Crushes, past, and fighting (BoO Spoilers)

Chris decided to visit Camp Jupiter for the week before school started up again. He had only visited once before, and only met one Roman the entire team, whom he took a liking to. The camp was truly amazing. Lately, he had started thinking about his past again. After a dream with his mother in it last night, he decided to visit CJ with his buds from CHB.

At about noon or so, he split up from his Greek friends to visit the lake and take a dip. He had spent the day in a war game with the Romans in which one of his fellow Greeks, Jane, and this one arrogant Roman got into a fight. It made him roll his eyes. What was th point of fighting? It got no where in life. His arms were sore from working out beforehand, practicing, and from the heavy armor he wore. Going from practicing the Greek way to the Roman way was worlds apart. He had taken a shower after the games, and then decided to come here to relax. Chris wore swim trunks and sandals, making his way there.

When he was at the lake, all he did was sat and stare for a while, a bit sleepy, and suddenly not in the mood to swim.

Eva sighed, great the annoying Greek from earlier was here still. Why did the Greeks have to come visit? Or more importantly why did he had to come visit? Where ever Eva went she seemed to be stuck with the Greek guy. He was so annoying, nothing in-particular just something about him that annoyed her.
She and a couple of her friends from the first cohort sat down a short distance away looking over the lake. Occasionally the daughter of Apollo would sneak a glance at him, she would grudgingly admit he happened to be rather handsome.
"Hey Eva its that Greek guy you like so much." One of her friends whispered to her teasingly.
"I do not like him." She protested her cheeks reddening as her friends neared the truth as to her dislike of him.

"Then why are your cheeks so red for Eva?"
"Be quiet Abbie!" Eva snapped, her cheeks reddening even more. "I do not like him."
"Awww don't be like that."
"Oh come off it Jess he's so annoying and full of himself."
"Are you sure you are not just being shy?" Jess teased before standing up and marching over to where Chris sat. Eva watched horror stricken as her friend walked over to the boy.

"Hey there my friend over there likes you." Jess said before walking back with a spring in her step and a huge grin on her face.
"There you go Eva I'm sure he'll be dying to meet you."
"I hate you." Eva grumbled feeling embarrassed.
"Now now don't be such a party pooper."

Chris was thinking about the day he broke out of the casino, the day the satyr found him, when a girl walked up to him. He politely smiled, or it might've just been a stupid grin. Before he could ask what she needed, she told him that her friend liked him. Chris looked in the direction she walked, seeing the girl that he was pretty sure he met in New Rome the last time he was in camp. He didn't know what really to say. Chris just waved, supposing he should walk over. He did so, awkwardly running a hand through his blonde hair.

"Hi I guess? I'm Topher, from Camp Half-Blood, a son of Hermes, or whatever that'd name would be in Roman. Nice to see you again from the last time we met," he said. "You Romans sure are tough, huh? The workout and training here is much more harsh then at camp."

Eva after been gently punched in the arm by one of her friends reluctantly waved back at him. "I hate you guys." She muttered to them.
"Why?" Abbie said with mock hurt. "Not our fault that you like him."
"I don't..." Eva cut her response short seeing as he came over towards them. Great, time to deal with a Greek. She would find a way to even out the embarrassment with her friends later. Perhaps tell their crushes that they liked them. No, she did not have a crush on the Greek.

"I'm Abbie, that's Jess and the beautiful and rather grumpy thing in the middle is Eva." Abbie introduced them to him.
"I'm not grumpy." Eva objected, feeling her cheeks warm.
"Hey Abbie I just remembered me and you have got to check the armoury." Jess winked knowingly at her friend. They did not have to do any such thing, they intended to leave Eva alone with the Greek.
"I can.." Eva began before Jess cut her off.
"No you stay here and keep him company we'll be back soon." With that Jess and Abbie made their exit.

"Well..." Eva began, seeing as her friends had caused this mess and deserted her.  "Yes we did and it must be much harder than what you Greeks do." Whatever that may have been. Eva had never been to visit Camp Half-blood, the daughter of Apollo had no wish to see how the other side lived. The Greeks till they started making their unwelcome visit to her camp did not effect her much.

Chris just watched as her friends left her. He wasn't stupid, either, he knew they were leaving him with her to be alone. Apparently she liked him, but she was rather rude to him, or it came off that way to him. "Much harder? I wouldn't say much, but certainly harder." He wasn't as defensive of CHB as some of the other Greeks were. Since he became a demigod, he went to camp, only to go to Vegas and get stuck in a casino for like a gazillion years or something. Then again, if he never went into the casino, he may have been dead right now. May have. Chris looked at the water, sizing it up. About 30 feet deep he'd say, but he wasn't sure. He wasn't a marine biologist. "Um, want to swim? Or take a boat trip?" He took his shirt off, putting his sunglasses on that he brought. Chris was muscular and tan (ooc: probably in my top 3 looker-y characters with Jason and Nefertiti). He held out his hand to take.

