Jordan Marshall Armstrong
Name: Jordan Marshall Armstrong is his full name, his middle name is Marshall in honor of his grandfather.
Gender: Male
Race: Caucasian
Skin Tone: Jordan’s skin is a handsome shade of tan. He spends much of his
time outside, but has a pale arm and torso, a side effect of rarely removing his shirt, or going anywhere without a heavy jacket.
Eye Color: Jordan inherited light brown eyes from his mother, hinted with flecks of gold from his dad.
Hair: Jordan has short brown hair that never grows out past an inch. Jordan's hair becomes curly when it grows out too much, so he prefers his hair short. Jordan doesn’t do much with it, style-wise, usually pushing his hair back, making a slight flip in the front.
Height: Jordan stands six feet and three inches tall (6’3”), towering over most of his friends, and making his mother feel like a child.
Weight: Jordan works out often to keep strong, keep in shape, and make sure his smithing is at its best. When first coming to camp he was thin and scrawny, weighing only one-hundred fifty pounds. Jordan put on a lot of weight (in muscle) and currently weighs 259 pounds (23 pounds accounting for his metal prosthetic.)
Body Type: Jordan is heavily built with wide shoulders, a broad chest, and a thinner waist.
Mortal Parent: Catherine Armstrong. Catherine grew up in Chicago Illinois, and went to the Art Institute there to get a career in designing cars. She decided she didn't like that, she wanted a more hands on approach. She left for Georgia and opened up her own repair shop. Catherine stands only 5 foot, 9 inches, and smiles as her son towers over her. Catherine is a kind and ornery woman, she’s a good mother, but isn’t afraid to poke fun at her son, or whip out those baby pictures in front of his friends. Recently Catherine has been seeing a guy named Brian he’s a pretty cool guy, and a regular customer at Catherine’s auto-shop. He and Jordan get along pretty well, but either of them don’t see much of each other. Jordan likes Brian a lot, but couldn’t really see him as a father, but would respect his mother’s decision if she decided to marry Brian.
Godly Parent: Hephaestus, god of the forge, metal-working and fire.
Place of Birth: Jordan was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and remains living in Georgia today.
Date of Birth: Jordan was born on November 23rd, and was born with the zodiac sign of Sagittarius. He is currently eighteen years old.
Weapon: Jordan uses a large, celestial bronze great-sword. The sword sits almost five feet long (including the handle). Jordan must use both hands to wield the sword and proves a devastating opponent. Jordan also has a large metal prosthetic. The prosthetic replaces Jordan’s left arm and is a steel, and Celestial bronze alloy. The main structure is formed with steel, and has bronze plates, which he uses as a secondary weapon.
Armor: Jordan was gifted with armor by his father during the holidays. A zippo lighter. When the lighter is opened and ignited, fire will consume the holder, and leave shining golden armor in its wake. The fire will not burn the wearer, or anyone or anything near by. The armor will stay for ten minutes, but can be returned prematurely by punching the gauntlets together. It can be worn by anyone, and magically fits the holder's body. The armor is fairly heavy and causes the wearer to move slower, but supplies more protection.
Powers: Jordan has a big influence over flames. A fire will generally respond to his emotions growing when he is angered, diminishing when he is sad. When angered Jordan can even control fire (to an extent) if his anger gets too out of control, the fire will "disobey" his commands and run out of control, hurting/destroying anything in its path. This power can only be used when he is angered, and even so, he doesn't have much control over it. The fire can grow up to 700 degrees Fahrenheit, and can be manipulated ten times a day for ten minutes. Jordan can create a giant wave of fire which can reach fifteen feet tall and fifteen feet wide. The wave can be pushed forward twenty feet, but cannot change direction after it is pushed forward, because of its power, it limits Jordan to command fire only four times a day.
As a secondary ability Jordan instantly knows how a machine works. It isn't something he can turn off, its like an instinct (much like how a child of Poseidon instantly knows how a ship works, or their instant location of Latitude and Longitude at sea).
Pets: Jordan has a bloodhound named “Titus” but Titus stays in Atlanta with Catherine.
