He woke up early as planed, a good hour before dawn, and went down to the forest with Camalos, his pitch black mastiff, adorned in his leather armor, his kilt, a long bronze dagger with a bone handle, his favorit sword (a celestial bronze Claymor) on his back, a full quiver, fully painted from head to toe to look like a cross between a celtic and a greek hunter as his holds his favorit longbow (a longbow made of celestial bronze and dear antlers) and waited for his friend. Getting a feel for the woods, the way it breaths and sways. he look down at his dog waitig patiantly as he said "Dont worry she'll be here soon, she is nuthing if not punctual."

OOC: I invited Taco to post with us, because his character Solitude has a special link with Lakisha; I hope it doesn't bother you too much. So we'll have a posting order : Victroce, Morgan, Taco.
Oh, and Victroce, please put in the topic title that it's a private one.

    BIC:
The moon was still up in the sky when Lakisha woke up.
She always woke up early, it had always been a habit of hers. She couldn't understand people who could sleep until 11am.
She stayed some moments staring at the bunk over her, retracing the lines of the wood with her eyes. Finally, she pushed her ice blue duvet back and swung her legs out of her bed. She silently jumped to the ground, careful not to wake anybody up; the whole Chione cabin was still asleep. She got sight of Cassiopeia, breathing regularly, one arm hanging out of her bed.
Trying to make as less sound as possible, she opened the trunk under the bunk bed and took out her clothes: black leggings with a black shirt she used for biathlon. Holding them, she disappeared into the bathroom and switched the light on only when she had closed and locked the door.
Lakisha put her new clothes on the ground, and took off her silver-colored nightgown. The delicate silk slid softly off her skin.
She took a quick, ice-cold shower, making the vivid water gush on her face in order to fully wake up.
Then, she dried herself with a white towel, and put her clothes on. Since the leggings and the shirt were black and sheathing her body, it looked like she was wearing an overall.
Lakisha combed her hair slowly, brushing it into a mass of dark auburn fur, then braided it, removing every single strain from her face. After that, she put her usual artistic make-up on: she painted brown lines parting from her cheekbones, so it looked like they were branches running on the side of her face.
Satisfied with her appearance, Lakisha shut the light down, unlocked the door and went outside. She neatly folded her nightgown and put it on her bed, then put black leather boots on, and attached her leg- and arm pieces with the leather straps. At first, she had wanted to put them on under her clothes so they would not shine under the moon light, but it was uncomfortable, since the leather straps sometimes cut into the skin or irritated it. She took out a hunt knife as well and attached it on her left thigh.
Finally, she took Chrymos, her weapon, still in form of a tiny ice pick, and went outside.
The cold air blew into her face and she closed her eyes in delight. Yes, frostiness. What an enchantment.
She turned her weapon into a bow, and a quiver full of her arrows appeared on her back, attached by a leather strap running across her chest. She tightened the strap a little bit, and checked her arrows. All consisted of fine, light wood with flat, sharp edge of celestial bronze. The edges were not shaped in the classical pointed form, but were designed like the Persian arrows: a bit rectangular, and were composed of motives that looked like barbed wire. The purpose of those arrows was that, should the victim still be alive and trying to take the arrow out of its body, it would tear as much flesh with it as possible.
    Lakisha loved her arrows.
She crossed the cabins's courtyard and went to the edge of the forest. There, she uttered a light whistle. Some moments after, a shape silently ran over to her.

"Hello, Salomo," she whispered and stroked the head of the eurasian lynx.

