Jana Kay was walking into the arena, dressed in her Greek celestial bronze armor; despite her being accustomed to it after battles and battles, it was really heavy and weighed on her shoulders and head like bags of sand. Not yet sweating though, the daughter of Demeter reached the middle of the arena with her cabin mates, greeting the others with big smiles then listening to their mentor putting together pairs. She was pitted with Olivia, or the Amazon girl as she liked to call her in her head. She had this bronze skin color, like an Aztec priestess, very dark hair and stormy gray eyes which looked like menacing thunder clouds. Jana Kay knew how much of a fighter Olivia was and braced herself; she may be a veteran of the two wars but she wasn't the best fighter either. Her strengths were cooking, drawing and braiding flower crowns.

"Hey there," she smiled, readying her sword. As usual, she had unsheathed Crop first, her xiphos. She carried the labrys Demeter had given her at her side, along with her highland dirk. She was dressed in a comfortable orange camp tee, white Capri trousers and Nike sport shoes, her hair gathered into a ponytail under her horsehair-crested helmet.

Olivia didn't really enjoy teaching demigods how to fight. She felt as if they should already know that by their experiences with monsters and whatnot. Then again, she was a daughter of Athena so she already knew how to fight? Call it Battle Intuition. Anywho, the demigoddess stood there in all her Azetic warrior strength and split up the group of Demeter's. "You, the blonde one. You're with me."

Her attire consisted of full battle armor with her spear in one hand with a shield in the other. The shield had owl's face engraved on it. Olivia's straight up appearance would be enough to frighten off most demigods, maybe a couple of Ares kids.

"I'll let you have the first turn."

Here we go, Jana Kay thought, getting in battle stance. She was a seasoned warrior at the young age of fourteen but Olivia was older than her and the daughter of a war deity. They exchanged a couple of blows to warm up, then Jana Kay lashed out at her.

    OOC: Short post because fighting.

The demigoddess jumped back when Jana Kay lashed out. "Ah! Good try, chica." Olivia twirled her spear and started to circle around the daughter of Demeter like a hungry predator does to it's prey. Olivia looked her up and down, studying her stance and stature.

Her look made Jana Kay nervous. She felt like in front of a scanner, with the uncomfortable feeling Quetzal was reading each and every one of the faults in her stance, and that there was nothing she could do about it since she couldn't see them herself. Like being under a microscope, with those stormy gray eyes dissecting her every move. She wouldn't give her any more time to reap advantages. Jana Kay readied her sword and shield, then attacked with a sweeping blow at Quetzal's leg. A short series of hits and stabs and parries ensued, the metallic clanks of celestial bronze ringing in the air then suddenly Jana Kay found herself knocked to the ground. Ouch...

Quetzalcoa was a bit surprised that Jana attacked when she did. Usually people took their time trying to figure out what move to preform on the daughter of Athena. At any rate, when she did, Quetzalcoa fought with medium effort, not exactly wanting to put her in a coma or anything of that nature.

After a few clinks together with their celestial bronze weapons, she knocked her down to the ground and stood over her. "Well, aren't you a smart flower child." Quetza twirled her spear and aimed the head of her spear at Jana Kay's neck.

Jana Kay's reflexes saved her as she deflected her spear's head with her shield. She rolled to the side, sand caking her back and legs, and heaved herself back onto her feet. She bit her lip but Quetzal's comment had hurt. Readjusting her grip on her xiphos, Jana Kay attacked again.
