It was a cold day in San Francisco, the fog heavily coating the bay and the surrounding neighborhood of cities. Lindia walked the streets, her head covered by her dark maroon hoodie as a light rain came down. Why was she in San Francisco? Because she was going to San Quentin, to see her father. She hasn't spoken to him since the incident in Venice, during the carnival. Now she was eighteen, and wanted to know what she was entitled to as his successor. That and her mother had ordered her too...but that was a story for another time.
Stranded without a ride or enough money to pay for a cab or BART, she continued walking, her stained sneakers splashing through the puddles, illuminated by the lights on either side of the empty street. Her sword was poking out of her backpack, along with her other required items for a journey outside of Camp Jupiter, her iPod, Vanilla Coke, Headphones, ect. She sighed, pulling out the silver iPod Nano, one of the older versions and putting in her headphones. Ke$ha began to play through the worn headphones as she stuck her hands in her pockets and continued to walk. Then something made her pause.
Not twenty feet in front of the demigod was a centaur, laying waste to a jewelry store, right on the edge of Chinatown. Although she wanted to get back to camp as soon as possible, the little voice in her head told her to kill the monster, don't let it hurt any mortals. Against her better judgment, Lindia reached behind her and took a firm grasp of her keychain, then yanking it off the bag watched as it transformed into an Imperial Gold gladius. Charging without hesitation; not a good choice, but she did it anyway, jumping upon the centaurs back before chopping at the back of it's head, and feeling the acid-like blood pour into her hand. Screaming, she fell off the disintegrating monster, her hand in extreme pain as she cursed, alerting a certain demigod in the area....

Jane had been in the bay, admiring the sights and sounds and...people of the area. Such diversity! Having enjoyed the Asian, American, and Mexican aspects equally. She sat on top of a roof, watching the stars travel across the sky and wonder if Selene was watching, or perhaps her mother? She had never met her mom, Melinoe, but knew she would eventually.
Her face shined faintly, her ghastly pale skin even more creepy and horrendous at night. In each hand she held a bloody machete, celestial bronze and stained from her meal of human flesh. She wore stained jeans with a black shirt and bloody sweatshirt on too. She didn't wear the dress her ex had given her after he almost killed her often, but when she did, she was on a murder spree. She smiled, her eyes nothing but black holes as she looked up into the sky, feeling the cold wind off the bay.
Then she heard a scream. Someone, a young girl by what she heard had screamed in pain, and brought a delighted smile to Janes face. A victim already in pain? A perfect dessert! She jumped up, then began to run towards the sound of the whimpering of pain. Finally, she jumped into an alley and saw the victim across the way, a pile of monster dust quickly vanishing into the ground, back to Tartarus. A demigod meal would complete her experience on the west coast. Walking out of the shadows behind the girl, she got right behind her, then paused.
The girl had dirty blonde hair, a red and blue streak running down several parts of her head. A golden sword lay nearby, we well as a backpack, it's contents scattered across the empty, damp street. Maybe there was some pop in the bag.... Jane thought before she corrected herself and knelt behind the girl, obviously older: perhaps 18, and clapped her hands right behind her.

Lindia heard someone clap right beside her and jump, a small yelp coming from her mouth when she realized it was the same thing she saw from that movie commercial the other night, the conjuring or something. Slowly she turned, her hand still burnt and hastily wrapped and saw the person behind her. Then she screamed. It was horrible! Her fears slowly turning into reality as she backed away, the sight of the girl in front of her scaring her out of her wits. Was she a demon? A ghost? A demigod? She didn't know, but when she saw the machete she knew that girl was not there for tea: but to kill her.
She attempted to grab her gladius, as it lay only a little bit away from her when the demonic remains of the girl spoke, her empty eye sockets staring into Lindia.
"I wouldn't pick up that...it'll only make my meal messier" she hissed as she held her machete, slowly walking towards Lindia and smirking evilly. "Just don't go to sleep, it'll be the last thing you do" she said and struck.
Lindia knew then she was a demigod, no monster could do that. But last meal? Was this girl a cannabal? She didn't know, but she didn't intend to find out as she rolled to the side, the girls machete grazing her arm before it sunk into the asphalt. She quickly cursed, followed by picking up her golden weapon and holding it ready, looking at the girl as she drew and unsheathed another machete, holding one in each hand. She watched as the demonic figure got into a stance, her face twisted into a devilish grin from hell. Lindia smirked, and although her hand hurt like hell and her arm was slightly bleeding, her adrenaline kept the pain away as she slashed towards the girl. The first slash clanked harmlessly off the girls machetes, to which the girl sneered as she began her attack...
