Name: Aliana Mae Parks[. Aliana has latin origins and means noble and gracious. Mae is the name of Aliana’s grandmother and means the month of May, it English derived. Aliana’s surname, Parks, is Angelo-Scottish and it describes a person employed in or at a "park". This was not an area of flowers and walks, but a fenced hunting ground, kept especially for the use of royalty and nobility.

Mortal Parent: Aliana’s father is Jonathan Lucas Parks. He is employed as an Engineer, and enjoys fishing in his spare time. He grew up in Baltimore, Maryland; and moved to Maine to attend University of Maine and received his Masters of Bioengineering in 1993. He met Iris at the University and they dated on and off until 1995 when they married. Aliana was born the next year. When Aliana was 6 months old, Iris left their blind daughter. When Aliana was nine, Jonathan met Aliana’s teacher, Suzie Walters, who specializes in teaching blind children, and they fell in love. Suzie and Jonathan were married a year later. Aliana has a very good relationship with both of her parents and they enjoy seeing her during the holidays.

Armor: Aliana has a hard enough time getting around as it is, so she prefers to wear the least amount of Armor that she can, provided by CHB.

Pet(s): Aliana has a seeing eye dog named Kitty. Kitty is four years old and has been with Aliana for three. Kitty is a St. Bernard, and usually an unlikely choice for a Seeing Eye dog. Nevertheless, Kitty is extremely loyal and quite intelligent, usually taking Aliana to places that she needs to be, without Aliana asking. Kitty is also protective and will bite if Aliana feels threatened. When Kitty’s harness is off, she is quite lazy and prefers to nap.

Skills/Talents:

Violin: Aliana spends a great deal of her free time playing the violin. When she was three, her dad thought she should find a hobby, and after thinking for a while, he settled on music. Aliana had a private tutor and was taught in a way that would appeal to her ears, rather than her eyes. Aliana can play many classics, and learns songs through braille sheet music.

Flaws:

Introvert:Generally, Aliana doesn’t like meeting new people. She finds most people narrow-minded and judgmental, usually because that’s how people act towards her. Many people that she meets think of her as a helpless china doll, which she’s not. They also tend to treat her in a certain way because of her blindness. This leads Aliana to believe that no one will understand her, and would rather stay indoors.

Touchy Aliana get frustrated easily and will lash out if people are mean. This dates back to her childhood, when people wouldn’t listen to her or treated her a certain way, this made her seem very moody and irritable. Many times when faced with judgment, Aliana will get very nasty and will say or do mean things. She desperately wants people to treat her fairly, and when they don’t, she gets grumpy.

Can’t Express Feelings Aliana is unable to tell someone how she feels, and will usually try to change the subject right away. She has problems communicating exactly what is troubling her, or what she needs. This also communicates romantically, and is afraid to tell someone she likes them. She is fearful of what might happen if she let’s people into her heart, and is afraid that her friends will judge her of her feelings. This leads to her seeming withdrawn, and won’t tell people what she is thinking deep down.

Horrible Liar Aliana has the inability to lie to anyone. When in a bind, the lies she comes up with are outrageous, and simply idiotic. If she does come up with a believable lie, her face gives it away. Aliana never really got away with anything as a child, and usually ended up grounded. Especially if she tries to lie to people she cares about, if she gets away with it, she will blurt out the truth five seconds later.

Blind Aliana was born with Leber’s Congenital Amaurosis. Her father was a carrier (meaning that he didn’t have it, but could pass it on) and since god’s don’t have DNA, it was much more likely for Aliana to get it. This means that Aliana cannot see, nor has she ever been able to. Aliana has been treated differently because of it. She has learnt to get along with it, she attended a school for the blind, knows braille, and has Kitty. This still makes many things challenging for her, like learning, fighting, and feeling normal.

Strengths:

Compassionate: Aliana doesn’t make many friends, so the people she does connect with,  become important to her. She often thinks of how her actions affect others, and doesn’t like to do things that might hurt her friends. She feels strong bonds with people she cares about, and will do anything for them.

Humble: Aliana isn’t a fan of being over complemented, and would rather have other people get the praise. She believes that helping people should be expected, and that being praised, isn’t necessary.

