book.

This was how the Khione kid spent most of her days growing up into a 10 year old. That was when her curses started to kick in. The talents were special beyond words, and powerful beyond imagination, but it sent nothing but torture to Maya's carefree life. Something bad always followed her, but strangely, something was always there to save her. Life or death situations weren't as uncommon as they should be around a girl of Maya's age. Monsters that no one else could see attacked. Beasts that could only be described as spirits haunted her after hours. Filthy mortals tried to do Maya harm. None of them ever succeeded, though, because of a boy in his late teens. Every time Maya was in trouble, he would be there to save her life. Because of the stranger she eventually started calling her friend, Miss Logaine lived through things the fates didn't mean for her to live through. Nothing seemed to frighten her as she neared the age of thirteen. She didn't have anything to worry about, after all, with her handsome protector. Maya was always too young and naive to question it, though. The boy was nothing more than a friendly stranger, possibly a second father that only came to visit. The innocent girl wasn't one to question things when she was still growing. Her life was normal. It had to be.

The first time Maya ever rode on a plane, she was the simple age of 14. Demigods weren't safe on planes, unless their godly parent dealt with the air. Liam knew it was quite dangerous to take his young daughter aboard, but he was also aware of Maya's savior. Unannounced to the first daughter of Liam, her entire life would be revealed to her over the next couple of years. The plane flight was a pivotal turning point in Maya's life, thought it started out like any other. The chaos came when the snack cart wielder spun her cart in a tight circle and spears shot out of the wheels like ancient axles. The "Snack Lady"changed then. Only a few people seemed to notice the change. Maya wasn't sure if it was because the chaos was so distracting, or because, like the monsters her savior often turned to dust, she wasn't real to normal people. The Snack Lady had turned a sickly pale shade of green. Her hair had erupted into flames, but they didn't spread, almost as if her whole hair was fire. The perfectly manicured fingernails that once handed out drinks had now grown into sharp claws. Worst of all, a long snake tail replaced the legs Snack Lady once walked on. Maya's memory of this event is fuzzy, but not wishing to waste any time, Liam and Maya's Guardian worked out a certain agreement, finding each other from across the plane. The young Guardian scrambled out of his seat, gently picked up Maya, and opened the window of the plane. Pushing his legs through first, the man leaped out.

The next day, Maya and her "friend" met Liam at the airport. The demigod who protected the cursed girl proudly handed Maya over to her father. He had kept any details of the flight out of Maya's head, though she was entering the age where she started to catch on extremely quickly, and question everything, but she seemed to notice the urgency that the flight had brought, and didn't ask anything, though her mind ached with a desire to learn. The rest of the makeshift vacation in Chicago was spent picking up the newest member of the Logaine family and attempting to get to know their new, mute, family member. Her name was Hannah. She had suffered through the death of two sets of parents. She wanted a bunny. That was everything Maya knew about her sister, and the only things she would ever really know. It troubled Liam that his new daughter didn't share things openly with her own family, but he understood what kind of pain the small 11 year old was going through, since both of his parents were dead. Hannah enjoyed living with the Logaines, but she was so distraught, they father and daughter would never know.

Three easy years passed, and Maya only saw her savior twice. That was unusual, since someone usually tried to harm the Khione girl about once every 3 days, but both Maya and Liam were grateful for the safety. Hannah seemed grateful for the stress less period, as well, because she didn't show any signs of anxiety. One night though, after a night out with two of her school friends, though, Maya's guardian savior was forced to show himself again. A dirtbag wanted Maya, and the only thing that kept her safe was the boy who was always there for her, ready to keep her alive at all costs. It was that night, the night after Maya's 17th birthday, that her savior finally introduced himself fully. His name was Thomas. He was the son of the god of hatred, and in the past, he had destroyed a city he meant to protect. As punishment, he was forced to walk the mortal earth forever. Because he was a demigod banished to the mortal world, he also became a guardian. Maya was his "client." He had to keep her alive at all costs. It was the only beneficial thing Thomas had done. He felt like he was actually serving a purpose when he kept Maya alive. Maya didn't understand anything Thomas had told her that night, because she was sure gods weren't real. She was also confused about the way she felt towards her never aging guardian. Something deep inside of the girl told her heart she loved him, but that was impossible. He was a demigod; maybe. She was nothing but a girl he had to protect. When she fainted, he was there to catch her.

Over the next couple of days, Maya recovered from her intense night. It didn't take long for Thomas to flat out knock on the Logaine's door. He had to take Maya for camp. It was an order he had been given, since he had accidentally let it slip that gods existed. Maya didn't understand, but she followed Thomas. Her goodbyes were quick and emotionless, because the teenage girl was willing to follow her demigod anywhere. She trusted him, and he was her Guardian.