"It's up to you, Roman princess."

"I'd say that much." Eva countered to the boy. "I can't imagine a Greek getting used to living in Rome." She looked up at the boy, getting to her feet. "Wow you Greeks sure do love the water, except the Spartans, especially the Athenians." She could not think of a reason to decline his offer, swimming or a boat trip was quite good.
"Well... I don't have my swimwear at the moment." Eva glanced awkwardly at him before looking over the water at something only she could see. "So if you want to wait... We can swim or if you don't you can row us out." She winked at him awkwardly. "I assume you Greeks don't mind rowing a girl out across the water?"

"Yeah I can't imagine it either, to be honest with you. Actually, when you think about it..yeah, I can. Bigger area, more beauty to see, tougher army, it could happen. I just wonder vise versa. A Roman wouldn't pass a week living in Camp Half-Blood." Owen smirked. "Yeah, I like water. It's one of the only fun activities at Camp Half-Blood. Here there's so much more. There we have swimming, hanging out at the beach, hanging out at your cabin, or hanging out in the game room. And sometimes strawberry picking, depending on who you are. Although I can't imagine that fun." He chuckled.

Chris raised his eyebrows. He was pretty sure she was flirting with him. "Fine, I can row you out. And back. I guess," he said, awkwardly, going to pay for a boat. "What size? Small, medium, large, or extra large?"

"Oh I bet we could." Eva commented teasingly. "Few rules, no strict order of battle which is weird since your phalanxes were... But moving on, fancy Greek foods and all that, do you still Hoplite run?" She had read about Ancient Greek history and the activities of Greeks.
"Might be impressive seeing you all in armour running around with a shield with other Greek guys." She chuckled quietly. "Thanks I might give you a hug afterwards." When he mentioned the various sizes of the boats, Eva resisted the urge to make a joke. "Well it depends on how much space you want." Eva did not really know much about boats, Romans did not really do the whole navy/ship thing. "Up to you and your wallet."

"Hoplite run? I dunno, I just do what everyone else does, training wise. Why, do you actually put research and interest in us Greeks, huh?" He asked.

"You mean at the next War Games?" Every so often the Field of Mars hosted a Greek v Roman thing, he was pretty sure, but he wasn't sure how many people, especially Greeks, showed up. "A whole two-armed hug? Wow, thanks, that's nice," he joked. "Space? Uh...yeah this is one weird conversation. Let's just get a large." Luckily, they accepted cash. Chris went over to the boat that they got, steeping in, offering his hand, to help her in.

"Military history, besides us Romans helped to save you Greeks from the Macedonians in the past." She smirked at him. "After all who are we who do not know our history?"
"I guess." The Romans tended to win those fights due to their discipline and strict battle formations. "Yes... Or I could give you one hug instead? If a two handed hug is awkward for you..."

"Sure." She said no more about the boat. Eva let him help her into the boat when he offered her his hand to help her in. "Thanks." Eva responded as she settled into the boat.

"People who don't like life as a demigod. I'm not talking about Daddy Apollo troubles, either. I''m not even really talking about my mother dieing, either. Eva, can I tell you a secret? You swear you'll never tell anyone?" He was considering telling her his real name was Chris, and about his Lotus Casino history.

Chris didn't respond to the two-handed hug comment- he wouldn't mind hugging her, really. But if he told her that in the middle of a boat as they were sailing away from land that'd be...yeah. "Who would want to hug you?" he meant it jokingly, but it may of came off as rude and serious. "...sorry," he said, paddling the boat a bit, sailing away from shore.

Eva shook her head, problems were part of life, including the rather nastier parts of it. "I don't know... We don't really know each other well enough to be exchanging secrets." She did not know if she wanted to know his secret just yet.
"A lot of people." Eva responded to him, not certain whether to take his comment as a rude or flirtatious. She had a few relationships at Camp Jupiter, the last one with another girl. So she was attracted to both genders, there was nothing wrong with that.
Though some of the Romans found that to be most interesting, Eva disliked it when people nosed around in her relationships.

"It's..yeah, I suppose. It's just that not too many people know about it, and it's just weird not being able to tell anyone. I'm sorry if that hug comment came off rude, by the way. You seem like a likable person." Chris paddled a bit, watching the water and feeling the boat drifting slowly. "So, tell me about yourself. I don't know much besides you're Roman and your name is Eva."

