Leila's bare toes wiggled in the warm sand when she set foot onto the beach, immediately relishing in the bright sunlight and the calm sound of waves lapping against the shore. She squealed excitedly like a child and scouted the area for the perfect area. There. The spot was a good ten feet away from the water where half the sand was moist with sea water and half of it was still perfectly dry to the touch. She ran over there and nestled herself comfortably with her towel (in case she decided to go into the water) and her book (in case she got bored) next to her along with her bucket and shovel. The daughter of Epione tied her dark and messy hair up into a ponytail and rolled the sleeves of her white cardigan up with her eyebrows furrowed in determination. She was going to make the best sand castle ever in the history of sand castles and nobody would ever compete her goal of first place in her imaginary contest.

Will was walking along the shoreline, trying to think of something to do. He could always sing, or play musical instruments, or do something relating to his godly parents, but those options did not appeal to him as of late. His hands were behind his head as he walked, feet squishing into the moist sand and leaving marks. There was a girl in the distance, or maybe just some person. "Dirty glasses are never good," he thought as he whipped them off and started to rub at the lenses. Once the son of Apollo thought they were right clean and he could actually see through them, he put them on in a rather silly fashion and peered at the figure in the distance.
He was right, it was a girl! A girl with piles of sand around her and a determined look on her face. Maybe this was the thing he should do today. Will walked up to her, feet covered in sand. "What're you doing? Can I join?"

Leila looked up and instantly looked back down as she blinked furiously from being blinded by the sun. Once her vision of dark spots cleared, she glanced back up with a hand over her eyes to block the light away from it. It was a boy and the boy spoke, asking if he could join. Hmm, that was certainly a question. She thought about it for a moment before throwing on a carefree smile with a shrug, "Sure! The more the merrier, right? Besides, maybe even with your help, we can build a bigger sand castle than I could on my own."
She started drawing in the sand with a stray stick she had found- thinking of what it could look like and how they would make it. She dropped her stick abruptly and held out her hand. "I'm Leila by the way. Nice to meet you! What's your name?"

Will immediately started fooling around with the moistness of the sand. It had to be perfect, or else it would crumble along with his dreams of creating the perfect sand castle. He did notice her drawing though, and thought it was very pretty. "I'm Will; it's nice to meet you too!" he chirped. Happy fun times made him feel warm inside, which was normal since he was a son of Apollo and all. Warm fuzzy feelings like this though were lacking in commonness. "You're really good at drawing, you know?"
Every once in a while, Will wished he was good at artsy things, but every time he tried he failed miserably. Nowadays, he just took it as that art was not his talent. He had one, but it would take a bit longer to find it.

"Thanks!" Leila beamed at Will with another smile. Truth be told she thought that her artistic skills were average bordering below average but she was glad to hear that he thought she wasn't as bad as she presumed. She considered her singing better than her crappy drawings but then again, it wasn't like she was a daughter of Apollo or anything. Now those were some kids who could sing. She ditched the stick and trying to plan out how to make the sand castle and just started making it. Whatever it was. She formed lumps of moist sand together and started carving it down into actually shapes with slender fingers.
"So who's your godly parent?" Leila asked curiously. She thought he might be a Hestia or Apollo kid since he seemed so warm and friendly. It was nice to find someone so easy going in a camp full of teenagers and their angst.

He watched her give up the stick and just decide to go ahead with the creation of their castle, and he followed suit. Trying to make the perfect ratio for water and sand would be kinda pointless considering the water would evaporate anyways. Will plopped a lump of sand down and started squishing parts of it down, making a separate turret than Leila's. Maybe he could start on one end, she could start on the other, and they could just build up to each other?
"My dad? He's Apollo, pretty cool if I say so myself," he said while forming a small tower with a window on it. "What about you?"

"Apollo? Wow that is pretty cool but I've heard from some other campers that your dad is actually pretty hot so..." Leila trailed off with a laugh. Oh gods someone needed to stop her from making such horrible puns. She noticed how he was making a turret parallel to her own and got the idea of what he might've been thinking. Connect it together when they were finished with their own little buildings. Or at least thats what she thought he was thinking. She'd never been really good on reading people's thoughts. Only emotion.
She pushed back a strand of hair that had fallen in her face behind her ear and glanced up at the boy before talking. "My mom's Epione. Not part of the big twelve but I think she's awesome in her own way."

"Epione? Eeeeepione..." The boy scrunched up his face, trying to remember the minor goddess. A small moments passed and the quickly drying sand was beginning to crumble in his hands. "Oh! Epione! Yeah, that's pretty cool too." He nodded, as if reaffirming the coolness of it, and continued building up his side. Will wasn't all that good a maintaining conversation, to be frank. He was good at simple small talk and not so much after that.

Leila hummed her agreement, focusing on the task at hand. The girl wasn't a wonderful artist but she had always been good with her hands whether that was to hold a dying patient's hand or shaping a castle out of sand. Her hands were were slightly damp from the sand after packing it up onto the sides of even more damp sand although it dried quick enough. Once she finished the base of it, she carved in tiny little details with the tip of pinky. Little squiggles that indicated the bricks and windows and she found a tiny little twig that she put onto the top of one of the towers. Like a little flag, she mused to herself. She glanced over at Will's side as he continued to build. "So do you spend a lot of time at the beach?"