At camp, Maya was shocked to realize her mother was a goddess. Though no goddess stepped up to claim her until her second week of camp, the friend of other demigods made herself comfortable in the Hermes Cabin. She was content to just remain at camp and never face her family again, though she knew it wasn't that easy. She wanted to meet up with Thomas again, but he wasn't allowed inside the camp, since it was a place claimed by Olympus. Until Maya went home to her father and sister, she wouldn't see her friend.

The first battle Maya took part in startled her. She had no training whatsoever, and she was expected to kill an enemy she knew nothing about. Maya didn't kill anyone, she didn't do serious harm to anyone either, but she figured out how to wield a sword and used that to her advantage. The ADHD she always saw as another one of her many powerful curses had really done her good that day. Thomas had to hear about the battle, though, instead of acting as a shield to the girl he longed to guard. Maya was sure Thomas had forgot about her. Thomas was sure Maya didn't miss him. Both were wrong in their own horribly sad way.

    Physical Appearance:
Maya's hair is an extremely light shade of brown. It's naturally extremely silky, soft, and straight, which could make an Aphrodite girl jealous, but from the way Maya wears her hair, you wouldn't think there's anything beautiful about it. Keeping it in a seemingly flawless and smooth bun, Maya does her best to try and make it clear there's nothing too extraordinary about her. She doesn't want to make herself look like a prize, because she still wants Dinlas. The daughter of Khione knows that Dinlas has seen her with her hair styled, and that's all that really matters. Her gently bun works for comfy days, and elegant occasions. When a strand of hair or two falls free, Maya tends to let them hang there. They frame her face nicely. Underneath her light shade of almost blonde silk is a darker shade of brown, one that highlights only the bottom layer of the girl's thin hair.

Maya's eyes are a striking, absorbing, saddened shade of dark blue. They can't be described as pools like the girl wants, and they can't easily be compared to the sky--night or day--but they are definitely blue. Like raging river, her eyes churn with anger and despair instead of gentle calm brown eyed girls can provide. The shade of her eyes is almost so unsettling, it seems unnatural, but something about her eyes also makes snow melt before her. It's a warm gaze, filled with love and fiery passion. The shape of her eyes are like ovals that extend into a steep hill at the top. This description doesn't do them justice. Her eyes are rather like almonds with a thicker width. The top of her eyes extend upwards, forming a slightly different shape then most. The way her eyes are shaped, Maya always looks hopeful, which isn't true at all. In ways, it never hides her fear, either.

The eyebrows that start on the bridge of Maya's button nose arch naturally where her own eye arches, but other than that, her blonde eyebrows are lifeless and dull. The demigod used to want to wax them to fill her face with a little more shape, but decided against it when she learned that heat is involved. One thing Maya did do to them, though, was color them. This was accidental, because she meant to grab shampoo, but Maya went with the unnatural blonde coloring. Her eyebrows had been extremely brown, which she misses on occasion, but the change was a welcome one.

Maya's nose, as mentioned before, is petite like the rest of her. It's cute like a little button, with a nice roundness to it, and two small curves on either side to allow room for her nostrils. Her skin is horribly pale, which she gets from genetics, and from living in Washington. Her mother is extremely pale, and there's hardly any sunlight in Port Angeles, which combine to bring Maya skin as fair as the snow Maya can never touch. Her cheekbones are defined and curved, but don't force her skin to tighten around her face. Her face is long, and her head is slightly oval shaped. Her lips are full and round, almost perfect, but too natural to be perfect. The entire overall appearance of her face is young, and that is enhanced by the few scattered freckles that hardly dot her face.

    Personality:
Maya is young at heart, but her juvenile youth is slowly fading as she faces more and more hardships. She knows that, but it's hard for her to except the truth. The doesn't want to believe she's any different than the day she was born, and she doesn't welcome change kindly. Though she'll sit idly by and watch life veer of the course she planned for it to travel on, all Maya wants to go is gain control. Maya is smart, mostly from reading all of the books Liam wanted her to struggle through, and she knows she has to accept the way she changes, even if it means slipping away and discovering a new Maya Jace Logaine.

Maya, no matter how protected by Thomas, is both strong and weak. The child resorts to crying. She's a crier and she'll admit it, but she's quiet, and not attention seeking. If she's crying, she won't be sobbing at the top of her lungs. That doesn't mean she'll try and hide what she's feeling. Anger hasn't ever gotten the better of her, because Maya is normally excellent at handling hate, but sadness is a welcome friend. The daughter of Khione is emotional like her mother, and but isn't nearly as easily hurt and offended. Maya can face a dangerous situation with a friend, and she isn't hard to please, which is why she finds comfort in Thomas. All she needs is a rock to strengthen her, and she'll surprise you with how brave she can really be.

