Casey Moore - Ares Empty Casey Moore - Ares

Post by daddeme 11/11/2014, 1:35 pm

    Casey L. Moore

    17

    Appreciated

    Ares

    4 Years

    Tajiki

    Camp Half-Blood

    ~Kindness~

Name: He doesn’t know how his mother found his name fit. Casey Leonardo Moore. The Casey and Leonardo parts may have derived from his “uncle’s” obsession with the Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles. Casey was the epic troublemaker with a hockey mask and martial arts skills, Leonardo was the fearless reptilian leader. He personally feels indifferent about his name, and prefers to just be called Casey.

“I was about to ask DJ about my name and why Nana jo thought it was a good idea. Then I remembered that his name was Donatello.”
    Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual; Casey has always been attracted to females, though he's never had a girlfriend.
    Mortal Parent:
    Taryn Moore:
Taryn Moore (“Nana jo” if Casey is talking about her), a woman of 41 years of age. She had her first child at the age of fifteen when she was married off to a semi-rich man in Pakistan. At the age of seventeen, because she sought her education and free thought, she fled from her marriage and husband with her child along with some of the money from her husband. She changed her last name from Montazeri to Moore, enrolled in school, and bought a home for her to settle down in. A bit later at the new age of twenty-four. she fell in love with a man and gave birth to a second child, a harami since she was not married to this man. He disappeared, and grief overcame her until she was unable to tend for her children properly.
    Legal Guardian:
    DJ Moore:
Donatello “DJ” or “Donnie” Moore is Casey’s 26-year-old brother, born as Dhakir Jariya  to Izz Al-Din and Taryn Montazeri. He was next to inherit the fortune until his mother fled the country. As he aged and grew, he became very protective and responsible over his family; he never forgave his mother’s lover after leaving her grieved. So he helped take care of his brother by working many different jobs at once, and, at the age of 18, he adopted him.
“DJ is an idiot, but he’s my brother. So it’s only okay if I call him an idiot.”
God Parent: Ares, God of War, Violence, Battlelust, and Rage.
Date of Birth: December 10 (17 years)
Place of Birth: Casey was born in a public hospital in Reno, Nevada.
Hometown/Last Residence: Casey lived in a cheap apartment also located in Reno, Nevada. He lived with his older brother and his mother.
Race/ethnicity: Casey is of Tajiki descent from his mother’s side, though his great-grandfather was German. On his father’s side, he is partially Greek god. Born in America, Casey is American in ethnicity.
Accent: Casey has no heavy accent; his short “a”’s are heavily enunciated and that’s about all. He will occasionally switch into his mother’s Herati/Pakistani accent without noticing when he is speaking very fast.
    “I don’t talk funny. Do I? I didn’t notice.”
Skin Tone: Casey has a paleish brown skin tone, like that of a light tan.
    Eye Color: Pale blueish green
Hair Color: Casey’s hair is a deep lustrous onyx color like the stone.
Hair Length: The longest Casey’s allowed his hair to grow is five inches, due to it curling more and more the longer it gets. He tries to keep it three inches in the front and partial middle and an inch and a half around the sides and back.
    Height: 6’1”
    Weight: 180lbs
Body Type: Mesomorph; rectangular shaped body; easily gains weight and muscle.
    Appearance:
Appearance wise, Casey doesn't look very approachable. He looks like your typical big Ares kid with leather and weapons. The only thing is that he doesn't sneer like the rest of his siblings. He smiles a lot more than they do, and somehow manages to lighten their moods. He carries himself in a confident-but-humble way, as if he doesn't like the attention drawn to him.
“I look like an emo superhero. Like, I’ll save you and listen to Fall Out Boy.”
Weapon: Okay, so Casey happens to have a crap-ton of weapons. Sue him.
CB throwin’ axe- This is one of Casey's go-to weapons since - because of it's lightness in weight - it is the easiest to call upon in a time of need. He fights a lot with the axe because of this.
CB kama-  This one is Casey's favorite. He loves the kama because it looks cool, has great accuracy when he's welding it, and is the second-to-easiest to call on. He passively calls the weapon "jo" when referring to it (it means "dear"), but an actual name is not likely to be chosen.
CB Ottoman quama- This sword was given to him by his "uncle" and his not often used, though is on display above his bunk in his cabin. It also has no name.
