Getting a Quest Empty Getting a Quest

    Post by Stuart35 5/16/2012, 4:23 pm

I walked into the cave, looking around slowly. I didn't know what to expect, would the Oracle just be sitting on a chair wearing regular clothes, or would she be sitting on a rock formation, wearing decorative cloths? The cave was fairly lit as I went in, and kind of spooky, but I'd be fine, I assumed.

Rachel, sitting on a little bean bag chair in a dark shadowy corner of the cave, let out a sneeze. Ugh. Her allergies were pretty bad over here in CHB -- if she were back at the Academy... No, no. She didn't want to go back there. It was so stupid and strict over there, and she hated strictness. "Who's there?" she called out, yawning and stretching her legs out.

I heard someone say something from around the corner. I walked around the corner cautiously and saw the oracle, Rachel, sitting there on a bean bag chair. I stood up straight and smiled a bit. "Hi," I said to her, waving a bit, feeling a little bit awkward.

Rachel frowned at the boy for a moment. Was this the David she'd asked for? Hm. Well, she needed to find out, because not just any David could waltz in at the moment and immediately get his prophecy. She straightened up a bit and crossed her legs on the beanbag chair. "Are you David... Seledon? Something like that."

I scratched my head, 'David Seledan? That had to be me, I guess,' I thought. "Yeah, that's me, David Seletan," I told her, looking around a little bit; I've never been in here before, I never knew what it looked like.

"Oh.... I see." Rachel nodded, standing up and brushing her hands off on her pants. Why she did that, she didn't know. Shutting her eyes, she took a deep breath; when she opened them, her eyes were glowing green and the room filled with green mist as she recited:

"4 Demigods shall embark on a quest,
4 items they will need to complete their test.
The first place they will need to go is covered in ice,
after years of snow, look down and be precise.
After that, head to the mountain of fire,
which recently exploded but still hasn't expired.
To find the second item you seek, head to the peak,
and find the golden rod, but don't be weak.
After that, head down to the Southeast,
to the land where the sun shines, without cease.
Go to the famous park named after a famous man,
and find the special sword that has been banned.
Once you find the sword, go to the land where people ride,
horses into the sunset and pistols concide.
Head to the capital and head to the zoo,
to find the wild animal with the token and clue.
Follow the clue to the place it describes,
an old building with a god's secret hidden inside.
Use the items you recieved to defend you from your demise,
the monsters there plan to destroy, and one person shall go out in cries.
Use the clue to unlock the secret gate,
inside the room, the god waits.
Take the secret gem and note you receive, and use it to stop the counterattack,
while also taking the god's advice about the monster's worthless payback.
Rush home with plenty of time to spare,
and handle then note you were given with lots of care."

I blinked, 'That's a lot to remember,' I think to myself. I scratched my head, confused. I remembered it, but I don't think I could remember for it that long. "Uhhh, okay," I said to her. "Thanks, I guess, is there any way to get that written down on a paper?"

Rachel blinked, the glowing fading from her eyes as the mist dissipated from the room. For a moment, she didn't know where she was as she tiredly slumped down in the bean bag chair. Looking around, she realized she was in her cave. "Oh.... Uh. I dunno, I don't normally remember my prophecies."

I thought a little bit, then managed to piece the entire prophecy together, and put it in my long-term memory. "Well, it was a long one," I told her. "Anyway, thanks!" I waved, leaving. I walked out of the cave, back to the Big House.

I walked into the cave as Chiron had directed and stopped, waiting for my eyes to adjust to the contrast of light. I saw Rachel and smiled, "Hello Rachel, how have you been?" I asked putting my hands in my pockets.

Rachel laughed slightly, shrugging her shoulders. "You know, I don't know either. It just happens, maybe about five minutes at most after the person gets here.... Did Chiron tell you anything else about this quest?"

"Eh.... Actually, I asked for you, but yeah...." Rachel trailed off, waiting for a few seconds, and then she stood up, shutting her eyes tightly. When she opened them, her eyes were glowing green and green mist began to appear in the room from an unknown source as she recited:

"Three Half-bloods will be tasked to find-
    The Huntress’ Ceryneian Hind
Go to the frozen, icy land
To pluck the deer from evil’s hand
And through the tortured waves of woe
    Appears the maiden’s missing doe.
But by the evil deeds, unseen
A plan to make the Hind unclean
And with its sacred, tainted form
The Damned would need to feed no more
But for revenge of Hera’s claim
The Wicked plan to do the same
And send her children to the grave
Unless the Hind alas is saved."

I frowned, this was new... What was a Ceryneian Hind? Some of those words I didn't like either, "Damned" was never a good term. Huntress was easy to deduce, Artemis, but what was "Hera's claim"? I didn't know, but I looked up from my thoughts at Rachel. "Rachel?" I asked hesitantly, "Are you alright?"

The glowing from Rachel's eyes faded and the mist dissipated; she sat back down heavily into the bean bag chair, blinking her eyes. A boy was standing in front of her -- he was really tall and muscular. For a moment, she didn't remember who he was, until after a few more seconds, she realized he was Jordan Armstrong. Did he ask her something? Rachel blinked, dazed. "Huh?"

After having closed the door, I left the Big House and went to the Oracle's Cave. I loved caves in general, but this one... This one was awesome.
The entrance was great, veiled with two long purple curtains embroidered with snakes. I stuck my head inside, not knowing how to enter this place.
Rachel Dare, the Pythia, was sitting on a three-legged stool, apparently lost in thought.
Since there was no door, I tapped at the cave's wall, and she turned around to notice me. I pushed one curtain away and walked in.

"Hello.", I said, not knowing if I should call her 'Pythia', 'Oracle', 'Ms Dare' or simply 'Rachel'.

Post by Jordan 12/14/2012, 11:00 am

Rachel sat up to look at the owner of the voice, she was lost in her game and paused it. She could defeat the Elite Four later. "Hello Morgan." Rachel smiled, shifting on her seat to face her. She figured she was here for a prophecy, that's the only reason anyone came... "You want your prophecy don't you?" Rachel asked running a hand through her curly red hair. The oracle closed her eyes and inhaled deeply...

Rachel's eyes fluttered opened and glowed a faint green. A thick green fog snaked across the floor and coiled around Morgan's legs, whispering the secrets of her prophecy.

Rachel opened her mouth as if to speak, but her voice didn't echo through the cave. Dozens of whispers spoke in unison, reciting the lines of a new prophecy.

    "While rivalry disunites the gods,
    Three half-bloods shall leave and face the odds;
    Demon is their underwater aid
Of Sea's forge they shall open the gate
    Hundred hands shall ruin or save their goal;
The Storm's King will take over control."

Rachel closed her mouth and her eyes soon followed. She opened her eyes again to see the remnants of the fog dissipate, leaving the floor of the cave clear.

I looked at Rachel. The Storm's King will take over control.
There were loads of Storm Kings. Zeus, of course, but he was first the god of Lightning.
No, I was most thinking of Poseidon, who was the number one god of Tempest. But there was too those other frightning thoughts: what about Typhoon, the Storm monster? The gods had defeated him, sending him to the Tartarus, but if the Titans had managed to make him come back, and if Gaia was controlling the Doors of Death... Well, he could come back any time.
And what about Porphyrion? He was meant to destroy Zeus, and he was pretty good at starting a hurricane.

I realized she was looking back at me, frowning, so I just thanked her and rushed out, running back to the Big House.
