The Deadly Forest

Zach noticed a girl enter his perspective and watched her from his vantage point. She was attractive, he would give her tha, wearing a yellow shirt that was nearly fluorescent, and jeans shorts that showed her thighs. Walking over to her, he cleared his throat to alert her of his presence. "Hello" he greeted her and moved his notepad from under his arm to his hands, ticking his pencil behind his ear besides his glasses. "I'm Zachary"

I looked up from my notepad, smiled, and said, "Hi, Im Maia." I liked his shirt, Pac-Man was a great game, but the newer ones are better. And he did look pretty good... With his messy hair, glasses, and... Oh gods... Im becoming like the Aphrodite children

"Nice to meet you Maia" Zach replied and glanced besides her "may I sit?" He asked, a little of his Scottish showing through his voice, as we'll as a little of the south, from where his home was now. He noted the pad that this girl had, wondering in what ranges of the artistic spectrum she preferred. Zach himself, preferred the engineering with a side of comix and manga, maybe a little tattoo art.

I say, "Sure, you can sit." I noticed his notepad and asked, "You draw?"

"Indeed. You?" Zach asked as he sat down besides her and opened his notepad to show a half drawn gothic blueprint of a cathedral. Taking the pencil from behind his ear he began to sketch along the lines of one of the windows, including shading to the arched eyes of the sides of his design, continuing to improve along the windows, then towards the doors. "What do you like to draw?"

I say, "I usually draw nature, people, and whatever comes to mind. I also paint, sculpt, and do some other things." I looked at his drawing and said, "Nice drawing."

Zach paused and smiled "thanks, here's a nature one..." Zach turned a few pages in his notebook to a accurate and detailed drawing of a river bank, flanked by detailed and neatly labeled trees, everything so accurate and labeled, although in black and white the love of nature could be seen by the graphite marks on the paper.

I looked at it, amazed. I said, "Thank you. This is amazing. It might actually be better than my drawings. Where was this?"

"My home, in Virginia. Well, my true home. My parents live in California now but I stay with my uncle and grandparents in Virginia. Maybe some time we could go, it's quite a lovely place. Small river, peaceful clearing and a nice place to fish, kayak....I've spent most of my life by that very river" Zach explained as he traced over his art as if it were a portal to the real thing

I say, "You miss your home, don't you?"

"Yeah. I only go once and a while, most of my time is here...safe for demigods and all. However, virginia is relatively close, so I usually take a train on a Friday come back on a Monday, if I need to." Zach paused as he looked back to the other girl with his brown/green eyes "where's your home?"

I say, "New York. So I tend to visit my mom as much as possible."

"Ah, the big apple! A lovely place, such...life. Personally I don't like the big city rush and traffic, but the construction in the skyscrapers and the overall transit system of New York; manhattan mostly, is phenomenal!" Zach grinned as he ran his hand over the pages of his pad, flipping through the dozens of filled pages, and the dozens of empty ones as well.

"Athena, and you?" He grinned

BIC: I say, "Athena is cool. My dad is Apollo."

"Nice! That's really cool!"

I say, "Thanks. I have a lot of siblings, so it never gets boring. Except most of them never see me."

Zach smiled "well, your a great girl! I would hang with you more"

I say, "That would be nice. If Im not here Im usually at the arts and crafts area."

Well this is where I usually am. Art, you know?" Zach chuckled

I say, "I usually paint from whatever I have seen in the past. Earlier I was painting a camellia flower. But I had to scrap it because I spilled some paint on it when I reached up to get more paint, but it fell and went everywhere."

"I always keep extra paint if you need any"

I say, "Thank you. But I shouldn't need any for another month. Unless I forget to close the cans and it dries like the ones before them."

"That always is horrible! I use lead, we'll, ghraphite pencils"