Steel Kopis- The kopis is an heirloom given to Casey by DJ on one of his visits in the early years. It, too, is nameless,
Steel Yataghan- This one is a gift given to DJ from Casey. DJ doesn't accept any gifts, so technically the yataghan is still Casey's.
Armor: As for armor, Casey wears the usual gear the camp issues out complete with a Trojan war helmet with a red plume, a bronze cuirass with matching grieves, and slightly-damaged (not his fault at all) vambraces.
Pet(s): Casey currently has no pets. Hint. Foreshadow. Hint.
Skills/Talents: Casey knows a fair amount of his mother's language of Herati Farsi, enough to work as a translator when needed, to this could be counted as a talent. Casey is a very skilled warrior because of both his father and his refusal to back down in a fight until he gets what he wants. Casey is relatable and adapts quickly to situations.
    Flaws:
Emotionally disturbed- Casey gets very emotional over teasing and taunting and tends to lash out physically with violence. His violence comes from the pent up anger from living with his mother all of those years.
Bipolar- Because Casey's emotionally disturbed, he gets ticked off fairly easily. If you say his trigger word, he'll flip into a completely different person. BUUUT if you say the right thing, he returns to is adorable happy-go-lucky self.
Disorganized- Casey loses everything, like, if it wasn't for his friends then he would probably be lost himself. He's the most disorganized person you know.
Talks to himself- Minor flaw; Before Casey flips out, he attempts to talk to himself to calm down his anger.
Occasionally jittery/timid- He's always waiting for someone to make him snap. Because he's afraid of the damage he may cause, Casey begins to get nervous.
Physical- The bottom row of Casey's teeth are all crooked in the front, the two front ones overlapping each other. He never really sleeps as much as he should, so it isn't unusual to see dark circles/bags beneath his eyes. Casey's ears are commonly noted as much people say that they are larger than usual in size.
Strengths: Communicating, weapon handling, decision making, critical thinking, working with animals, military science.
Weaknesses: Controlling his temper, keeping secrets, sticking to the plan, lambs. Lambs are so cute.
Likes: Sheep and other animals, music, peanut butter sandwiches, Vine, comic books, watching people spar, exploring, going into the city, helping people, movies, warmth, journalism, and cheesy jokes.
Dislikes: Vegans, seeing others hurt, crying/seeing tears, liars, wide-ruled paper (he can't), being called a harami, and matching socks.
Fears: Casey is afraid of mainly three things: deep water, heights, and Santa Claus.
Personality: Casey is the nicest person you've ever met. He si always willing to help someone out whether it be a good deed or a bad one. He always greets with a smile and his favorite thing in the world is seeing someone happy in return. When Casey is angry, however, it never has a good outcome. He first felt pure heated anger when he was thirteen, so he has very little experience with it. Each blow up could be hazardous, and even fatal.
Powers: Telumkinesis- Casey can call upon one of his weapons depending on his emotions. His "rage" triggers this power and often helps him control himself. His weapon must be in a two-mile radius, and the less angry he is or heavier the weapon, the harder it is to call on. It drains about 60% of his energy when he's not too angry, and progressively drains lesser as he gets more and more angry. He must rest at least 15 hours before the weapon can be summoned once again.
”I was kinda hoping for a power with a little more...wham-o, y’know? I wanted to be able to yell “FLAME-ON!” or something of the sort.”
Social Status: Casey’s actually pretty well-known around camp. He’s not exactly popular, but he is well-liked considering he always likes to lend a helping hand. Casey belongs to the Fairly Appreciated group at camp.
Summer or Year Rounder: Casey flip-flops, meaning that he is a year rounder every other summer. The reason is so that he can work on his anger/emotional issues.
Years at Camp: Casey has been at camp since he was thirteen years old. This makes him a 4-year camper.
    Life Before Camp:
From birth, Casey wasn't wanted but kept anyway. Ares left his mother disguised as a soldier heading to war when she was six months pregnant. He even manipulated the Mist to send in satyrs - oops, "soldiers" - saying that he died in war a week before Casey was born. Taryn was stricken with grief, and even the birth of her second son was shadowed by the death of the father. Not only was her son a harami for not being born from marriage, but now there was no hope to become a family.
