I guess it would be a dryad? When I write stories and whatnot, I often confuse myself also. I just go with it. So...what should I do about the hammer?

A dryad can't get much away from her tree, why don't you pick a satyr instead?
And for the hammer, you can say he got it at the Camp's armory.

I think a dryad would be okay -- I mean, I don't think there's ever been specific distances listed for how far they could be from their trees, although maybe you should mention that your character was relatively close to camp already.
