Thalia dropped to her knees. The rain was pouring around her, splattering, splashing. Lightning flashed across the sky.
She was alone, completely alone.
And that was the problem.
She fell forward, and her palms hit the ground and sank into the mud. Her eyes were wet, but unlike the rest of her body, her eyes were wet with water that tasted of salt.
She was in a forest somewhere in the Pacific North West. And she couldn't help but remember being here before, years and years and years ago.
Several hundred years, in fact.
It was a time when, however shattered her life may have seemed, she knew who she was. And she had been in love.
But had never gotten the chance to admit it.
And there was no way she'd be able to admit it now, being what she was.
It had been several hundred years. And yet she was still completely in love with one guy.
And he was gone.
