Layla's bunk

He raised an eyebrow at her, a bit confused. "I see. Well how about this. I'll stay, but I won't say anything."

"Okay. Sounds good"I nodded in agreement and sighed

He smiled a bit and took a seat on one of the beanbag chairs in the corner. Derek looked at the warm welcoming fire and smiled.

I sat staring at my blanket for a few minutes before sighing again. "Do you want me to turn the heat up?"I asked shyly

"No. It's perfect. Thank you though." He looked over his shoulder at her, smiling at her. He then turned his attention back to the hearth.

I nodded and turned my attention back to my blanket."How old are you?"I asked suddenly

"I am seventeen years old. How about you?" He asked her, turning his body to look at her completely.

"Uh... I-it's a l-long story"I stammered awkwardly

"How is it a long story? It's your age..." He asked with a raised eye brow.

"It just is! Simple things such as age are not simple for some people"I mumbled and blushed

"Well do you not know how old you are???" He asked her, crossing his arms

"I - yes, kinda"I replied shyly and looked down again

Derek got up from the bean bag chair and sat on Layla's bunk. "Why do you always seem so nervous?"

I wanted to roll my eyes but that wasn't acceptable for a lady."Because you m-make me"

"If I make you nervous than why have me here in the first place?" He asked in a slight giggle

"Because... Y-you're nice to me. A-and friendly. And you don't scare me. Which is scary. A-and you shouldn't b-be here but you are. A-and I let you. W-which is also scary."I blurted out

Derek raised an eyebrow, shaking his head a bit. "Well I'll just stay here like I said before and be quiet." The son of Demeter smiled at her warmly.

"Why do you have to be so nice?"I muttered under my breathe and huffed

Derek shrugged his shoulders. "I guess I was born this way." He said with a chuckle.

I blushed and threw a pillow at him."Don't eavesdrop on private conversations of others it"s rude!"I exclaimed

He laughed more and threw a pillow back at her. "Well maybe next time you can say it in her red head of yours."

I gasped."How dare you speak like that to a lady! I should have you hanged!"

Derek's smile slowly disappeared as he looked at her. "Is that some type of racist joke?" He asked, crossing his arms.

"What?! Of course not! I'm a proper lady! It's just something my father used to say to all those bad people who insulted us... He never let us watch though"I added quickly, not wanting to make my father sound bad

He narrowed his eyes and turned away from her, getting in his grumpy mood again.
