Vanessa King
Name: Vanessa Autumn King.
Age/Birthday: Vanessa is fifteen. She was born on April eighth.
Gender: Vanessa is female, obviously.
God Parent: Vanessa is a daughter of the goddess of the moon, Selene.
Claimed: Yes, Vanessa is indeed claimed. She was claimed while laying on the roof of her old house late at night, watching the stars.
Mortal Family: Seeing as Vanessa's father, Timothy King was a world-traveling archaeologist, she spent most of her time with her step-mother, Rita Yimseng-King. Her relationship with her father is a weak one. She doesn't particularly like Rita Yimseng-King but, she deal with it. Vanessa was treat like crap by her father. He called her a distraction, a waste of space, etc. Anything that would make her upset. Rita would stand, watching from afar while biting her lip and trying not to yell. Rita couldn't careless about Vanessa. It was all an act. And, as soon as she got the chance, she woould ship her off to school. Vanessa hates her family. Let's just leave it at that.
Years in Camp: Vanessa has been at camp for two years.
Brief History: When Vanessa was just a child, her father was around much more. At that time, he didn't have the job he has now. Vanessa was never the type of kid who would scream and cry to get what she wanted. She never asked for toys. Okay, there was the exception of the Easy Bake Oven but, that was pretty big deal for her. As Vanessa grew older, her father grew more distant. He finally got his dream job, being an archaeologist when Vanessa was seven. Soon after, her father re-married Rita Yimseng.
Upon entering high school, Vanessa excelled in her academics and, to her parents surprise, joined Band. She played trumpet and, currently, she's learning flute. Vanessa met her best friend, Elliot Carter. He was in band and also, on the student council. Vanessa use to have a crush on him but, she's beyond that now. She was bullied in middle school and high school. Ironically, Vanessa attended a private, catholic middle school without knowing about Selene, her godly mother.
When the day came, she was told about her mother. That was also the day of her step-mothers death. Vanessa went to school, just like any other day. She sat down in her first period class and began to tap her pencil against her lips and stare at her teacher for the rest of class. When leaving the classroom, her arm was grabbed and she was pulled down the hallway. Kids laughed at her and she grunted and tried to break free. Finally, after minutes of pulling her around, the women with such a strong grip on her pale arm, let go. Vanessa angrily stood up and turned around to face the women and shrieked. Everyone had cleared out of the halls already and this monster had dragged Vanessa into the stairwell.
Vanessa tried to run down the stairs but, the women had her wrist now. She wiped her arm around, finally breaking free. The women was eight feet tall with scaly green skin and a long serpents tail. Earlier, if someone told her she was going to be attacked by a Greek monster, she would have laughed and called them insane. Now, it was no joke. She could die. Vanessa kneed the women in her abdomen and ran down the stairs, throwing open the door and running for the administration office.
Rita picked her up from school and brought her directly to camp. She told Vanessa to get out of the car and go to the blue house, she was down with her. Vanessa threw around some colorful words and slammed the car door. Rita's house was later ambushed by monsters and Rita was killed.
Physical Appearance: Vanessa has long black hair that goes down just past her shoulders. It's wavy and often hard to tame. She wears it in a messy bun most of the time. When she's angry, she will pull excruciatingly hard on her hair. When she's in a good mood, her hair looks nice and neat. If she's been crying, her hair is matted and often hard and sticky, from beer spills. Yes, she drinks when she's sad.
Vanessa has dark, brown almost black eyes. She wears a small amount of make up. Her eyelids are smaller than average, so when she closes her eyes, you can still see a bit of her eye ball. It's strange. Her eyelashes have never been curled. They curl on their own. Vanessa has soft, pale skin. She is a teenager, she does get acne but, its mostly on her forehead and she covers it up with her bangs. A small scar reaches from the corner of her mouth for a centimeter.