The winter was almost finished, but the lynx still had its white and grey fur, that shone silvery in the moonlight. His eyes were fully amber-colored, except for the black slits of his pupils. He purred as the daughter of Chione stroked his flanks, showing his sharp fangs a bit. Lakisha loved his ears, they were soft and delicate, and always in movement. She bent down to kiss one ear, then rose again.
With her lynx at her side, she walked into the forest.
Victroce had given her a rendez-vous at Zeus's Fist, which was somewhere a lot of demigods gave rendez-vous for hunting.
Lakisha knew the way by heart and could even retrace it in the darkness of the night.
The fresh scent of pine trees were delicious to the young woman, and the earthly smell that came from the ground made her dizzy. Yet, her mismatched blue and green eyes were constantly moving, attentive to the slightest sign of movement between the dark and knotty forms of the trees. She tried to be as silent as possible when she pushed the low branches aside, and took out her hunt knife. Technically, it couldn't be considered her own weapon, but she had asked a fellow Hephaestus kid to make it only for her hunting. Because since her weapon could turn either into a bow or a dagger, and not both at the same time, it was risky to go into the forest when a monster could easily backstab one, or when the monster was too close to shoot an arrow.
Increasing pace, she jumped with agility over the warped roots and dodged effortlessly the wild branches. Some were accidentally scratching her face, but it was very, very minor. Lakisha was close, she knew, to the Old Titan Cabin, and it made her feel uneasy.
    Titans.
Those people are torn, she thought. It was time to erase whatever they said. Their false promises. Their lies.
But what about Gaea? She still hadn't sorted out whether she should join her mother or fight with the Olympians.
Finally, she arrived at Zeus's Fist, a pile of stones that gave those who stood on it a good view of the forest.
She spotted Victroce, already waiting for her, but his mastiff had already scented them. Salomo hissed a little, his ears flat against his skull, but Lakisha put a calming hand on his back, and he relaxed a bit.

"Χάιρε!" she said in a murmured call, greeting him in Ancient Greek.

She quickly climbed the rocks with suppleness and stood next to him. He was painted like a celtic warrior, which contrasted with his greek armor. He had several weapons, making Lakisha feel a little vulnerable. She only had her bow, arrows, and a knife. Should they be found by a monster, he would be the best prepared to answer the attack.

The Hunt Begins (Private) Empty Re: The Hunt Begins (Private)

Post by Guest 4/8/2013, 3:10 pm

Solitude had nothing to do. His day had so far consisted of him sitting around in his cabin all alone. His cabin had been that way since he had awoken a few hours ago from now. Every kid was probably out in Greek language classes or combat training. Solitude hated being taught by other people. They were annoying, teacher were. The boy usually played hooky for most of his classes. He never really ever talked to any other people as well. He spent most of his time in the forest, which was where he was now.

Solitude was taking a jog through the forest. He liked to frequent the running trails and use them for what they were for. The boy would much rather train alone than in a group, which what was the directors of camp encouraged. Solitude probably didn't even exist in their eyes. He never did anything to get himself noticed or speak out against something, which he wished he could do. If it was up to him their would be no classes or training. It would be a mass free-for-all. Only the strongest and toughest would survive. It would be an amazing utopia in the son of Polydeuces' eyes.

The boy could only dream of creating a beautiful utopia. He was smart enough to know that something like that would never happen. The boy often found himself day dreaming about things that he could not accomplish whenever he was out on the trails. He loved being outside in the wild. There was only one rule: survive. Solitude loved that aspect of being out in the forest. Half the time people stayed away from the forest, only going into it for the frequent Capture the Flag game. Sometimes Sol came across sole people who were training. It always brought a smile to his face to see that. It was a step closer to this 'utopia'. Solitude would very rarely help the person out; such as telling them how to stand properly or how to move correctly to be more efficient and stronger. The boy always liked the feel inside of him that he got whenever he helped someone out. It made him feel whole, as if he truly was a somebody.

At the time Sol was taking a jog through the somewhat quiet forest. He could near nothing besides the birds chirping and the sound of his black and purple Adidas running shoes making contact with the ground at every step. Solitude had started his trek at the Zephyros Creek and was now a a long ways away from it. He was pretty sure he was nearing Zeus' fist. Any minute now he would see the pile of rocks that marked the once entrance to the Labyrinth, a giant maze that was made to bring out the greatest fears of a person and test them. Solitude sort of wished he could go in the ancient place, try out and see how strong he really was, but it was now quite destroyed when that one boy managed to make his way through it and save the day. What a show off...