Skills/Talents: Jordan is a skilled mechanic and blacksmith. He is capable of fixing most motors, engines, or anything mechanized. Jordan can easily fix a car, but small things like ipads, and laptops are completely beyond him. Jordan can also craft weapons very quickly. Anything from wood based weapons like cross-bows, to an entire suit of armor he can craft within a few hours. Jordan also isn’t too shabby at sports like foot-ball, shot-put, and weight-lifting.
Flaws: Jordan’s main flaw is anger. Jordan has found that he’s annoyed easily by excess noise, rude behavior, or anyone who argues with him. His annoyance can quickly escalate to full blown rage, which entices Jordan to push himself to his highest limits. When angered Jordan will overuse his powers, run his body into the ground, and essentially use all of his energy in a few moments. When angered Jordan is his most powerful, but his most vulnerable. When Jordan is angry he becomes cocky and can easily be outwitted, and defeated.
Jordan also cares too much for his friends. He would throw himself in front of a speeding car for someone he loved. As long as Jordan’s friends are in danger he would take every single attack for them if he could. Jordan would address every one of their wounds before even thinking of his own, he could be bleeding out but would make sure a friend’s bonk on the head wouldn’t develop into a concussion.
Jordan can be extremely stubborn. If he believes he needs to do something he won’t change his views. This can be very annoying if he decides to do something reckless, or something hopeless. This flaw mixed with his second flaw (caring too much for his friends) can be devastating, and could possibly end his life. If he decided to save one of his friends, knowing he could die while trying, he couldn’t be talked out of it.
Jordan also tends to overlook a lot of details when he is doing something. He likes to believe he can fix everything with his sword and muscles and doesn’t exactly like to plan. When fighting monsters he will simply go in on gut-feeling and wreck havoc. Jordan will only stop and consider a situation if it is explained to him by a friend, or someone he trusts, or if he’s being defeated in a battle. Jordan can be easily led into traps with this flaw, and would blindly go unless the situation is made apparent.
Jordan is crippled. He is currently missing his left arm (just below the shoulder) and his left leg (at the knee). He built metal prosthetics for them, but they require constant maintenance and if they were to be removed, he’d be stranded and completely unable to fight. Jordan’s left leg was taken as the result of a monster attack during his quest to Alaska. Jordan’s arm was removed by his own hand. Jordan’s arm was dysfunctional. It was weak and limp and was not able to be successfully used. After being bullied by a group of kids at school, he went home and attempted to cut off his arm. Jordan is extremely sensitive about this topic, and doesn’t even like people knowing he has a prosthetic arm. He’s afraid he would appear weak if he told people, so he hides the prosthetic by wearing heavy jackets, and lies about its origin if someone asks.
Strengths: Jordan’s strengths dwell in the battlefield and the forge. Jordan is an exceptional fighter and intimidates his opponents with his heavy bronze great-sword. With only a few hits he can reduce his opponents to a bloody pulp.
Jordan also excels in the forge. He can craft intricate weapons and armor in only an hour or so. Because Jordan builds and crafts so many weapons and armor pieces, he can easily locate an item’s faults through exposed joints of the armor, or weak plating. He can also tell the best place to strike to disarm his opponents.
Jordan also excels in fields like chariot racing, volleyball, arts and crafts (Like sculpting), and eating. A lot of eating.
Weaknesses: Surprisingly, one of Jordan’s weaknesses also exists on the battlefield. Jordan is strong and he knows it, but because his weapon is so heavy, his movements can become labored. His slow movements are an omen to a powerful strike, but he can easily take hits in between each strike if his opponent is faster than he is
Jordan is absolutely terrible at archery. Despite being able to craft a bow with ease, he cannot, for the life of him, fire an arrow from it.
Jordan also lacks skill in swimming, Pegasi and horse riding, strategic planning, and healing.
Fears: Jordan is terrified of losing anyone he loves. Which is one of the reasons he focuses on addressing the injuries of his friends so quickly.
Personality: Jordan grew up knowing the idea of "Southern Hospitality". Jordan always tries to get to know people quickly, and becomes close friends with many people. He knows for a fact that death is common, people don't last forever, so he makes the most of his time, spending it making people happy. Jordan usually isn't open about his personal life, afraid the conversation my go somewhere uncomfortable. If Jordan is comfortable around someone, without something obscuring his left arm, you know you've made it on his friends list. Jordan will let friends see his prosthetic, and if he explains how he got his prosthetic in the first place, you know you're one of the few people he holds the most dear.