Taryn distanced herself away from her boys often, only coming out of her room to feed them in the evenings and quickly receding back to her haven to eat. DJ became responsible for his brother between going back and forth from elementary school. Everyday he would come home, clean him, feed him, and take care of him in general until he was old enough to take care of himself.
When Casey turned five, he began going to Kindergarten. The teachers monitored him during learning, nap, and recess, and became concerned - Casey wouldn't speak up to answer a question, nor did he speak to the other children. His academics were excellent, however his communication was nonexistent. A letter was sent home to his parent requesting a conference. Taryn did not show.
At seven, Casey was adopted by an 18-year-old DJ. He was also present in the car crash three days later, when Nana lost use of her legs as well as her mind. The accident was bad: the driver of the opposite vehicle was in a critical condition while his passenger was dead, Nana's legs were pinning beneath the steering wheel as she mumbled words in Farsi that didn't make any sense, and DJ lay with a gash on his neck, motionless and unconscious. Casey was the only one that was awake enough to search on the glass coated floor for DJ's dropped cellphone. The glass cut his hands, but he pressed the numbers 9-1-1 like how his school told him to is something went wrong.
"My Nana jo is hurt. We're in a car and there was an accident. My big brother is bleeding."
At the hospital, the doctors were very kind. Casey was cleaned up, poked at, and allowed to play in the kid area after the doctors decided that he "survived without injury by a miracle". DJ was held in a coma-state. Taryn was undergoing the surgery that would deem her paraplegic and suffering with acute psychotic depression. Casey was then sent to a temporarily into the Foster Care system. Luckily, the family was nice and treated Casey with care until DJ woke back up. He didn't even have to switch schools - the youngest child was in the same grade as he was. In this home, Casey learned that it was okay to speak out, to show how he was feeling. He could ask for peanut butter sandwiches, and his foster mother would make them. They went to the petting zoo every once and a while and let Casey feed the sheep. Casey visited DJ once a week in the hospital, but otherwise forgot that the Lewis family wasn't really his family.
A year passed, and DJ awoke from his coma. Both he and Nana were released (Nana being monitored with weekly hospital visits and counseling) and Casey left his foster home to continue living with his brother.
DJ never moved out of Nana's home in fear her diagnosis  would cloud her thoughts, so the boys stayed and took care of her. This also meant that they were apart of, and the subjects of, her fits of rage DJ called a jinn possession, of a "bad spirit" possession. The jinn didn't attack often, but when they did it was horrendous...yet over quick.
Casey met his first satyr when he was 13, but the Mist the protector had layered upon himself altered everything. It made Casey, and his family, believe that he had been a family friend (often called an uncle), neighbor, and teacher at Casey's school for all of Casey's life. He watched over Casey for a few months, then took him away from a school field trip to a farm when the Calydonian boar made a guest appearance.
"Mr. Hawthorn" was a chaperon for the Darrell C. Swope middle school end-of-the-year, and luckily he was. His assigned group included Casey, two sisters, a brawny boy named Todd, and another skittish girl that everyone steered clear of. The group branched off, as did the others, to explore the farm. Ironically, the attack happened near the pig pen, where the farmer's wife, Patience Carle, smiled and gave them cider and talked about her pigs like they were her children.
"That on over there's name is Mortar. You know the story of the Three Little Pigs? Remember the smartest one that built her hoome out of bricks? Mortar here is the smartest little piggy you've ever seen. He's a cutie."
Casey like the pigs and all. It was cool how they waddled around snorting and ate up everything, like giant babies. However, Casey was ready to leave them to snuggle up with the sheep. He really loved sheep.
"Why don't you tell the kids the purpose of having them here, Mrs. Carle?" Mr. Hawthorn spoke up, bitterness festering beneath the surface of his words. Mr. Hawthorn was a vegetarian: Casey knew that much from the vegetarian lasagna he sometimes brought over for the Moore family.
Mrs. Carle look shocked, as if awaking from a daze, then smiled a tight smile in Mr. Hawthorn's direction. She didn't look away.