Soon enough the large rubble pile was visible through the trees. Instead of seeing no one there, like how he expected, there were two kids there, talking. Odd. If they wanted to talk, they could always go to the lounge in the Big House or something. After more inspection, Solitude notices that the two were armed and the boy concludes that they were hunters. Maybe he should join them. Have some fun. Maybe. Sol wasn't the most interactive person. He kept to himself rather than being straight forward and out with the words. Words were an issue for the boy. He could never find the right ones to say. Maybe he should try something simple such as 'What's up?' Maybe...

Solitude quickly retreated to the bushes and slings his Muse gray triangled back-pack off of his shoulder. Inside of the pack he had a change of more appropriate hunting clothes and his weapons, a pair Celestial Bronze sickles, a hunting bow with a quiver of arrows, and a small dagger. All of the items were, of course, magical and able to be changed into a smaller item. In this case all of the weapons had changed into a pair of brass knuckles. The boy quickly changes out of his running clothes, a pair of shorts and a training shirt, into a more suitable pair of dark combat pants and a forest green light jacket. Sol throws these on, along with a pair of boots, military style. He puts his stripped clothes into the pack and zips it back up. Throwing the pack onto a tree, the boy makes his way out onto the trail again. He slips on his brass knuckles as he walks into the clearing around Zeus' Fist and up to the two kids.

'Something fun going on? Maybe a hunt?' the boy asks with a straight face that showed no sign of emotion whatsoever. This was Solitude. Usually quiet, strong, fast, and very bad with other people.

Victroce squats on the pile of ruble with Camalos, looking like the predator he was, entranced by the feel and flow of the forest. He took a deep breath of the forest air and caught the sent of his best friend when Camalos started to growl. He looked in that direction and saw her walking towards them with a lynx that still had its white and grey winter coat. he held his hand up and said to Camalos "Só leigheas Camalos, a gcairde. Is é seo an Lakisha agus Salomo." and he stopped growling and barking just in time for him to hear her greet him in Greek and started panting like the big puppy he was to friends and replied "Καλημέρα φίλε μου" Because it was still technically morning. Then he herd someone else and Camalos started growling and again. He looked over and saw this kid as he asked them what they were doing in a cold and expressionless way that was both cool and creepy at the same time so. he looked over at Camalos and barking said "Só leigheas Camalos" and he stopped barking and growling but never stopped baring his teeth at the guy. He looked back at the kid and said "Ya, and sorry about him, he doesn't like strangers and come to think of it neither do I, so if you wouldn't mind introducing your self and you can join us if you want." with a smile on his face.

Lakisha was a bit surprised, because Victroce greeted her in modern Greek instead of Ancient Greek. But retracing by 'Kali' and 'Himera', who were both ancient greek words, she understood he was greeting her.
Salomo sniffled Camalos with interest, his ears flicking from side to side.
Then, the other, tall, lanky yet muscled boy came around. When she had heard the bushes move, Lakisha had immediately spun around, taking her hunting knife out. But she had relaxed, seeing the boy.
He had slightly curly, light brown hair, like peanut butter, which looked a little blonde in the moonlight. She saw some of his strains were darker, which looked a bit as if he died it. But Lakisha could see they were his natural color. Interesting. His eyes looked black, but when light came on them as he stepped forward, she noticed they were in fact dark brown, like a piece of chocolate.
In the moonlight, his skin looked incredibly pale, like hers. Almost as if it was shining from itself.
He addressed them in an expressionless way, which looked a bit weird, but Lakisha liked it.
She put a calming hand on Victroce's shoulder.

"Let's not be rude, guys," she quietly said.

With the war against Gaea, it was true that many people didn't trust others. But that shouldn't cause unnecessary fights.
'Paranoia is in bloom,' the young woman thought with an inner sigh. 'But I just don't care if it's real. It won't change how it feels.'
She turned her blue and green gaze towards the boy.
He was tall, for the average, but she was very tall as well, so they were the same height, approximatively. She sheathed her knife as a sign she wasn't an enemy. Ignoring his question, she introduced herself.

"I think we met before. My name is Lakisha Bellamy, cabin leader of the Khione cabin."

