Layla gently dipped into the water. She grabbed her book 8 mile based on the movie. Layla sat in the water humming a song while she read.

Conner was incredibly bored that day for multiple reasons. First of all, it was hot. Whenever it was hot, that meant most people were out at the beach showing everyone their summer bodies. They would be very loud and super obnoxious...It was irritating. Secondly, he had no where to go. No friends, no family. Chiron probably didn't want him around right now either. Lastly, his body was nearly ready to give out from his lack of nutrition. When he didn't eat, he barely saw anyone anyway, since everyone chowed down in the mess hall. Therefore, Conner was bored and hoped for some action.

Bic: Layla started to sing a low key song. Her beautiful voice echoed around the forest. "This is your final warning..." She sang and puckered her lips reading the book. Layla was use to being alone, she didn't despise attention she actually lived for attention it was just that people found her strange. The way she always read books and sang but, whatever Layla didn't care as long as she had a good book to read.

This was funny. Conner was actually muttering a few lyrics himself. No, it wasn't one of those songs with all those sappy messages about how much he loved the girl but she dumped him and blah, blah, blah. Conner was more of a rapper. He liked fast beats, how they sounded when poetry was added to them. So, no, "Just Give Me a Reason" or "Troublemaker" did not flow from his lips. With his ear buds in, the son of flattery walked closer and closer to where the woods broke open to reveal the creek.

Conner looked up and around him, taking out his ear buds for he was positive that there was a voice that had responded to his. He unplugged the earphones all together and shoved them in his pocket, letting the music blare out strong as he neared the creek. He was sure that it had come from there...
"Nah, I never ever did it for a throne. That validation comes, so I'm giving it back to the people now. Sing that song and it comes like..." Conner concentrated, pausing by a tree at the edge of the forest, in order to hear the next words come from the mysterious person.

Layla smiled and set down her book ready to hear the next words. "Raise those hands, this is our party. We came here to live life like nobody was watching. I got my city right behind me. Smiling widely, Conner broke through the trees and stepped into the light of the sun. His eyes met the person who was rapping along with him and his smile only grew larger. Just as soon as it came...the smile vanished. Did this person know who he was? Or what he did? Surely...she heard of his nickname.

"J-Jude. Uh, yeah. Jude is my nickname. My name is Conner Santos." Conner said quickly. He had nearly slipped and said Judas, which wasn't exactly a name that was friendly to most. He walked over to the girl with caution but stood a good five feet away.

Conner blushed and laughed. He had heard this many times before.
"No, actually. I try not to, anyways. I guess I'm just charming." He shrugged and looked at Layla with his kind mesmerizing eyes and smiled. Conner was naturally a flirt, but he fought that side of him as much as he could. He wouldn't live up to be like those other children of the love gods.

Conner nodded and set his iPod aside. Yeah, you could say that Macklemore was his favorite rapper. He knew most of his songs by heart, collected CD's. Conner just guessed that he was the only one who could really compare to him, seeing the bright side no matter what. In a weird way, Macklemore convinced him not to return to Portugal when he was questionable about finding his birth mother.

Layla smiled and twirled the water. "My favorite is Eminem...I feel like I can relate to him with the abuse he went through and such." Back at home in California Layla's room was decorated with Eminem posters. All of the songs on her iPod were from him. Layla was a glass half empty kind of gal. She always thought about the worst thing that could happen.
