Making Weapons

I come in and start building a sword for Vic. When I am done, I go to the Infirmary.

I strolled into the armory, whistling to myself merrily as I was hit with a wave of heat. At first it felt really uncomfortable, but I got over that soon enough. The furnace was unlit and there were various materials scattered around on the tables, but this was a regular sight that I missed a bit on the quest. I went over to a pile of damaged weapons and picked up a dagger, examining it; I'd need a lot of Celestial bronze to make a new harpoon....

I looked up from the dagger, frowning for a moment when I saw a girl wandering in -- she looked familiar....

I snapped my fingers suddenly, putting the dagger down. Of course -- it was the wonderful Ares cabin counselor Clarisse, how could I forget. I looked at her with a slightly critical eye, wondering what kinds of fights she'd started while I was on the quest. "Clarisse, why, hello -- I see you're in fine health this wonderful day."

"I had a broken shoulder until yesterday, so...." I shrugged, picking up the dagger and putting it on the table closest to the furnace. "The quest was... decent, I suppose. Krakens and all that fun stuff...." I paused, wondering if Clarisse knew Ophelia -- she couldn't have, she probably would have tried to punch her in the face....

"I'd pick a ghost ship over pegasi any day, actually -- at least with a ghost ship you could use cannons or something, which would have helped with a kraken.... Though, I'm pretty sure it would have been sunk the first few seconds." I frowned and turned away, sighing as I picked a dented shield from the pile of damaged weaponry; there was a leather strap attached, so I'd have to tear that off.

"Trying to make a new harpoon -- mine got destroyed when the Kraken exploded into a sea of dust." I grimaced at the memory and put the shield down next to the dagger, turning back to the pile to look for a sword. That would give me enough Celestial bronze to make a new harpoon, a bit bigger than the old one -- I needed to work on my aim a bit, so next time I could get in a good first-move on some overly large monster.

"Need? Well, no, not really; I do this a lot in my free time." Picking up the dagger, which was bent like a boomerang, I lopped off the leather strap on the shield and scraped off its remaining roots . Perfectly good to melt, now. "You want to help me melt this stuff?"

"Well, that's why you have to make it fun. Here, you take this." I picked up the sword and held it out towards her, point first -- and then I realized my mistake, so I gripped it by the blade trying not to cut myself and held the hilt out to her. "I'll take the shield and dagger."

I watched Clarisse melt the dagger, frowning to myself slightly as I looked around the forge -- where were the harpoon molds? I went to the opposite side of the armory, where there lay molds of all kinds for shields, daggers, arrow heads, etc. I sifted through the large pile, looking for a harpoon mold -- dagger, no, sword, no.... Aah, here it is. I pulled out the long harpoon mold from the bottom of the pile; it was in fairly good condition, so it would work; it looked as if it'd been resealed, but I didn't know if that was a good or bad thing. I went back over to Clarisse to look at the melted Celestial bronze. "Looks good. Move over a bit, I'll need some space to melt the shield...."

I shuffle over to the side a bit, leaving room for her. "So now what?"

"Now what? Well, first, I gotta melt this stuff, Clarisse.... After that we'll pour it all into this mold, wait a bit, and then we'll have the harpoon." I set the mold down on a table and proceeded to melt the shield and dagger, putting the liquid metal into a container I held by a pair of tongs and gloves. "Hold the mold up with a pair of gloves, will you?"

Slowly and carefully, I held the tongs holding the vat of metal with both hands and moved it towards the mold. When I was about half a foot away from it, I stopped and raised it level to the opening in the mold, tilting the vat towards it; the liquid Celestial bronze flowed from the container and into the mold, hissing slightly as it left. When I was done I put the vat down carefully and nodded to Clarisse to put the mold down carefully.

James walks in his head hung low he grabs some material's for the hidden blade and pulls outu the blue prints.

"Well, now we wait for a few minutes." Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed a boy walk into the armory and gather materials for something, taking some blueprints out from a pocket or something. I looked around for a filled vat of water, but it was on the other side of the armory; sighing, I looked at Clarisse. "Do you see any giant water barrels or vats around here?"

I begin to carve the vambrace out of the leather attaching the buckles and carving the pattern in.
