Browsing through dog books

Nick was at the library with Brownie, picking out six different books about dogs. He got out a camera from his bag and quickly took a picture of a page in one of the books, before anyone would see the flash. He put the camera back in his bag, laying the books on top of another book at a table. Nick thought the book was just from some uncareful camper who laid it there, but it was actually James'. Nick then went to find some bunny books, although the color of yellow on a bunny wasn't very common - actually, as far as he knew, Ally was the only naturally-yellow bunny.

James walked in, looking for a book that was read to him a long time ago. He had set on a table... somewhere. Confused he looked at the tables to try to find it.

Nick saw the older boy and said, "Um....hello?" Nick walked over. "Are you looking for something?" He asked, politely.

He looked at the kid. Hey, yeah. Just a book I left here." he said shyly. "You haven't seen it have you? It was on one of these tables..." He started to look again.

Nick lifted his book off his table and accidentally took James' book. Nick nodded no. "I'm sorry, all of these tables are clean."

"Where in Hades did it go?" He noticed he was being rude. "Sorry. My names James. My friends call me Jem." He holds out his hand.

Nick shook his hand. "I'm not sure. Did you take it anywhere?" He dropped his books. "Oh, sorry." He bent down to pick them up.

"Its alright. No i remember leaving it here..." He bent down to help pick up the books and noticed the one he was looking for. "Aha. found it!"

"Hm, oh geez-----I'm sorry."

"Whatever, man. Its okay. What's your name anyway?"

"Nicholas Hoover, son of Hestia. What's yours, if you mind telling me?"

'James Carter, son of Hephaestus."

"Nice. So, Mr. James Carter, do you like animals?"

He hesitated. "Not really. We used to have horses where i lived. I nearly got trampled trying to ride one. Other than that i wasn't allowed pets."

"Oh, I'm sorry. We could get you a pet."

"Thanks, man. But I'm good. I like to work in the forge too much to have time for a pet."

"Oh, yeah, I forgot Hephaestus kids loved forging." Nick decided not to tell him about Mason or Austin yet.

He shrugs and starts flipping through the book.

"So, you're a fan of forging, huh? Can you build weapons?"

"Yeah. I don't build weapons often but i can."

"That is nice. Well, now, I suppose I should be telling you about my self?"

He smiled a little. "Yeah. Sure."

"I'm twelve. My father is a person who travels all over the world solving crimes. What are they called again? Anyway, my favorite animal are dogs. My two very best friends - well, one I haven't seen in a while - and,well, the other one....had many problems....and in the operation to fix them....she....'fell asleep'. So, anyway.......I am a former Hestia cabin leader, but Chiron thought I was too young and took my position. The new cabin leader started to train me for when I was older and took his position, but I haven't seen him, either. I have met my mother very many times in Olympus. I have a dog named Brownie, and a yellow - yes, naturally yellow - bunny named Ally. I love hot tea and books. As you can see, I have glasses. My favorite color is orange.....that's about it."

"Your dad's a crime traveler? Cool." I wish I knew who my mom was...

"I guess, but I never get to see him. What about your mother? Do you know her?"
