Re: A Random Chasm/Abyss
"We all go to the same place, unless you're from a different pantheon of gods," I mused, nodding to myself. "Some get reborn, some get Asphodel, Elysium.... All fun places, I suppose, except for Punishment."

"I see. I didn't understand death fully, but now that I hear about it, it seems a little more simple than thought."

Re: A Random Chasm/Abyss
"Well, that was just a basic outline -- all you need to know is not to insult the judges and any other remotely godly thing you pass." Odin got to his feet and wandered over to me, laying down next to my foot and curling up there. I glanced down and nudged him with my foot; he rolled onto his stomach and barked, wagging his tail excitedly.

Re: A Random Chasm/Abyss
Sirena noticed tha Odin had moved and she stood up, stretching her legs. "What have I missed?" She said with a rather large yawn.
Zero Responded "I wouldn't disrespect anything with a godly presensce, so I think I would do well in the underworld after death. haha"
Sirena heard this and sighed "Great, so I missed a talk about death. Glad I didn't have to hear it."

Re: A Random Chasm/Abyss
I glanced from Sirena to Zero, shrugging. "Well, if you get Asphodel, you won't see gods too often at all. Maybe, like, once in an eternity."
Odin looked up and barked happily as Sirena went over, getting to his feet. He proceeded to run around in a circle around her, barking wildly as he pawed the area in front of him, trying to get her to play again.

Re: A Random Chasm/Abyss
Zero thought for a minute, and then said "Well, yeah. Haha sometimes I think that the gods want us to live our lives solely as our own, with no help from them. Like a test of our own endurance with the things they handed us. Kind of like a survival kit, and then we are set out in the wilderness to prove our strength."
Sirena looked at Odin, being playful again. She then said "Hold on Odin. I am finding some interest in this conversation. I'll play in a minute, Ok?"

Re: A Random Chasm/Abyss
"See, it's relaxing. I'm going to go shoot some targets. You coming?"
"No Thanks." I stepped toward the Abyss and sat with my feet dangling. Nate left. I wondered how deep it was. If it had a bottom, I could kick a rock down and listen for it to land. I took a huge rock beside me and chucked it into the hole. I heard a thud, but only from the rocks under me slipping. I fell, dangling by a large stone. "Help!" No one heard me. Eventually, I gave up, and plummeted into the eternal darkness.

Re: A Random Chasm/Abyss
I walked in, yawning and rubbing my eyes a little bit. I had a very sleepy demenor about me. Until I heard screaming. "Who's there?!" I called.

Re: A Random Chasm/Abyss
"Yeah, that's exactly it -- that's why they don't stick around to help raise us. Can't be a proper hero if you're babied by the gods." I rolled my eyes -- poor kid would probably pick up a lot of godly arrogance and attitude, only (s)he wouldn't be as to back it up too well. I yawned and played with the spiraling ring holding my notebook together.
Odin stopped, looking at Sirena quizically when she told him to stop.

Re: A Random Chasm/Abyss
Zero responded "Exactly. I wouldn't have been raised the way I was if the gods paid any more attention than they do now. I am personally glad that I was raised like a dog, no offense Sirena or Odin."
Sirena responded "None taken dear. I don't think the gods raising these kids would have helped in any way at all. Could lead most of them to death at young age if it just so happened to be that way. At least I think it would work like that."

Re: A Random Chasm/Abyss
Odin, who couldn't understand what Zero was saying, barked and wagged his tail at Zero's foot.
I nodded, twirling the pencil around between my fingers. Even though I had a relatively normal childhood, I wouldn't have exchanged that for a life with the gods. "Well, it still would have been nice for them to drop by for a visit once or twice in our half-blood childhoods; I mean, most of us were miserable before we came here. Would have been nice to know we had a parent in the world who cares about us, even if they only showed it once or twice."

Re: A Random Chasm/Abyss
"I can agree to that. It seems fairly reasonable for any god parent, or even a parent to pay even a little attention to the child whom they helped to create. It isn't right for things to work out like they do. The gods owe us that much, don't ya think?" I said.

i walked in, my usual emotionless expression across my face. I stood over the edge of the abyss and looked down into the darkness.

A I walk to the edge of the chasm, I remove the bandaging and I toss it down. "Survival...." I say studying the scars on my arm, the 8th one bleeding. I pull out some gauz and I rap it around the bleeding scar.