As always, her voice was calm and pleasant, yet a bit cold, but that didn't show too much. Like glass needles in the hay. The eighteen-year-old girl observed his face, his features. He had fair skin, bushy eyebrows, and a small nose.
Yes, she had met him before, but she didn't remember when. Perhaps it had been a long time ago, perhaps not. Perhaps she had just caught a glimpse of him at a training, or so.

    "Who are you?" she asked.

Solitude was not expecting to be actually greeted. He thought the kids would shoo him off or tell him to f*** off. That's was what most kids did to the boy. He had gained a sense of hatred towards him that everyone seemed to have. Not these two though, odd. The son of Polydeuces stares at the two with no expression whatsoever. He had to keep that up, even if he wasn't exactly trying. It was how he generally looked; bored and tired, unkowing and uncaring. The boy slowly puts his hands to his sides, his eyes landing on the girl. She looked vaguely familiar . . . odd . . .

'The name is Solitude Wolstenholme, son of Polydeuces, better known as Pollux. Now, may I ask, have we met before? I don't think so, but you seem familiar,' the boy says, pointing the finger on his left arm towards Lakisha. She seemed to be part of a memory with a tear in it. It was an awkward sensation. Whatever. The two probably never have met before and after the night was over, would probably never see each other again. Solitude was like that. He would make an acquaintance for a few hours, then dissapear of the face of the Earth. It was how he was. It was him being Solitude.

His grin widened as the young lad introduced him self with the same cool yet creepy lac of expiration which was probably a deference against people getting to close and said "It is pleasure to meet you lad. I'm Victroce Malitie, son of Hephaestus, and as far as I am concerned you can join us in our hunt if you wish." turned to Lakisha and said "And before you say anything about me trusting a stranger, there is a good reason why I don't mind him joining the party. The first is that you guys have obviously met before and even though you don't remember its also obvious that he didn't piss you off so he cant be all bad. The second reason is that I like the idea of being in a hunting party of five, safety in numbers and all that, besides if he dose try to betray us I'll cut his Achilles tendons and leave him in the woods. how ever I highly doubt it will come to that mainly because I like his cold attitude, it kind of reminds me of you only more so." laughing a quick chuckle in his thick Scottish at the obvious joke and said "So, do you want to loin us or not?"

Lakisha observed Solitude a bit more.

"I do think we met before.... But I don't remember when or where."

    She stepped closer to him.

"A son of Polydeuces, you say. I've heard of your father, of course. One of the Dioskuroi. But I have never met one of his children - until now, of course."

The young woman studied him with an inclined head, her thick auburn braid, which looked chocolate-brown in the darkness, falling over one shoulder.

"Well, a son of the god of hunting and horsemanship can be only welcomed in a hunting party like this," she finally said with her usual cool smile, before turning to Victroce. "Oh, I don't think he shall betray us," she murmured. "Why should a demigod do this? It doesn't seem like the Goddess of Earth recruits children of the gods."

She took her long recurve bow off her shoulder and armed it with three arrows, holding it horizontally.

"Shall we, gentlemen?" she asked. "Otherwise we shall be late for breakfast. And the sky is slowly getting pale."

Solitude studied the group in front of him. It consisted of the boy, the girl, a large dog, and a fairly large lynx as well. Definitely a good hunting team right there. The boy slowly clenches his fists to make his weapons change out from the brass knuckle form and the one on his left hand into a bow, the other a sword. The boy slings the bow over his shoulders, along with a quiver he had already had strapped onto his back. He kept his sword in his right hand, but pointed at the ground. He didn't want to appear to be hostile in any possible way. The boy still could not get the fact that he had met this girl before out of his mind though. She was like a void in his mind, there, but then again not there. It was odd and filled him with a sense of mysteriousness. It was obvious that she did not remember him as well, so maybe they were somehow spiritually connected? No, it couldn't be. Things like that didn't exist, did they?

"Trust me, I would not betray someone. Why would I? There is no point." the boy says, shrugging his shoulders.