While she isn't one to be loyal in an extreme way, Maya knows when to put who first. It's one of the instincts she picked up while reading. From her favorite book characters, she developed several major character traits. She got used to reading about them and managed to adapt their way of life into her own life. From Robin Hood, she learned it's okay the break the rules if you know what you're doing is right. Maya does appear to be a strict rule follower, but she really isn't. She wants to do what's right, but she understands that the rules aren't always right. Some people can just write things down and call them rules. Maya catches on quickly. She understands things better than she lets on. From Harry Potter she learned that friends are more important than any form of power or type of control. Maya tried desperately to incorporate this into her life, but since she has people problems, the only friends she ever earned didn't mean the world to her. From The Cat in the Hat, Maya learned her favorite lesson of all. Sometimes, no matter the situation, you need to remain worry free. Occasionally, you can even let loose completely. There's nothing wrong with being careless.

Maya is a very gentle person, who doesn't often hurt anything. She's never been in a commitment, and she knows she would do bad in one. Relationships overall confuse her, because she knows she must devote herself to one person without knowing how they will turn out in the end. She doesn't want to hurt anyone, but she's deathly afraid of having her own heart broken. While it's hard for her to imagine, someone won't break Maya's heart, but when it comes to her feelings, the daughter of Khione is hopelessly lost. She wants to make sure the person she ends up with loves her for her, but Maya isn't sure how to know.

Upon first meeting someone, Maya gives everyone a clean slate. She doesn't easily develop opinions or feelings towards them, and wishes to give them equal opportunities at being close to her. If they aren't good people, she won't like them because of it, but if they really are good people that others just don't like, she wants to make sure they have a chance. Maya has a good grip on things, which is how she can control how she views things so well, but when that grip slips away, so does her calm nature. If she's pushed over the edge, she isn't the same, nonjudgmental girl. When she has no control, Maya is extremely close in nature to her mother, which is a scary thought.

    Fatal Flaw:
Maya is powerful. She has curses that were bestowed on her for a reason. Maya's fatal flaw is quite unusual, because it doesn't quite have to do with her personality. The daughter of Khione is destined to fall in love someday. It's a part of her fate. But she was also given a guardian. Her guardian is a demigod. That is uncommon. Maya relies completely on the powers of the greek, especially her guardian, Thomas. With such a strong belief in the gods, Maya is left vulnerable in so many ways, because Thomas has his weaknesses that can't help Maya. She can overpower him easier than she could ever imagine, but her powers/curses won't do her any good in anything but topping the gods. Thomas is her life. Maya can't imagine not having him as a safety line. And that is how Maya was born to die.

    Roleplay Sample:
It felt like the walls were closing in on me. I had never actually been followed by anyone--pursued by anyone dangerous--before. Still, I wasn't afraid, just anxious. Someone was bound to swoop in and save me. My dangerous situations always worked out that way. It left me with no fears, but the encounter that night seemed to be extremely livid. Before then, nothing had really made me nervous.

My breath came out in ragged gasps. The dirty man closing in on me cast a shadow over his face with the hood of his thick jacket. All I could see was a devious smirk plastered on his rough face. I knew that look. I had seen that kind of tortured yearning on TV; when I was allowed to watch TV instead of trying to decipher books. I opened my mouth, but no sound came out. This was normally about the time my savior showed himself. It was always the same guy every time. I could describe him without even giving it much thought. His heroic image was impossible to forget. Actually, every time he came to my rescue, it felt like someone had punched me in the gut, and he was the only one who could make the pain go away. There was also something about him that I couldn't explain. The boy--guy--had a certain overprotective air to him; towards me.

"Back off!" I shouted, holding my hands out as a last resort. "My friend's coming to save me. He'll hurt you if I just give him the word!" I lost all hope about then. There didn't seem to be any chance of my escape; at least, not until the man was done with me. "Please, I can hurt you myself! If my friend doesn't show--"

The pursuer interrupted me with a strangled laugh. "I know that trick, sweets. Just relax," he commented as he pulled his hood down, and winked at me through a filthy face. He had horrible stubble, and dirt smeared across his brow. The man was obviously at least in his 30's, and homeless. While my heart told me to take pity on him, my instincts warned me of the danger I was in. "Things will go much easier for you if you give in."

Suddenly he dropped to the ground. Standing behind him, smiling as usual, was my "friend." "Miss me, Logaine?" he asked, stepping over the dirtbag. I blushed and laughed lightly as the mysterious savior wrapped me in a tight hug. "You're safe, don't cry," he added, combing down my hair with his hand. Apparently tears were rolling down my cheeks, but I hadn't noticed. The safety he radiated filled me with warmth, but I couldn't allow myself to stay in his arms.

Prying myself from his arms, I titled my head slightly to the left. My tears had dried, as water near me usually did. "I don't know you," I tried to explain. Of course I knew him, but that was besides the point. The boy, who looked around 19, had never even told me his name. "I'm glad you always manage to keep me alive, but . . ." Pushing a loose strand of hair behind my ear, I let out an exhausted sigh. "You never bothered to even tell me your name." Looking down at my feet in embarrassment, I waited for him to leave me as he always did.

