Sitting on a Thumb

Derek sat there on the top of Zeus' fist, staring off into clouds, thinking about his life at camp. He had a lot to be thankful for, but today, at this moment, he fort a bit depressed. He couldn't decided whether or not it was because it was winter or because it was just one of those days. The son of Demeter exhaled and looked down at the stone rock that underneath him. Clearing his throat, Derek tugged on the ends of his brown sweater and sighed.

"...llo? Anyone around? I'm sort of lost. Actually, scratch that I'm totally lost."

Derek heard a voice from below, preering over the edge of the stone mound. "Do you need help or something?" He asked the boy.

"No my favorite hobby is screaming about how lost I am. Sebastian. Hecate. Nice to meetcha." he grinned and started climbing the fist

Great Hera another crazy one. He thought to himself as rolled his eyes and moved to the side to give the demigod enough room. "I'm Derek, son of Demeter." He introduced as he crossed his legs, looking down as he watched the Sebastian climb up the rock.

"So, what do campers call this rock? I'm assuming it has hand of fist in the name. It looks like one at least." this place was weird.

The demigod shrugged and leaned back on his hands as he looked off into the distance. "Uh, it's called Zeus' Thumb." He answered him, clearing his throat.

"Eh, close. Why build it? It's not like the guy needs a bigger ego." he knew enough to know that was true

Derek's eyes grew in size, scooting over away from Sebastion. He knew that his uncle Zeus, if he is even allowed to call him that, didn't tolerate disrespect. "I think it's pretty good." He shrugged, glancing up at the sky, then back at the son of Hecate.

"Yeah, it is pretty cool. Funny name, but cool. So what are you doing out here besides tanning on a giant thumb?"

He gave Sebastion an raised eyebrow. "Tanning? Why in the world would I be tanning?" Derek asked the younger boy, looking over his own hot chocolate complexion. "Do I look like I need a tan?"

"You're sitting on a rock that's in direct sunlight. Sounds like tanning to me." In Puerto Rico most people just sat at their balcony if they wanted to tan, so it seemed like the thing Derek would be doing at the moment. It's nice out so it's likely people would be trying to relax in the sunlight.

Derek took in a deep breath and waved a hand behind him, growing a plant with large leaves. The leaves provided him with enough shade from the warm rays of sun. "There see? I'm not tanning anymore."

"Well now you aren't." he said sarcastically "Cool trick by the way."

Derek smirked and smiled a bit. "Thanks, I guess." He looked over at Seb. "But I'm sure you being a son to Hecate, you can do much more."

He smiled. He didn't exactly like showing off unless someone asked for it. He waved his hand and a bunch of bones came rising out of the ground and floated around his hand. "Not as strong as I'd like, but good enough. I can make them form into shapes but only at a limit. Thankfully I haven't needed to find out that limit."

Derek watched as the son of Hecate made bone like structures emerge from the ground. He smirked and scratched underneath his jaw. "That's pretty cool, Seb. Good job."

"Thanks. It's pretty nice." He could go on and on about the strategic benefits his chosen magic path reaped but I'm watching Doctor who and I don't feel like it.

Derek nodded slowly and smiled at him before staring off into the space. "So, um, where are you from?" He asked him, repositioned himself so that now he was laying on his stomach.

"Puerto Rico. Island of parties and piña coladas. Amazing place. Great balance between man and nature. Simply beautiful."

"Oh that's cool! I speak a little Spanish myself." He said a bit proudly, a smile going across his lips.

"That's pretty cool. What words can you say besides the basic greeting and baby words?"

"Baby words?" He asked a bit taken back. "Hablo mucho español." Derek hoped that he side it correctly.

"Baby words. Like mom, dad, simple things." he was interested in seeing how much the kid actually knew. "¿Pues cuanto verdaderamente sabes?"

Derek bit his lip, he had only taken Spanish one and two which covered just the basics of the Language as well as the cultures behind them. "¿Que?" He laughed a bit.