Victroce nodded approvingly at his weapons of choice and said "Good lad know we can be on our way" then looked to Camalos and said "Camalos, is é seo Sol, tá sé le cara.". Camalos started to pant like a puppy and went over to solitude, sniffed him and brushed up on him, then went to Lakisha and did the same, then returned to Victroce's side. Victroce looked down at his buddy and grinned as he said "Wow, he likes you and he don't like most anyone. Oh before I forget Camalos only responds to Gaelic commands so if we get separated he wont be much use if you don't speak Gaelic(Irish), granted he'll still protect you but that's the extent of it." and drew his celestial bronze claymore and said Now lets be off, the hunt awaits."

Lakisha grinned at both of them. She hadn't patted Camalos when he had come to sniff her because she wasn't sure the dog would appreciate it.
    She nodded at Solitude's bow.

    "Nice one," she commented.

The young woman then turned back to the two of them.

"I believe we shouldn't stay here. The monsters are more in the eastern side of the Forest," she added, pointing to the part of the forest with one of her arrows. "Let us be off, then."

She jumped off Zeus's Fist, and rolled on the ground in order not to break her bones by the impact, because the pile of stones was quite high.
Knowing the two others were following her, she started jogging silently between the trees, jumping over some roots, dodging the branches, and always turning on herself to make sure she wasn't sneaked on by some monster.
Salomo was running alongside her, his grey fur taking silver highlights when the moon shone on it.

Solitude hadn't even started hunting or anything, but he was having a good time already. These two already accepted him as part of their hunt, which brought a grin to the boy's face. The son of Polydeuces then makes a flying leap off of the pile of rocks that made up Zeus' Fist. The boy soars for a few milliseconds before landing on the dirt floor with the balls of his feet. He didn't do anything fancy like how Lakisha had, but what he did still worked; that, and he didn't feel like accidentally getting impaled by his sword in the middle of his roll. With a swift movement of his arms and hands, the boy takes his bow into his hands and sheathes his sword onto his back. The boy, keeping an arrow notched in his bow, takes off after Lakisha. She had gotten a bit of a head start, but Solitude was a swift runner. He had to be as acute on his senses as he could be. There were snares and pits in the forest that would cause him to trip, highly messing up his role in the hunt. The boy, despite his bulk, was a silent and nimble runner. And all-rounder, as some would say. A rogue or assassin and a warrior put together into one package. The boy soon enough catches up to Lakisha, but trails a little but behind her just in case anything sprung out at the girl from the back. Sol would have it dead in seconds, or at least he hopes he will. The boy was hoping that Victroce would do the same for him. He had a big dog, that could easily watch his back for him. This all seemed to be working out well so far. If luck was in their favor, it would stay that way as well.

Impressed by the young lads' grace and speed he fallowed suet and simply slid down the rock pile and took off after them with a surprising amount of his own speed and grace and caught up with them relatively fast with Camalos by his side. this was what it was all about, the hunt had only just started and he was already pumped up as he travels with an old friend, a new companion and he was itching to see what the young lad could do. this night promises to be an eventful one regardless of whether or not they find anything to hunt in the first place.

Solitude was catching up with Lakisha; he was now at Salomo's height.
She kept bouncing between the branches, racing between the trees, turning around every six seconds to make sure they weren't attacked or sneaked on.
They reached the side of the forest they were heading for and Lakisha raised a pale white hand to stop them. She was breathing regularly despite the effort she had just made.
Salomo hissed, his ears flat against his skull. He must be scenting the odors of all the monsters in the forest.
Looking over the bushes, she squinted, scanning the darkness. She had been pretty sure to see the shadows moving.
Finally, she judged it had been a normal animal, a deer, for example, and jumped over the bushes. Her boots hit the ground silently and she looked around. Salomo followed her, and she resumed jogging.
She hadn't taken twenty footsteps, when something hit her, hurling her laterally against a tree.
She fell across the trunk of it and slid to the ground.
The pain made her dizzy, and blue stars danced in front of her eyes. Nothing had snapped, though, so she still was whole.
It took her several moments to understand she'd better get out of the way, because whatever hit her would attack soon again.
She had heard a light hissing, and then a whistle, as if something was cutting through the air at high speed.
Fortunately, she understood, and had gained enough of her senses back to roll out of the way before something massive hit the tree.
Her bow was lying somewhere, she had lost it when the monster had attacked her.
Quick like a snake, she unsheathed her hunting knife and jumped on the monster, who was still next to the tree.
The first thing she felt was a thick coat of scales.
A snake. More likely a Python.
    She suddenly froze.
Where was she? Near the head or near the tail?
If she was near the head, she would be secure. But if she was near the tail... it could bite at her at any moment.
Acting on impulse, she stabbed an interstice between two scales, then jumped off immediately.

