Looking for answers

The boy looked around wondering who he should talk to. "Hello? Is anybody here? I was told I should go here to learn more about this place. Where am I? Where's my dad?"

Chiron heard shouts in the entrance of the Big House and rolled out of his office in his wheelchair. It took him a moment to arrive -- a boy in his mid-teens stood there, maybe fourteen, fifteen, with tanned skin and dark hair.

"Hello," he smiled, "I'm Chiron. Welcome to Camp Half-Blood, come along, I will explain everything to you. What's your name?"

"S- Sebastian. Sebastian Rivera. Why am I here?" He could barely get the words out of his mouth.

"To train, to learn how to survive," Chiron replied, leading him through a couple of corridors to a small movie room. "Now. I will show you the short movie we show to every new person, once it is done, you can ask me as many questions as you want."

He put the DVD in and let the movie begin. It explained in a step-by-step way how the Greek gods still existed, kept having children and followed civilization.

"Mount Olympus is currently located directly over the Empire States Building," the movies off-voice said, showing the skyscraper as well as a glimpse of the marble and gold palaces on the clouds above it.

The movie then went on to talk about Camp Half-Blood, the cabins, the activities, etc.

"So," He began as soon as the movie was over. "what you're telling me is that everything that was chasing me while I got here was some sort of Greek monster? Cool. And scary. But cool. So, who's my god mother?" He said while looking around the room.

"You will be claimed soon. How old are you, around fifteen? The gods have recently agreed to claim their offsprings once they reach the age of thirteen. It should happen this week normally."

"I'm fourteen. And, I think I was claimed before I got here. Or, the moment I did get here. It's a little fuzzy."

"Claimed?" Chiron asked. Demigods were claimed at Camp Half-Blood; only Athena claimed her children at birth. "What did the claiming look like?"

"Well, I was reaching camp, when a Cyclops or something came out of nowhere and killed the satyr that was taking me here. I managed to escape when I realized I didn't know where to go. Suddenly, this thing appeared over my head. All I remember was that it was calming. Pretty soon I'm at camp."

"Can you describe the thing to me please? What did it look like?"

It wasn't among the god's customs to claim a child outside of Camp Half-Blood, where nobody could see and recognize the symbol.

"No, sorry. Maybe if you show me a bunch of pictures I could single one out?"

Chiron looked up at the ceiling like, great job, guys. Whoever it was, they should get better organization.

"We don't have pictures of claimings here," he said. "But can you remember which color it had? What shape?"

"Sorry. All I know is that when my mind becomes fuzzy the only way I can identify something from a memory is seeing it. Maybe it was just a figment of my imagination though. I tend to have random thoughts. Who knows, maybe it was just my mind and I'll get claimed soon."

"I don't think so. Claimings come in many forms but most of the time, a hologram appears over your head. Sadly we don't have any pictures here, as said, but I can try to draw you a couple of symbols, see what they mean to you."

"Thanks. That would help a lot"

Chiron started out drawing a lightning bolt, a trident, a skull -- who knows, perhaps there are still children of the Big Three out there. Giving the paper to Sebastian, he went on drawing the symbols of the other Olympian gods, excluding Artemis and Hera.

He put down the paper and shook his head. He waited patiently for Chiron to finish with the other drawings.

Chiron showed him the other sketches. Lyre, spear, dove, caduceus, all the symbols of the Twelve Olympians. He really hoped it was one of them, if they were about to do minor gods, he'd still be at this desk for the next few weeks.

"No, sorry. I don't recognize any of these. If it helps, when I was a kid I would get dreams of this house like building that was made out of black stones or something. And there were these two torches or fire that were calling me to enter the building. I never did though because every time I was about to enter I woke up."

"Two torches?" Chiron asked before sketching a hologram of two crossed torches, the symbol of Hecate. "Something like this?"

Normally, Demeter also carried torches, but she didn't live in a house of black stones.

"YEAH! That's the one. I know it."

"Well then, you are a son of Hecate," Chiron replied. "I will introduce you to your siblings in a few moments. Do you want to eat anything before? You must be starving."

"No. Actually, I just came here to know some stuff. I can look around by myself, but thanks for the help."

"Good. We have dinner in a couple of hours, then a sing-along session in the Amphitheater, be on time for both."

With that, Chiron opened the door, let him walk out and rolled behind him.
