Anna strolled through her cohort's barracks, wondering what she should do. She had done pretty much everything there was to do here at camp, and to tell the truth, she was getting pretty bored. She had even done a lot of things outside of camp and around San Francisco and she still got bored. She started to thinking about different things to do, but when she realized she had done most of them, she sighed, dismissed the thought and plopped down on her bunk.

James's day was already crap. First of all, he hadn't gotten any sleep. A Mercury kid had put itching powder on his bunk. The kid tried to explain it was meant for someone else, but it was hard to hear him over the roar of the Little Tiber. Next the bath house was extremely full. It must of been family day or something. It drove him mad. Every few seconds he was getting shoved around, bouncing off walls and other people. He left quickly.

James eventually found his way to field of Mars. It was nice and quiet away from people. And then Hannibal showed up. It's not like James doesn't like Hannibal or anything. Hannibal just takes up too much space. Frustrated, James decided to retire to the barracks.

The inside of the Third Cohorts barracks was basically empty. One camper was occupying her bunk but that was it. James walked over to his bunk. He reached the bunk, stuck his sword into the bedpost, then laid down. Maybe he could fall asleep.

As Anna was just about to pull out a book she had read just about a million times, a boy she had never seen walked into the barracks. She looked at him and gave him a small wave before returning to her book. It was a mystery, and due to the fact that she had read it before, it was horrible. She tuned to the boy a few bunks away. "This book is horrible. I'm Anna. Want to do something?" She asked boredly, tossing the book into her suitcase.

James was pretty sure there was still itching powder in his bunk. He washed the dang thing twice yet he still felt the need to scratch himself. He sat up with grunt. This sucked. When that Mercury spawn returned, James would have to throw him back in the Little Tiber. Maybe this time in a sack filled with angry weasels.

Since he couldn't get any sleep, he didn't know what to do. To his surprise, the girl talked to him. She said her name was Anna and asked if he wanted to do anything. He blinked a couple of times. Most people don't usually ask him to do stuff. This was new.

"Uh," He hesitated. James didn't know whether or not to trust this girl's invite. Usually when people invited him to do something, they pulled a prank on him. He did not like being pranked. However, his boredom came back into play. "Um, sure. I'm James." He knew the face of Anna, she was in his cohort after all. But he really didn't know her. Maybe, if he could be nice, he could possibly learn more about her.

As the book landed in the suitcase she thought, Wow. Light book. then said aloud "Great. Where do you want to go?" She asked across the room. She knew the face of the boy she had spoken to, but wasn't sure what his name was. "What's your name?" She asked.

Anna seemed nice enough. She was alright with just going somewhere with some she just met. Apparently, she didn't hear him the first time. "The name's James." Funny wording there. He shrugged, "I don't know, I don't really care." Something about this girl made him want to be nice. Maybe he just needed another friend in the Third Cohort.