Jordan would call himself adventurous but he can be reckless. He loves to have fun, and wants people with him to have as much fun as he is having. Though Jordan loves to enjoy himself, he knows when it is time to focus, and when he needs to kick some monster booty. Jordan is extremely loyal, and would throw his life on the line for one of his friends. If he could he'd offer his soul to Hades to get one of his friends back from the dead. Jordan enjoys the beauty and simplicity of life, sitting on the beach, watching the stars, or just sitting in the breeze, Jordan is easy to please but will love a person forever if they take the time to make him something. (Crafts, food, clothing, etc) Being a craftsman himself, Jordan appreciates the time put into fabricating a gift from scratch.
Jordan is a very loving and caring person. Jordan is very passionate, and shares his love with anyone he feels deserves it. Jordan doesn't fall in love with just anyone. He only attaches himself to someone who seems to need him, or someone he finds, interesting or fascinating. Jordan will latch onto someone for a long time and doesn't handle schisms well. Jordan doesn't care for looks. He knows he's not the most attractive person in the world, especially being a son of Hephaestus, he cares about personality. Jordan will instantly attach to someone who shows some sort of affection back to him.
Jordan will take hits like rock. He could be tortured, beaten, mutilated, and he wouldn't show many signs of defeat. It's almost impossible to get information out of him through physical pain, emotional is another story. Jordan would kill for his friends, and if his loved ones are held as leverage, Jordan would spill everything in his immediate knowledge. Jordan's wrath is easily triggered if any sort of harm purposely falls upon his friends.
Accent/Dialect: Because Jordan’s mother grew up in Chicago, she gained an Inland North dialect. Jordan picked up the accent from his mother, as she was the one he spent the most time with. Jordan doesn’t easily develop accents, but sometimes as a slight hint of a southern accent.
Likes: Jordan likes food. A lot. Jordan always seems to be hungry and usually will be found with some sort of snack on his person. Jordan also likes cars, good loud music, puzzle games, dogs, he has a secret weakness for musicals, most social outings, warm beverages, and can't resist rainy days, Jordan loves the sound of rain, it's soothing.
Dislikes: Jordan dislikes vulgarity, anyone with too much pride, stop signs hidden behind trees, monsters, feeling weak or vulnerable, watching people in pain, or sitting helplessly as his friends get hurt, and centipedes, centipedes freak Jordan out.
Social Status: Jordan is relatively popular. He enjoys doing favors for people, and his kindness is found to be attractive. Jordan always tries to make people fit in, and wants them to have the best time possible. He will try to make a person feel popular and hates lonely attitudes, it simply entices him to be their friend.
Appearance: Jordan is well built with broad shoulders and thick muscle covering almost every inch of his body. Jordan has as square jaw, thinner lips, and a longer pointed nose. If Jordan were to remove his shirt, one would see scars littering his body. His back is covered in dozens of claw marks and bite marks from a run-in with mormo, and his bulky chest and abs are covered in healed stab wounds and slashes from accidental sparring strikes, or from other monsters.
Summer or Year Rounder: Jordan tends to stay at camp through the years. He goes home each spring to visit his mom, maybe check in at school, but is usually pretty adamant about getting his education done and out of the way, so he can focus on camp.
Years at Camp: Jordan has spent about five to six years at camp and wants to stay for a while. He fears he is getting too old for camp and wishes time would slow down a bit.
Life Before CHB: Jordan grew up out in the country with his mom in Atlanta, Georgia. He lived in a fairly large house on an even bigger plot of land. The home belonged to his grandfather who died and left his home to his daughter, Catherine. Jordan grew up watching his mom build and fix cars in her auto shop. He came to work with her often, and grasped the knowledge quickly, and even was able to apply the knowledge to real life situations. By the age of ten, Jordan could take apart a car engine and put it back together again in only few minutes. He always seemed to know what was wrong with a machine just with a quick glance. He saved his mother lots of money by repairing a hydraulic lift, many tools in the shop, and even helped her design an engine which runs on less fuel, and produces fewer emissions. Jordan found he really enjoyed designing machines, and doodled a lot of robots, and prosthetics.