"Oh dear, this is always the difficult part..." Mrs. Carle explained. The children were all herded within the pen, locked with a combination only the Carle's knew, in order to keep their pigs from getting Carrie'd or escaping on their own. Mr. Hawthorn placed a hand on Casey's shoulder protectively, but Casey still just wanted to see the sheep. "We feed them, bathe them, care for them until they are big and and healthy and strong. Then we...we kill them. And my family usually eats them or sells them."
The children all gasped in horror. Some grew nauseous, like the skittish girl and one of the sisters. The other sister began to cry, Todd began yelling. The only child that remained silent and still was Casey. The killing and eating was expected - this was a farm. But Mrs. Carle talked about the pigs as her children and betrayed them...like how his mother continuously treated him, not to mention the lies. And Casey doesn't like liars. He wore a mancing scowl on his young face, one that he never used before. He was more concerned about the sheep than the pigs but still.
Mr. Hawthorn's nose twitched in the corner of Casey's vision, then Mrs. Carle yelling for Mortar, then a high pitched REEEEET! Mortar, the big smart one in the middle of the pen, now had his beady little eyes set on Casey. Was he scared? No. He was just angry. So when the boar charged, so did her with only his bare fists.
And he was yanked aside by Mr. Hawthorn, slung over the short wooden fence with the rest of the children. His head hit the ground hard, and all he remembered before his vision faded to black was the sound of a woman screaming, some type of flute or something, and a pig shriek.
He didn't know when they'd lost the skittish girl, but Casey doesn't remember walking with her through the borders of camp. He'd made it to the "camp" that Mr. Hawthorn had been speaking nonstop about with his newly acquired quama. He wasn't there to witness all of the events, but he had witnessed the important stuff (Thalia changing from tree to human, a cyclops at camp, forbidden children of the Big 3, the good stuff). He fought in his fair share of wars at camp. Now as things unwind, he's hoping that he can just sit back and catch his breath for a moment.
    Role-playing Example:
Nights like this one always made Casey remember the finer things in life. He sat next to DJ on the dusty old couch holding an icepack to his left temple. Nana was angry again tonight, the jinn possessed her and made her remember that she couldn't walk and she was alone. Nana started crying and shouting and cursing. She threw things at Casey, and called him harami, then she cursed DJ for forcing her to leave her life of luxury to live amongst swine in their shabby home in this terrible neighborhood. One thing thrown at Casey, a family portrait taken before the Hijri New Year two days ago, cracked upon contact with his head and made him cry and bleed. Then DJ tried to help stop the blood with a rag, which resulted in more curses and objects thrown his way.
Now the jinn left Nana as it always did, and the brothers' mother had her wheelchair parked at the bar in the kitchen while she grumbled at the television in Herati Farsi. Casey offered the icepack to DJ, who rejected it almost immediately.
"No, I'm fine, Casey." He told him sternly. DJ had a slit on his on his lip that was weeping the blood of which he swabbed with his ragged shirt sleeve. (Nana got him with a book about a three goats and a wolf). Casey sighed and sneaked up the stairs to his room. Maybe some reading of the Qu'ran would help ease his fears. The 12-year-old quietly closed his bedroom door, hoping not to draw attention to himself, and tiptoed to the mattress of his frameless bed. His hand felt around the few inches of space between the mattress and the wall for the old, crinkly, and thick Holy Book given to him by Imam Amjad at school. He was never allowed to partake in individual reading because Nana believed his curiosity would lead to the jinn returning to her again. But Casey didn't believe in that. Nana's jinn came from her own bitter heart.
"So I thought to myself...She doesn't understand." He whispered as he flipped open to his marked surah. "She can't be nice any more. DJ can't be nice anymore. I have to be nice for both of them..."
    And that thought was good.

[If possible, could you please make the font slightly bigger? It's a little hard for me to read -- it may be the type of font and spacing, though.]

Did you put in a physical flaw (one that affects his overall appearance) somewhere, or did I accidentally miss it?

    Powers:
    - Can he only call one weapon at a time, or several?
    - What's the cool-down between weapon summons?