Vanessa stands at a rather short height of 5'4". She is comfortable with her height though. Her weight is average, being 120lbs. She has an curvy body. Vanessa is never seen without her charm bracelet. Her charm bracelet has a collection of silver musical instrument charms clipped onto its silver linking lock chain. Her usual outfit comprises of a thin hoodie, a plain t-shirt and either shorts or pants, depending on the weather. She wears an assortment of shoes. From gladiator sandals to wedge boots.
Personality: Vanessa's dominant trait is her selflessness. She is always there to help others. Vanessa is one of the rare amount of teenage girls who don't take everything for granted. She will give her food to poor and homeless, she'll send those kids in Africa you see in the sad commercials the money they need to medicine and school. I know, Vanessa sounds like a angel right about now but, were about to get into the bad stuff.
Vanessa is emotionally weak. If her voice breaks or she chokes on her words during conversation, thats when you know you've hurt her. Mention of any family, or school or even the names Rita, Timothy and Elliot. She will breakdown. Vanessa may come on as a drama queen when this happens. Her crying, if she does, gets very intense, probably more intense than expected.
Since going into high school, Vanessa's grades have gone up significantly. She now gets A's and B's instead of B's and C's. Her classmates would call her brilliant and "super duper smart". Vanessa enjoys band almost more than normal. She's a total band geek. She wears a honolulu blue hoodie with her schools crest on the back. It's a special version for band though. The inside of the hoodie is decorated with a gray and blue fabric. On the gray fabric, little musical notes and instruments decorate the bland color. Vanessa adores band.
RP Sample: In Vanessa's two years at camp, she had never came across a battle. This was what she'd been training for. A major stepping stone in her demigod career. Vanessa had been waiting for her moment to shine and this was it. Carefully strapping and latching her armor, a special grin played on her face. Time to kick some monster butt. Though, she was extremely nervous. Also, sick to her stomach and had a flu but, she would fight for her family. The only ones she had left. Camp Half-Blood. So, she grabbed her throwing knives and strapped them to her thighs and put her sword in its hilt. She was ready for battle.
Once at the Labyrinth, Vanessa's heart sank to her stomach. She swallowed a lump in her throat and began to jog, which turned into running. She let out a hearty grunt as she elbowed a enemy camper in his breastplate. Vanessa glared like a war demon and stabbed them in the side, where the kink in their armor was. Unfortunately, behind the camper, was hellhound just waiting to attack Vanessa. She looked up in fear at the furry black beast. Her lip trembled and she let out a whimper. She was terrified of dogs. Especially, monster dogs.
Soon enough, she was pinned on the ground, giant globs of dog slobber drenched her face. She closed her eyes tight as the hellhound's head grew closer and snarled. Just as she was about to become dog food, golden dust rained down over her. She slowly opened her eyes, to see a boy's hand streched down towards her. "I'm Zach. Son of Demeter." He said with a grin. Grinning? During a war? Vanessa spit on the ground next to her. Blood sprayed from her lip, where she'd hit the ground. "I'm Vanessa. Daughter of Selene." She nodded and pulled herself up using Zach's hand. Vanessa hugged her stomach, her flu was really getting to her. She had a twisted ankle from when the hellhound smacked her with its paw. She was in terrible pain. Vanessa winced and took a step away from the battle.
Fatal Flaw: Vanessa is selfless. She will put other people before herself too often to be safe.
Pets: Vanessa has a Husky and German Shepard mix named Bay.
Talents: Vanessa is talented in an a lot of random things. For one, she plays Trumpet very well and is learning Flute. She can skateboard pretty well. She's not expert though. Vanessa is good with her sword and knives. She's learned technique over her years at camp.
Weapons: Vanessa uses a basic sword and throwing knives that stay strapped to her thighs. When in battle or during Capture The Flag, she wears a set of polished bronze armor with tight leather straps to secure it.
Year-Round or Summer: Vanessa stays year round. Since her dad travels and Rita is dead, she has no where to go.
