Maeve reached out and placed a hand on one of the pegasai's muzzles. It was soft, like velvet, and the hairs were short. She continued to pat the light dusty-brown pegasus on its nose, watching as it delightedly blinked its large eyes. Maeve was in the stables. It was a regular schedule class thing, here at camp. For her it was every Monday and Thursday, from two to five. Technically, she was obligated to come, but sometimes during their break, she would visit. So she could escape.
The girl took a deep breath. It smelled like hay and horses, and, granted, a bit like manure. But not much. This week's cabin who had stable duty did a good job. For a moment she wrinkled her nose at the thought of the Hermes kids doing it. Or at least, attempting. When it was the turn of a cabin that just didn't care, the kids who really did care, that weren't even apart of the original cabin's duty, would ban together and clean it. Maeve usually didn't help. Not that she didn't care, oh no. It was just the fact that there would be other people there.
Maeve leaned her forehead against the nose of the large animal. "Hello, Margaret. You ready to fly today?" The term, 'fly' made the pegasus shuffle her wings a tiny bit. Maeve smiled. Margaret was a loving, friendly animal that took to most everyone. She was patient and kind. And Maeve was so glad that her class time didn't mix in with the time the beginner's class. Because if it did, then she wouldn't be able to spend time with her. And yes, it really was a bit of a selfish thought but.... Maeve shrugged. At least she wasn't causing any harm.
Maeve opened the stall door and quickly delved her hand into her pocket, pulling out some corn. She make some clicking noised with her tongue, encouraging the horse-like creature to follow her.
