Flaws: Jesse is a compulsive liar (especially with facts about himself), afraid of someone knowing him intimately, a self-harmer and appears to be a friendly person but is actually rather distant. His lack of closeness makes him quick to gossip or betray someone if another person is being nicer at that given time.

Life Before CHB*: Jesse was the result of a successful attorney's short-term affair with a smooth-talking man she met, having no idea he was a god for the first few little trysts. Alicia met with Hermes three times before she knew, and he was gone by the time she knew she was expecting a baby, her second child overall. Jesse looked nothing like his brown-haired, tan sister Bria(four years older than him), and it was an unspoken truth he was someone else's. It wasn't much a shock when his 'parents' divorced when he was six.
Bria was walking him home from school one day when he was eleven, after a fight with another kid had him sent home and she had to come rescue him. But on the way home disaster struck with a monster attack, her dying before his eyes. It was that summer a satyr he'd gotten acquainted with told him about camp half-blood after the child, raving about the monster in hysterics, had been passed off as 'simply irrational and traumatized.' But the damage had been well-enough done with Jesse struggling with PTSD and depression throughout the next years, taking to hurting himself by cutting at the thighs for the first time when he was just thirteen. He's always such a good liar that most think him well-adjusted and dealing with it well, or don't even know about the tragedy at all. He suffers in silence.

"You tried to reach deep but you couldn't get in." He was aware his cabin-mates were present as he sang to music they couldn't hear, but then, who cared? If they were so bothered, they'd put their own in. He sat listening until it ended and he could pull out the ear buds and potentially find some amusement in some fellow humans. The Hermes cabin were a chatty group, the truth of the chat varying. Just how Jesse Wallis liked it, really, lost in a group of storytellers like himself. Hearing a comment on elephants, he was struck and launched into a fictitious tale of an insane zoo-incident with the best friend he never hate at age seven. They ate it up like they ate up all his smile, just as he liked it.