Upbeat: Aliana always tries to find silver linings to all of her problems. She doesn’t like seeing people upset, and will always try to make them smile. She herself loves to smile, and will always try to be happy. She knows good things are going to happen, and she looks forwards to things.

Creative: Aliana is always thinking outside of the box. She’s constantly thinking of different approaches to a problem, and will keep trying new things. She can adapt to different situations, and think differently. She blends things she likes with her work, and always tries to make it fun. Aliana is always thinking “What if?”

Weaknesses:

Chronic Hero Syndrome Aliana never likes to see the people she loves, in pain. She tries to right every wrong, and never likes seeing the people she likes in a situation. She will try to sacrifice herself to save her friends, and that will eventually lead to her downfall. If she feels an emotional bond with someone, she will do anything for them, no matter how silly or stupid. This makes it hard for her to end relationships. The fact that she makes so little friends, makes her desperate to keep them.

Personality: Aliana is very quiet and kind, she enjoys listening to other people. She can get moody and unpleasant, but only when you push her buttons. Aliana can be very understanding and sympathetic, but can never lie to anyone. She’s open to new ideas, and points of views. She never wants to hurt your feelings, as long as you do the same to her. She believes that others always come first, no matter what.

Life Before CHB:

Age 0-3:
Aliana was pronounced blind at birth, Iris was disappointed that her daughter couldn’t see the one thing she represented. Iris left three days after that, and left Jonathan with a heavy burden. Aliana grew up happy otherwise, her father rose to the occasion and raised his daughter to the best of his ability. Her father also attended support groups dedicated for single parent’s of children with disabilities, where he met many other fathers on the same boat. Aliana and Jonathan were close, and Jonathan loved his little girl.

Age 4-7:
Aliana attended a pre-school for blind children, where she flourished. Then she moved onto kindergarten, where she learnt to read braille and use a cane. Aliana was around people like herself, and she felt normal. Though, whenever she went into public, she could feel people staring at her, judging her. Aliana’s extended family was no better. At family reunions, her aunt wouldn’t let her play with her cousins, because it was “too dangerous”. lHer cousins mimiced their mother, and eventually Aliana became very bitter. This was how she was treated for most of her life, as a china doll.

Age 8-12:
Aliana started to get more resentful of how many people treated her, and occasionally (more like often) lashed out at her Aunt and cousins. For once she was able to get across to them, and demanded to be treated equally. Her father noticed that his sweet angel would become hostile around his sister, and the two stopped visiting. Aliana only wanted to be at school, where no one would care if Aliana was blind. She formed a close bond with her teacher, Ms. Walters, who eventually became Mrs. Parks. The final two years that Aliana spent with her Step-mother and father, were filled with smiles and laughter.

When Aliana was twelve, a satyr came and brought her to Manhattan, but was killed by a Cyclopes. She made it the rest of the way with the help of Kitty.

Role-playing Example:
Aliana ran across the soft ground of dead leaves. As she ripped through vines, thorns caught her bare shins. Her hand clutched Kitty’s harness, who she could hear panting loudly. She had been running for what seemed like hours, she didn’t know what time it was. There had been something chasing her, something big. She knew that she was different, not just because of her eyes.
Now, she had been running away from something no one else could see. She had forgotten her shoes back at the house, the same house she didn’t know how to get back to.
A roar erupted from behind her, it was close. She could only presume that if she was caught, that she’d be dead. Aliana tried to push that from her mind, and focused on her mission. The man that had gotten her to New York had told her to go to a camp, and not to stop running. He must have left her, because she couldn’t hear his voice anymore. As far as she knew, it was just Kitty and herself, and the thing that she had been running from.
Her shorts and thin jacket barely kept the cold air from invading her body. She couldn’t run for much longer. Then, her foot slipped, and she went onto the ground. She laid there for a moment, and noticed that the sound of heavy footsteps had ceased. Nothing was behind her, as far as she could tell. Kitty had stopped panting. Then she heard something in front of her, the sound of hooves.

May I ask how soon Iris left Aliana and her father? How did she get to camp?

I suggest you cut down the time Iris stayed with them before leaving to maybe up to two or three days.
