Taking a Walk Empty Taking a Walk

Post by The Seelie Queen 9/25/2013, 7:37 pm

Maeve was wandering through the forest, extremely bored. She had just been delivering mail- a job that she would call 'extremely boring in various ways'. After that, she realized she had nothing else to do, so she decided to simply go for a walk in the woods. She kicked a stone with her foot, and it tumbled a few feet away from her. She sighed, walked towards it, and kicked it a bit farther.

Lucy was sitting in a tree listening to her IPod when she heard crunching of leaves and sticks. She grabbed her dagger ready to strike when she saw someone down below her.

Mae heard a faint sound of music from... Above her? She looked up, ad saw a girl sitting in a tree wielding a knife. Nervously, she called out: "You're not going to use that thing, are you?"

Maeve shrugged. "I can't be either if you don't come down." She held up her hands. "I'm not going to hurt you."

Mae gasped as a St. Bernard seemed to have appeared out of nowhere. She loved dogs, but this one seemed terrifying to her. She took three slow steps backwards, hoping not to catch attention from the beast. In that moment she completely lost all thought of the girl sitting in the tree; instead she was thinking about how all that training had gone to waste if she couldn't even take a mortal pet without freaking out and freezing.

"Are you okay," Lucy asked as she jumped out of the tree to hold back the St. Bernard.

Maeve was snapped out of her frozen state. "Um, yeah..." She said, looking at the girl's hands which were holding back the big dog. "What's his name?" There was so much more that could have been asked, like Why were you in that tree and Where the hell did he come from, but Mae just said the very first thing that popped into her head.

"Oh." Mae said, and looked up at the girl holding the now leashed Rufus. "I'm Maeve, by the way," She said, leaning up against a tree. "But I go by Mae."

Mae tried to guess Lucy's godly parent. Athena? No, she doesn't have blond hair. Hephaestus? No, Lucy's not bulky enough. Finally, she gave up. "Who's your god parent?" She asked, putting her hands into her pockets.

"Morpheus," Mae said without hesitation. She was used to people asking her all the time, just as she had asked Lucy.

Mae shrugged. "Healing people is important. It could be the difference of life and death. Don't worry about it. Besides; having a dad who's known for dreams can be quite odd" Mae was a little envious of Lucy. Having the knowledge of knowing how to heal people quickly and correctly could help a lot- way more than dreams could ever.

"Well I think dreams are important to dreams can sometimes predict the future so maybe you will predict the future one day you know," Lucy suggested.

Mae sighed. "Maybe... But I doubt it." She looked up at Lucy. "So does healing come, like, naturally to you, or do you have to learn it?" She knew that in the Athena cabin, reading came naturally, and so did fighting in the Ares cabin. She was curious about minor gods' children's talents.

"Well it's my power so I guess it comes naturally but I like to go to the library and read about how to make medicine out of herbs and stuff," said Lucy now thinking more how her powers are better.

Mae smirked. A demigod reading? Unheard of. But, then again, she had a few favorite novels. "You can't really read about dreams," She said. "I mean, if you count all of that voodoo bullcrap, you can, but other than that, there's nothing." She knew from experience.