"Logaine, you do know me!" When I shook my head slowly, the god lightly took hold of my shoulders. "My name's Thomas! I'm the som of the god of hatred, but I don't hate. I'm a guardian. I'm your guardian! I guarded an ancient town built to harbor Greeks wounded during battle. Ares got into my mind and convinced me to destroy the entire city. As punishment, I was stuck with son of the god of hatred in my second life, because the gods felt so strongly towards me. Even my grandmother, Aphrodite, can't stand me. I'm forced to walk the earth forever. I can't enter Olympus, and I'm a guardian, like I said before. I'm close to 110 years old, but for humans, I'm 19. You're the only mortal whose ever tolerated me." Pausing for dramatic effect, Dinlas went on. "Take care of yourself until I come back, will you?" my demigod finished with a real smile and laugh. As he turned and walked away, I stood stunned. It was already 11 o'clock. Dad and Hannah would be worried, but I couldn't get over what Thomas had just told me.

It sounded like a life story, but that was impossible. He said he was a demigod! He said his grandmother was Aphrodite! If gods existed, I would probably have picked Aphrodite to be his mother, because of his charm and loving nature, but gods are myths. It was simply impossible for Thomas to be telling the truth. Dinlas couldn't be his dad's name either. That wasn't a normal name. Dinlas. Impossible. Impossible. Impossible. Then there was the fact that he said he was my guardian. I didn't need a guardian. I could handle myself.

Everything raced through my head so quickly, I had to sit down. I was getting dizzy. As everything around me faded, the last thing I remembered was Thomas suddenly being next to me to catch me when I fell. The speed he had came to me seemed IMPOSSIBLE, like everything else, but I couldn't dwell on it for long, because I had passed out. When I woke up, I was in my bed, and it was morning.

    Pets:
Maya has no pets, though she's saving her spare change to buy Hannah a bunny.

    Demigod Abilities:
Anti-Snow Curse: This is Maya's most powerful curse. It overpowers that of most. In some cases, it over powers the gods. Maya simply drives away snow. She's never known any different. She is the opposite of her mother. She doesn't drive away cold. She doesn't drive away rain. Maya views this as a curse, because she never gets to play in the snow, but those who hate the wintery precipitation would be glad to have Maya around. Her curse can stretch out as far as she lures it to extend, but Maya never lures it to extend. She draws her curse as close to her as possible as forces it to hug her body. While this can be viewed as an act of trying to allow others to enjoy the snow, it's her desperate try to bring snow as close to her as possible. There will always be a barrier between them, though, and Maya can only try and fight it.
Animal Curse: There are plenty of animals associated with the snow. Maya is blessed with the ability of being able to communicate with them, like her mother can, but she must also serve them whenever they have a request. Yes, Maya is a animal-talker in a very minor form, but she is also a servant to those animals who choose to associate themselves with ice or snow. There's nothing Maya can do to defy what an ice animal orders. It's her curse.
Temperature Curse: The temperature around Maya changes constantly. It never raises from room temperature, but it will drop drastically, until she can't stand the cold and it feels like she's burning. The young daughter of Khione is the only one who seems to notice temperature changes, so Maya decided that the temperature only changes in her. It's unbearable when it gets cold enough, and she's been known to scream at random times out of the torture. Dinlas is the only one who understands these agonizing shrieks. It kills him that he can't do anything to help her, but Maya's curses are beyond even a god's reach. Even it Zeus had a motive to protect her, there's nothing he could do. Maya's curses are locked.

    Weapons:
Even though Maya doesn't trust herself with a weapon, but since she always want to be ready, her purple hair clipy turns into her beautifully long and slender Celestial Bronze sword. This, she named κατάρα, because it translates to curse.

    Other:
Okay, before you freak out on me, I'm Nico, and admin from .com! I made this character for that site, and she was the most powerful character I've ever created. She's also my most complex, up until a few weeks ago, and one of my best written, in my opinion. I thought I'd post her in her raw .com form before letting you guys go to town. I understand your rules are different and am willing to make the changes you require. Sorry if she is so corrupt it scares you. xD If it helps, Dinlas is practically a mortal for how much power he has in the mythological world and he was only mentioned in her past for character development. xD Much love!

We don't allow shape-shifting. I don't think we'd allow a god to be her guardian, either, even if he is weak by godly standards.

@Daniel: alright! Easy fix, our plot's just behind, so we have random unclaimed campers. xD But fixed.
@Kendall: Figured as much. That might take me a little longer to edit out . . .

I read through it again and it still says in her Fatal Flaw section "Her guardian is a god." Unless you mean in terms of attractiveness. Then that's fine.