Solitude's what seemes as ceaseless running finally comes to a stop when Lakisha quickly raises her hand to signal them to do so. The boy digs his heels into the ground to stop himself quickly and quietly. He was panting a little bit, but made sure he kept it quiet, not wanting to seem as if he was a weakling or anything of the sorts. That was a big no for Sol. The last thing he wanted was to be mocked by these seemingly uber-tough kids. The boy silents his pace as he hangs behind Lakisha, his bow up and an arrow readied. Sol had just hopped over the small hedge when he saw something as black as night itself slam into Lakisha. Upon instinct, the boy lets loose his arrow and hears a satisfying 'thump!' as the arrow finds it way into the creatures skin. The boy slowly makes his way closer to find that the creature was a large snake. Scratch that, a very large snake. The boy quickly notches an arrow and launches it at the creature, finding a chink in it's scales and causing it a bit of pain.

The bow isn't the best item choice against this creature; you need something stronger. Sol thinks to himself as he slides his bow onto his back, exchanging it for his sword. The boy pounds on the brass knuckle on his right hand and it swirls and clanks until it comes out as a Celestial Bronze shield. Sol then takes charge towards the snake, lunging this way and that while slashing at it. Hopefully he was inflicting some type of damage to the monster.

They run for what must have bin at leased a good 20 minutes before Lakisha held up her hand as a sine to stop. He was feeling a little winded but he loved this, the trill of the hunt even though they had yet find any pray. he forced him self to breath normally and quietly when something hit Lakisha hard enough to slam her agents a tree. By the way it moved he could tell that it was a vary large snake, by the time he could se that she was ok Sol had already loosed two arrows into the beast. As soon as she got up, stabbed the beast, and jumped off he and Sol charged for the beast as Victroce called to Camalos and said "Camalos, taobh chlé agus ionsaí.". Camalos dashed off to the beast's right flank and tackled it, pining its head to the ground for a second before jumping off drawing its attention away from the rest of the rest of them giving Victroce and Sol the chance to attack the beast. they hit the beast several times and it was clear him that they were hurting it, but they weren't doing enough damage due to the scales on its back and sides were to thick, the weakest point on it would have to be its under belly like with most snakes. He decided to let the fact be well known as he said "Were not doing enough damage to this thing, we need to get to its under belly or were going to be here all morning!" and kept on the attack as he realized that Lakisha had lost her bow. Carp. he thought and said " Lakisha, find your bow and take out its eyes."

She heard the boys charge and the snake hiss. She rolled out of the way when she heard it try to lash out at her, and it cut off the tree she had been next to.
Suddenly, the veil of clouds in front of the moon broke, and a fine ray of light sparkled on the monster. With a gasp, she recognized it.
It was the Thebian Python! The one Kadmos had slain, Lakisha remembered.
She had read about it in one of Ovid's books. According to the author, it was as large as the celestial snake that lies between the two Bears in the sky: Ursa Major and Ursa Minor. Still according to Ovid, it was taller than the trees of the grove it lived in, and its eyes flashed fire; its poisonous breath alone could kill. Three tongues and a triple row of teeth.

Lakisha hoped he had been exaggerating.

What had Kadmos done to kill that snake? As quick as possible, she tried to think of what she knew about the myth: Kadmos, son of Agenor and Telephassa, king and queen of Tyre. Brother to Europa. He had been searching for her after Zeus had ravished her. Came to Thebes. The Python had been guarding a spring, Ares's spring, she remembered.
He had thrown a stone at it, then killed it with his spear.
Buuut. Other versions said he had killed it with an arrow. Symbol of the thunderbolt.

    The eyes.