"I'm sure you can tell me in time once we have or if we have grown to trust one another." Eva told him quietly. "It is alright." She responded accepting his apology though she did not comment on her being a likeable person.
"Well I'm in the first cohort, Russian birth, daughter of Apollo and favour javelins as my preferred weapon." Eva informed him. Okay so it was not probably the most interesting pieces of her life but still stuff he would probably wish to know.

"First cohort? Nice, isn't that like for the best fighters or Romans or whatever? Like, your family sends letters?" Chris asked. He had heard about it before. He thought it was kind of stupid, though, Romans being specifically split up like that. "I know about the other camp too, Roman," he said, grinning. He was kind of being flirty there.

"Apollo, cool, Hermes over here. Mercury for you Romans. Only good thing about Apollo is the fact that he has the same name in both Greek and Roman, easier than translating names back and forth."

"Yes benefits my ability and being a daughter of Apollo." She smiled at him, proud of being in the first cohort. "Yeah I guess that is the cool thing about my dad, he keeps his name the same unlike some of the other Gods." Eva joked quietly, as they sailed out over the calm lake.
"It must be weird staying in the same cabin as all of your half brothers and sisters." She commented, Eva did not know how many of her half brothers and sisters were at Camp Jupiter.

"No, not really. I mean, the general idea isn't that bad, but for my case, it's horrible. I'm in a cabin with a bunch of rotten pranksters and it sucks. I don't like it. But like the Apollo, Hephaestus, Athena, all those cabins seem like they'd be pretty cool to live in. Have you ever been to Camp Half-Blood or nah?"

She listened to him talk about Camp Half-blood. It did not sound that great. "No I've never been to your camp." Eva explained to him, uncertain as if she would be welcome at Camp Half-blood. After all she happened to be a member of the elite first cohort, considering the history between the Greeks and Romans she was not certain if they would be alright with her.

"Yeah, it's not that glorious but it's still my home. It's who I choose to fight for, not need to fight for. Although, nothing against the Romans, you guys are pretty bad-butt." Chris grinned. "You know, Eva, you're cool. You're pretty chill for a Roman, no offense." Chris got up, sitting a bit closer to her, becoming more comfortable. "So, how long is this boat ride going to last? It doesn't matter to me, I already got my work out for the day in." He winked, before continuing, "although, I am getting hungry."

"Well we try to be pretty awesome and thank you I try." Eva smiled at him, her cheeks showing a little bit of a blush. "You are not so bad yourself for a Greek of course." She considered his question about the how long the boat ride would last.
"I guess as long as you wish it too, course it might come to an end sooner seeing that you are hungry." She joked.
"On the topic of your work out I can see." She winked awkwardly back at him.
"If you are hungry we can head back to shore?" Eva suggested. "Go get some food then."

"Well, I mean, it's up to you. If you're enjoying the boat ride, there's no sense in going back and wasting the rest of the time we have this boat rented. Or, at least, I do. Then again, I heard Romans have great pizza. Is this true? It makes sense considering pizza is Italian and you know, Rome, Italy." Chris sized up the water. "We could swim back to shore...although we didn't get life jackets. Smart idea on us. And we'd have to drag the boat with us. Unless you have some cool Apollo power that can help us?"

"The pizza here is good but I hear the actual pizza from Rome in Italy." Eva had never been to the former capital of the Roman Empire. "No thanks... Not wearing swimwear like you." She winked at him playfully. "Though you could swim and drag the boat to the shore with your teeth, water washing against you..." Eva stopped her detailed description, her cheeks turning red. "No... I don't unless you like being flash banged." She smirked.

"That's probably true. I've never been to Rome, or any of Italy, for that matter. I haven't been to Greece either."

Chris grinned when she winked at him, and then she started a somewhat vivid weird description. "I don't think I'm going to do that. That doesn't seem advisable. I like having teeth. Woah, woah, flash-banged? Like a grenade? That's kind of cool," he said, wanting to see it now.

Chris started slowly paddling towards the shore.

"Yes your teeth are a good thing to keep." Eva commented quietly. "Yeah it is quite a good thing to have... Doesn't work on me unfortunately blinds friends and foes though... Nice feature really, fun at parties or for making quick escapes when I need to." She moved forward on the boat. "Would you like me to help you row?" She offered.

"I need to see it in action sometime, like, on other people. Nah, I think I can row back to shore. I think. We didn't sail out that far to begin with." Chris continued to do so, wondering if they had motor boats for rental and he just hadn't saw them. "So, are you up for pizza, or in the mood for like Mexican food or something? I don't know."