A few years before Jordan discovered his ability to see how machines function, Catherine reluctantly enrolled him in middle school, which shared the same building as high school students. Jordan's left arm was awkwardly twisted and was weak, and hung limp at his side. Jordan couldn't muster much use from his arm, and this made him a target for bullies. After school one day, a group of Juniors pinned him against a wall in the locker rooms, and began to insult him and beat him. He cried the first couple of times, but it became a common occurrence, and he toughened up, learning to take the beatings, but the insults still cut deep. This continued for several months. He always was good at hiding his wounds from his mom, and from his teachers, no one ever saw, so no one ever asked. The beatings continued and the insults took their toll. After being harassed by a group that was bigger than usual he rushed home, and made sure the beatings and insults would stop. Jordan went to the garage after school, tightened a rubber hose around his upper left arm and began to hack away at the useless limb with a hack saw. The nerves in his arm did not function well so he continued through the bone, without much pain, until he ended up losing most of his arm. Jordan realized what he had done and his body went into shock from blood loss. His mother returned from work only a couple of minutes later and went quickly to stop the bleeding of the severed limb. She cauterized the wound and rushed him to the emergency room where they quickly assessed his injuries and surgically closed the wound. After three blood transfusions, Jordan woke up to find his mother in pieces. He wasn't wearing a shirt as he rested, showing the world the injuries he received from the kids at school. She blamed herself for all of this, knowing she could have stopped him if she had been home sooner.
A few months later, after his wounds were completely healed, Catherine had been looking through all of Jordan's doodles, and realized that the designs could function. She took his designs and complied a few to develop a prosthetic limb for her son. The limb was thin and formed from steel, gilded in chrome to prevent rust and corrosion. Jordan came back to school for the last couple of weeks and sought revenge on the boys who had broken him. He got into 13 fights in three days and broke something of each of the boys who had tortured him, jaws, teeth, ribs, knees, fingers, small things, but it was painful for the boys. Jordan was expelled, and a few parents tried to sue for their children's medial bills. Of course they canceled the charges once they realized the damage their children had caused.
Jordan's fighting attracted a herd of monsters. Jordan and his mom were overwhelmed by a pack of hell hounds and a cyclops, one night, and Jordan fled. He didn't want to leave his mom, but she had packed his backpack as if she knew something bad would happen. She held off the monsters as Jordan got away firing a shotgun at each black dog that moved too close, leaving a pile of golden ashes. Jordan was told his father would keep him safe on his way to camp. Jordan was able to find multiple bus rides to New York and was relieved that no more monsters attacked, but was upset that his dad never showed. He arrived at camp in early June and fell in love with the place almost instantly.
Role-playing Example:
Jordan coughed as a bony fist cam in contact with his gut. Two boys at his sides pinned his arms against the rough brick wall, his struggling caused the skin of his knuckles and arms to be scraped raw. Profanity insulted his ears and the beatings continued, a kick in the ribs, a sharp elbow to the gut, and a heavy kick to the groin sent the thirteen year old pleading and crying for them to stop. But it didn't stop. It continued. For seven months. Jordan learned to take the hits. He showed no reaction to the pain, taking each hit as if her were lost in a dream. It hurt, but it didn't bother him. Not anymore.
Jordan laughed as his head was jerked to the side from a sharp punch to his cheek bone. He really should have thanked those boys. They taught him to deal with torture. Jordan's head rolled back to stare out in front of him as he flashed a cocky smile at the "Fairest Queen". "Why are you here!?" She shrieked again. Jordan smiled and spat a mouth full of blood onto the stone floor. His lip was split and bleeding, his eye had swollen shut and his nose was turned at s sharp angle, blood tickled down over his lips and chin, but he felt fine. He could tell Lamia was angry, her jaw was clenched and he could see pure hatred in her glowing ember-like eyes. A sharp set of claws raked across his muscular chest and over his shoulder. He laughed, tilting his head back exposing his throat which shone a bright red from the trickling blood. "You can hit me all you want." Jordan laughed spitting another mouth full of red, "You won't get a peep out of me."