Victroce was right. They had to take out its eyes. But where was her bow?
She started searching for it, bouncing over roots, and found her quiver, which she had lost when she had been hurled against the tree. But that didn't help her.
    Suddenly, she got an idea.
Lakisha could turn her bow back into an ice pick by her wanting it. Could she do the same to her quiver? She concentrated.
The quiver popped back into the ice pick.

"Vαι!" she said in Ancient Greek, and turned the ice pick into her bow.

Her quiver reappeared on her back.
She took out three arrows at the same time, aimed, and shot.

Solitude's onslaught of slashes and stabs proved to be completely pointless as for the blade of his Celestial Bronze sword, the blade flashing brilliantly every time the boy slashed for the sky had been cleared of clouds, allowing the moon to cast an eerie glow over the area. The demigod quickly races back to the cover of a bush to exchange his weapons once again. He was going to have to use the bow and hope he gets a lucky shot. There was no other choice. His sword did nothing to the snake-like creature. Taking in deep breaths of air to regulate his blood flow so he doesn't do anything stupid under the effects on adrenaline, the boy reaches out to his back to swap his weapons out. Here goes nothing...

Solitude, bow now in hand, jumps out of the bushes and quickly reaches behind him to grab an arrow out of the leather quiver strapped to his back. The boy's hand comes into contact with a feathered tail of an arrow and he grabs it and pulls it out of the quiver. Notching the arrow into his bow, which was made out of only the finest Yew wood. From what he had heard and read, Yew was the best to use to make a bow. It was flexible and strong at the same time. Soltiude hadn't made the weapon though; he had paid a son of Hephaestus to forge it for him. Usually children of Hephaestus knew their way around the forge and what was the best material, so when the boy suggested he went with a Yew bow, Solitude didn't disagree with him.

Taking aim at the snake proved to be quite the challenge to the sixteen year old demigod. The snake moved this way and that, making it hard to find an opening in its scaly armor. Solitude hears a shout suddenly: "Lakisha, take out its eyes!" Sure, it wasn't directed towards the boy, but that doesn't mean he couldn't try to help out. The boy quickly walks closer to the snake to get a better shot. The snake's head was not moving as much as the rest of the body, which was quite the good thing. Solitude takes aim, then fires. Maybe, just maybe, would the arrow impale its target?

It turns out that the answer was a yes and a no. The arrow had dug itself into a chink in the snake's armor right near it's right nostril. The boy lets out a large breath of air as he takes cautious aim yet again. Hopefully he would make direct contact with the eye this time.

Victroce kept up the on slot so as to draw the beast's attention away from his friends. In the time it took for Lakisha to get her bow back, Sol had already loosed an arrow, reloaded and fired another at the same time as she had loosed three. As soon as he herd all four arrows make contact, the beast reared in pain and he took this opportunity to gut the beast. so he charged it and made a quick downward slice to the beast's now unprotected under belly. As soon as he made contact he knew that it did a good bit of damage because he could feel the blade hit the meat and bone. then he jumped back out of the beast's reach so as not to leave him self open.

Victroce's stab was daring yet effective. Lakisha suffered a short yet terrifying second of pure worry for her friend, but he rolled to the side to protect himself.
After all their three aims, the snake was severely wounded. But Victroce's lash was what killed him.
The monster exploded in a burst of flames as its essence went back to Tartarus.

Lakisha protected herself behind a tree, then came out again as soon there were nothing but ashes on the burnt grass.
    She turned to the boys.

"That was a fun play," she commented.

But now, the sun began to rise. She had few minutes to get back to Camp.

"We should go, boys," she said. "Otherwise we'll be late for breakfast."

She turned her heels and walked off.

Upon seeing the creature begin to dissipate into flames, Solitude ducks behind a large rock to shield himself from the heat. The boy hadn't gotten to shoot his final arrow at the beast; it had been Victroce who ended its life. Wiping his brow, Sol steps out from behind the rock once the creature had finally been burnt up. His bow was now slung back over his back, swapped out for his sword, which hung limply from his right hand, the blade almost coming into contact with the dirt floor of the forest.

"Well that was easy enough," the demigod mutters under his breath sarcastically. Solitude was now walking after Lakisha, wondering what would happen next.
