Crushes, past, and fighting (BoO Spoilers)

"Okay." Eva sat back on the boat, watching him row them back to shore. "I don't mind I like both though I would not mind a nice drink." She looked at him jokingly. "You Greeks do drink right?"

"Pizza it is, I have to try this stuff. By drink, you mean alcohol, right? I mean, Dionysus-Bacchus or Hermes-Mercury, my siblings, kids at our camp sneak it in and sometimes we have it at dances but I don't drink it personally. I want to keep in shape, not get a beer belly or lose myself. And also it makes people act all weird and not themselves. I drink Kool Aid, though, if that counts. Why, you don't drink alcohol, do you?"

"Cool and no no." She laughed lightly. "It would not do a Roman much good to be found drunk whether on duty or off particularly if they were in the first cohort or in a position of power within New Rome." Eva had never drank any alcohol and intended to never drink any.
"Perhaps it does not make people weird but rather rids them off their fears and gives them some form of courage? And Kool Aid is not alcohol by drink I meant if you drank any liquid."

"It also takes away all of their reasoning and makes them do stupid things. Kool Aid is good, but I was joking, I try not to drink sugar either, just water or maybe gatorade or milk. Although sometimes when I'm hanging out with friends I will drink a few sodas. Or girlfriends," he winked, laughing. "No, not really, all of my former girlfriends are probably like old or dead. Ooops- well, I think that just led into my secret." He was quiet for a second.

"I'm actually 42 years old. I was in the Lotus Casino for a huge chunk of my life. I was actually born in 1973, got in the casino in '89, t age 16, and came out last year. I'm seventeen now. I'm sorry if that makes you not like me." He put on a sad face. It was fifty percent true, he nearly told no one this, and when he did, they usually didn't talk to him anymore, but also fifty percent false, he wanted her to at least feel some sympthany for him. "Also, you can call me Chris, not Topher. Christopher Rane."

"Came out?" Eva echoed, taking it as the new expression for when someone revealed that they were in fact homosexual. She tried to not feel disappointed if he wasn't attracted to girls then fair enough. Eva could not say anything against it, she was attracted to both, usually towards those who did not like her.
"Right Chris..." She did not like how they seemed to have been building upon a lie. The truth from the start was always much better than a lie, a lie would always be revealed in the end for what it was.

"Like, out of the casino. Broke out. I used this really cool power I have to make myself not be heard. It's pretty wicked cool. Hermes kid elite over here," he joked, grinning, but he was pretty sure her mood had died down a bit, and he wondered why. "Did I upset you with my history? Oh, no, it's happening again..."

"Oh." She sounded relieved, that meant he was hopefully attracted to girls. It would be rather awkward for them both and perhaps rather embarrassing for Eva if he was forced to come out. Not that she would have minded, far better for him to say than for her to find out later.
"No... I just thought well..." Eva fell silent uncertain how to explain herself. He might not like the truth of what she had thought.

"Thought well what? Did I word something wrong?" Chris was a bit worried to what he could've said.

"Er... The way you said came out made me think well... Made me worry that you might be not into girls." Eva explained to him awkwardly, she looked away. "It is cool if you aren't... I... I'm also into girls as well if that makes you feel any better about it." Her cheeks flushed with colour.

"Oh, no, dude, I'm totally into girls, heterosexual. I'm especially into you," he grinned at her, winking. They were almost to shore now. "Are...are you into dudes?" He worried slightly. He assumed so, considering they'd been flirting the entire time.

Her cheeks flushed with more colour. "Yes... I think so I've only had a relationship with a girl in the past though." If they did become boyfriend and girlfriend, well he would find out sooner or later from someone that Eva in the past had a girlfriend. It made far more sense for him to find out from her now, rather than later from someone else.

"Oh...um, cool." Chris didn't know what to say much beyond that. They finally reached land, and he got out, holding out a hand to help her out. "So, Italian?"

"Sure." She answered him as she accepted his hand and clambered ashore. "Thank you by the way you are not bad for a Greek." At first it sounded like Eva might be having a go at him but there was a playful glimmer in her eyes.

Chris felt happy on the inside when she told him he wasn't bad for a Greek- he hated when Greeks and Romans still fought, it was stupid. Chris looked around, and motioned for her to come along as he started walking towards the Italian restaraunt. "I'll pay for dinner."

"Oh you are kind but I can pay for myself." Eva insisted, pleased that he had offered to pay for her. She was glad that he decided not to ask more questions about her previous relationships.

Chris smiled. He didn't want to argue, he'd know she ended up refusing and then it would turn into one of those grandma you need the money more fights. When they arrived at the pizza place, someone gave them a surprise.

"Heyy, yo, what's good in hood?" Constantine asked with a big stupid grin on his face. "You're a Greek, huh? Greek, meet angry Roman girl. Angry. WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY SWAMP?"

"..what'd that kid just say?"

Eva let out a heavy sigh. "Constantine what a pleasure to meet a brute like yourself here." Her voice was cold and calm, it happened to be obvious she disliked the interruption. Nor his opinion of her. Funny thing, he smelt a bit like an awkward, not the guy she was going to the pizza place with but the Constantine.

"Oooh you sound bitter. Did I interupt a date with you and mr shirtless over here?"

Chris blushed a bit, realizing he was still shirtless.

"Greek boy, meet Eva. Angry, rude. Eva-ish. Did you know one time she forgot to shower after a War Games practice and smelled like BO the rest of the night? I know cause I was there! I had a video of it but then she broke my phone."

"Uhhhh..'

"Stop making up lies Constantine!." Eva snapped at him, shaking with anger. "Your just jealous because you aren't on a date with me."

"I can't tell a lie, Eva. Legacy of Veritas, truth goddess, remember? I can assure you it's true, graceus."

Chris just awkwardly shifted.

"I'll believe that when you come out with the truth." She snapped, whipping around and stalking away crossly.

"It is the truth. So, where are you and mister shirtless graceus going?"

"We're just going to eat here, bud. And I left my shirt back at the lake."

"Eva, did you steal it? I'm sure she likes you better shirtless," he joked, punching his arm.

"Has anyone ever told you you're annoying?"

"Has anyone ever not told me I'm annoying is the question. I say we all three eat a huge meal."

"We're on a date, dude, or at least, hanging out. Don't you get that?" Chris growled.

"...I'm hungry. You pay for dinner, Eva?"

Eva did not respond she kept walking away, it was after all far easier than punching Constantine in his stupid face.

"Are we ignoring him?" Chris whispered to her.

"I am." Eva snapped. "You can do what you want." She called back to him, as she continued to walk swiftly away. Clearly she wanted nothing to do with the other Roman.