~~~
Jane was slightly impress that this demigod had the balls to stand up to her, and actually fight through her injuries to attempt a slash. Jane sneered though, she would end this rather quickly as she swirled her twin blades, each time it went around she stepped closer to the other girl. "You will die, and I'll feast on you. Demigod" she hissed, slicing with both of her celestial bronze weapons at the same time. She watched as the girl blocked one, but the other hit her below the knee and cause another slight injury to the blonde.
The girl fought through even that though! Jane was more than astounded now as the girl got up and drew a knife, quickly throwing it into Jane's shoulder. Jane hissed in pain, slashing around at the girl faster and faster, her blades cutting through anything they came into contact too. Finally she started striking the girl, her swordplay fast and furious as she alternated her blades between offense and defense. She could feel her blood drip down her shoulder, but bit through the pain as she kept attacking, finally stepping back to see what the remains of the other demigod when she gasped. The girl was....alive! Not only alive but she stood inside some sort of purple bubble. She was a child of Hecate...Jane sneered, looking at this new angle. A child of Hecate...a child of magic. However, Jane had a trick up her own sleeve. She charged, appearing as if she was going to slam into the barrier, making the other girl tense. That was exactly what Jane wanted as she jumped into the air, then landed on top of the bubble with full force, and both blades cracking the barrier. She saw the fear in the other girls eyes and laughed demonically as she kept hacking away at the quickly disintegrating shield. What she wasn't expecting was the shield to fall so easily, and she got a boot slammed into her gut, knocking her back as well as knocking the wind out of her.
~~~
Lindia laughed mentally, her foot having just made contact with the demonic demigods stomach. Lifting her sword she used her other hand to search her backpack, withdrawing a vial with a green liquid in it. Uncorking it she instantly gulped it down and dropped her sword, rubbing her hands together. Magic flickered around her fists before it solidified, making her fists appear three times as large, and three times as powerful. She ran at the demon and swung her fist upward, knocking the girl back and against the wall.
"Lights out" she said simply and pounded away at the girl, punch after punch landing hard blows until the magic wore off, and Lindia dropped the girl. "Unconscious" she guessed and kicked the girl for good measure before collecting her bag and items. She turned to leave, then had a second thought. Who was this girl? Where did she come from? She had a bronze weapon instead of a golden one...and was obviously a demigod... She hastily tied the girls hands behind her back and slung the demonic girl over her shoulder. She would have to smuggle her back into camp...or take her to the cops. She shuddered at the idea of the cops and decided that wasn't a good idea. She would have to take her to camp.
She began to walk, slowly making her way to Oakland, where the camp would be waiting....and perhaps even trouble. It was a hard trip in the rain, to walk all that way while dragging a person with her. She finally gave up, and plopped down in an abandoned store, watching the demonic demigod sleep. Who was she? She kept asking herself as she paced, sword in one hand, Vanilla Coke in the other, she needed the caffeine. Finally, she slumped against the wall and fell asleep, unaware of the trouble she had just gotten herself into.
~~~
Jane groaned as she woke up, her head spinning, and her shoulder burning in raw pain. Her vision cleared gradually and she began to take in her surroundings. She instantly recognized where she was, it was a place very familiar to the peculiar girl; Starbucks. Jane glanced around the empty coffee shop, straining her wrists against her apparent bonds that tied her to a table. She glared, cursing slightly as she examined the other demigod, asleep. She smirked, a plan coming to mind. Now the tables were turned. Feeling the knot with her hands she could tell it was hastily done, easy to untie. She almost laughed at the girls stupidity as she untied herself, then picked up her machetes and sheathed them back. Now to wonder what to do with this magical idiot...
Jane tied Lindia's ankles together, then wrists, and finally tied the girl against the table, making sure she was tightly secured. After that was all done she slipped behind the counter, starting up the coffee machines to make herself a perfect latte. The ordinary workers didn't understand she preferred real blood as a creamer. She smirked as she sipped her coffee, staring at the other girl and thinking what to do. She could eat her, sure, or take her to camp? She was faced at so many choices as she examined the scene-appearing girl. How would she dispose if her? She wasn't sure, but she knew she was at least going to take part of the girl apart. She had to, she needed to taste her flesh....
This is a teaser for a SSS (short story series) that I'm righting about my character Jane the killer. The first one will be called 'slash' I'm not sure when the first one will be out, but this will hold you over till then. Now if you don't excuse me, Jane and her new enemy are trying to kill each other....
